Who on earth would purchase a 2 day beta key for 90$ or 140$... or even 10$ at that.
I probably would pay some 20-30 €, if it was legit and maybe more if it was to the benefit of the developer.

Comparing it to my visits at gamescom, it'd be a huge bargain. There - considering I mostly went there to play GW2 (and I didn't have that much time to do anything else on the one-day trips I made any way) - I paid a lot more to play a lot less, and I was pretty much exhausted to no end afterwards due to hours and hours and hours spent standing in some sort of line.

I only used one and I think it's the only fair way. What if you register on 3 pcs and get 3 invites? yep, you stole 2 from others who may not have gotten one just because YOU wanted to increase your, and solely your, chance. hmph.

If I did get all 3 invites I'd give two of them to friends that didn't get one.

Maybe I was exaggerating abit with the 10 dollar figure. But my point still stands, paying that much for a 2 day beta when you can just wait a month and actually purchase the game for about that and get guaranteed access to all the weekend betas from thereon out is ridiculous, IMO.

I wonder if the invites are sent out in waves based on location. It would make sense considering i've around 20 friends in the UK who've all applied, and none of us have had anything yet :p

It would be intresting to find out where people are situated which reiceved the beta invites. I too know 10-15 people who signed up for Beta in the UK and have not reiceved word.

How much does a full weekend of entertainment usually cost? :) That's the question really.

For me, if Anet said '£10 for this weekend's beta access', i'd buy it.

If you want to check if your computer will run GW2, check here.

If you find out you can't and need to think about upgrading or building another, check here.

Anyone who is off telling the internet they're in the beta, won't be in the beta for long.

Just saying.

Well, the more derpy ones which are spamming it on facebook will be. Admittedly the hope for them to be banned is just little more than badly disguised jealousy on my part :p

It'll be from 'the guild wars 2 team' i would assume, and it would be pretty obvious it's a beta invite :p

How is Anet going to keep tabs on people saying they've been selected for beta anyway?

They can't be everywhere......or can they?

This sucks when you don't have you own comp for the time being or when its being fixed at the moment, you dont look at your email alot and you pray you get back soon enough to use the beta invite. :qq:

I get what you mean if it was a high cost though. Paying as much as the full game will cost is a bit much for example.

But I suppose money/time ratios are different for different people :)

It's really sad to see people buying keys.  Not only are most probably scams, but there's only 1 month before you can get in for sure, without wasting money and risking possible legal action.  What's wrong with people?

To those who really thought they had a chance:  There, there... it's going to be okay. Be patient.

...Me, I'm more Looking forward to a later Beta Event when there will be a lot more people in it.
I'd be surprised if there was more than 2500 in this one.

(also b/c I still got too much s*** to get done the next couple weeks)

I think the people who buy the beta key are less ridiculous than the people who went to conventions just to play a GW2 demo.  At least the people buying a beta key aren't waiting in long lines to play a game for 40 minutes.

How much does going to a convention usually cost? Tickets, travel and board must be more expensive than 90 dollars. How much time do you spend waiting in lines?  Seriously, I don't know the answers and I'm curious.
