Feature Voices for Our Character

Voices for player character. Now keep in mind that the suggestion is not for Dialogs with NPC or within story.. but rather treating it as a emote.
Like other emotes (like /dance), there would be a certain group of emotes with audio voice to them. (ex. /vlaugh, /vjoke /vflirt /vgrumble... etc). On use, your character would say something, or have an audio expression with body movement. (See LoL's champion's emo for an example idea)
Certain "script" of the voice emotes will also base on your character (race, profession, sex). So a Charr's Joke would be different from that of Asura Engineers. (there would also be several type of jokes too)
It is another extension of emotes, and beside the base sets, can be modular add on (as earn in-game reward, or expansion content).
However, could also see that not all people might not like it, since you can only have so limited choice of voices (unless they have some type of audio scaler). Also might be too audio clutter in a large city sitting (but a option to turn on/off/far/near should help with that).
So... what you think?

... Or am I not understanding the suggestion?

What game has vocals on emotes?
And to the OP I'd love that.. just being able to hear different jokes when you type in /joke would be awesome.
What I would love even more though is make it so we can choose a voice at character creation. Not likely to happen, but if they've got 60,80,whatever+ hours of voiceacting how much worse would it be to have a few voice options for each race/sex? It really helps with drawing you into the world when you have some decision over if your slyvari has a gritty voice or a soft one.

60-80? Lol..
At one point I believe they said they have at least 2,000.

Your idea of voices for emotes will hopefully happen. We do know our players randomely say things though. The skill videos show off alot of it and the devs have commented that what they say in the videos are actually ingame, but won't be as often as you hear it in the videos.

Granted it could tie in with emotes. But I rather see it bit more separate, since it allow for more room in adding/expending (I think a recording tends to be easier to do than character animation). It it does allow some room to add (audio micro-expansion packs?)
But what else could be there? hmmm
/Joke /Tease /Taunt /Flirt /Comfort /Bore /Blah /Meh /OMG

WoW, LotrO, and Rift... I can't remember if SWTOR does or not. Only MMO I've played that for sure doesn't have it would be Runescape; but that was back when the game was 2D and had a whopping 3 servers to choose from - I hear it's changed a lot (mostly for the worse) so maybe vocal emotes are part of that?

Laugh and cry for example.

Well.. I consider them as emotes with audios, not voices with dialog tracks.
They don't really "talk".

I would like to have some variety in character voices as well.

Agreed. It would be a great addition to choose a voice for your character, for personal stories and emotes. However the problem is this would require all the personal story dialogue to be recorded by different voice actors multiple times. And with the level of detail Anet tends to strive for, would have them recording different voices not just based on gender but race, profession and everything else too.
But it would be cool…

You can still use the emote and write something to 'say' something.
As for voice customization, I've read somewhere around that they are looking into voice pitch and tone, to have different voices by making alterations to the already existing ones. Nothing was promised, though. They are just looking into it.
