I went to my local Gamestop in Chicago right when they opened at 10am.  I paid for the CE in full and the code didn't print on the receipt like they were expecting.  They made a few calls and said that it would take awhile for them to get the codes and that they would call me later today when it came in.  About an hour later I got a call saying that the code was in and they gave it to me over the phone

I registered the code, it worked fine, and I'm gong to go to the Gamestop again to get my updated receipt just for security reasons.  Glad to finally have the opportunity to give ArenaNet their hard-earned money for making such a great game! :)

I just called my local Gamestop and the manager said they have had a few people order and get their codes with no problem. According to her the codes have been generated but stores may not have instructed their employees and how to complete the GW2 perpurchase transaction.

I actually called the support this morning and the guy I talked to knew I was calling about GW2 (I suspect they are getting a LOT of those calls today). I wanted to switch my pre-purchase to online so I could get it shipped to me but I couldn't. But that's besides the point. He said that as of right now the CE is not available for pre-purchase online.

It may just be that they aren't set up for it yet. Since they were added at the last minute, along with BestBuy. BestBuy apparently won't have the CE ready for Pre-Purchase for several days. So I'd wait a few days at least. Just hope the CE doesn't sell out by then.

In the end your best bet is to find a Gamestop store and grab it there.

Kudos to ArenaNet and GameStop for fixing my problem within minutes of my tweeting ArenaNet.

My impression was we get the actual game code when we pre-purchase.

Here is the quote directly from the FAQ.  You'll have to get the actual code and enter it within 5 days of the games release when you pick up your CE!

Collector's Edition (North America and Europe)—Customers will buy the Collector's Edition Pre-Purchase box and receive a Pre-Purchase serial code. They will then go to https://register.guildwars2.com and follow the on-screen instructions to create a Guild Wars 2 account and apply the serial code, which will give them access to Beta Weekend Events and three-day Headstart Access to the final game. When Guild Wars 2 launches, customers will need to return to their retailer with proof of purchase to receive the full Collector's Edition box with physical items and retail serial code. They will need to apply this retail serial code to their Guild Wars 2 account within five days to continue playing without interruption.  ;)

Had to pay in full too (which I assumed and is actually good imo)

I got my code and reciept, and am set to go. I love my local gamestop. It also helps the manager was there and knew what I was talking about.

Holy crap man how did you get the price to 133 for the CE? I had to pay 164+they scanned my pro rewards card. Trade-ins towards it?

I went to Gamestop today to buy CE. It seemed to go fine for me, but when i told them i wanted to buy 2 for a friend, things became more complicated. So i was only able to get one.
But i got my Gw2 Cover with the key inside it, and they told me to hand it in when they got the CE Box.

Whatever happens with the other one, i dont know... yet.

Yea just got back from Gamestop here in Brampton, Ontario and they didn't have any physical boxes for either the CE or the standard edition. I asked if I should come back when they get the bonus stuff but he told me that if I don't get it now I might not get it later so I just paid in full and he's going to call me when they get the bonus stuff. Hopefully before the 20th.

6/26 is a tuesday, and new releases are on tuesday. Maybe the release is that day

Sweet, called GameStop, the codes are working. Will stop by and physically pick it up after work, just to be safe.

From what I'm hearing from my local gamestop, this is what is going to have to happen:

1. If you prepurchased BEFORE today, you need to go back to the store. They will cancel your preorder, then redo the order for you right there. That will generate a beta code.

2. In order to get the code, you MUST pay in full if you have not already done so.

I haven't done this yet (studying), but I should be able to go back to gamestop tonight and see if I can get this all straightened out.

I don't know when you all will see numbers on prepurchases, but you have to have a warm-and-fuzzy feeling out there in Bellevue so far... :D

i live in orangevile and i was told that i have to wait till tomorrow they said their shipment is coming in tomorrow and i should go there around 1pm to pick up my code and to change my repeat from pre order to pre purchase for my CE they r just one day be hide in the email it said something about a RAV code... no idea..

Edit: i was told they update the systems at night time which is dumb... thats why my order is still at pre order not pre purchase.

I believe that the phyiscal boxes are for European retailers only. There is a law that says something to the effect of: when you buy something you have to receive a physical object.

Also, I had zero problems at my GameStop. I paid for the CE and the code was printed on the receipt. The person working there had to enter a coupon code to tell the system that it was a pre-purchase and to print the key.

Hmm strange. My gamestop seemed to be pretty well informed. They're like "would you like to pay in full so you can have beta access" and I'm like yeah. Payed. Printed out. Showed me the beta key on the receipt. This is for the regular edition so maybe CE is more fail?

Hello everyone. I just created an account to share my pre-purchase experience with GameStop.

I dropped in this morning at 10:00AM, when they opened, and I told the person at the counter that I wanted to pay for the GW2 Collector's Edition. He checked the computer and then took my order. The receipt printed out and he pointed out the serial code for beta access. He also informed me that I would pick up the CE box toward the release date. Overall, it was a completely smooth and incident-free experience.

I also called my local gamestop and he was able to give me my CE code over the phone.  Though ... I'd still love it if there was currently a way to log in somewhere to see that it is the CE that I applied to my account.  Y'know what I'm sayin'?

Called up Gamestop and gave them the phonenumber I ordered under and they just told me the code over the phone. Got all registered now, so excited! :D

not sure, i got mine over the phone. I'm gonna be kinda mad if I got the wrong code lol XD

Would also like to know, and if there is anyway to tell the difference when you register.
