That projectiles, even though they are conceptually simple, ?have so many cool behaviors. For example, an arrow shot from a bow doesn’t just go from you to your enemy and disappear; instead it can be reflected, set on fire, bounce between several enemies, or return to you after hitting a target, healing you when it hits.

We call these games “activities” and they encompass everything from a bar brawl to a shooting gallery.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy

Nice Find.

"In our lore none of the five races are at open war with each other but none of them are close allies either. The exception to this is the City of Lion’s Arch which is an independent city state that welcomes all races equally. In Lion’s Arch you can see charr technology working hand in hand with asura magic and the resulting teamwork has turned Lion’s Arch into the preeminent mercantile power in the world."

Sweet.. so could an auction house be located here or trade house or whatever since lion's arch was the most popular trading and selling place in GW1?

Some new information, I'm glad to hear Izzy say his job is gonna be easier ;)

It also sounds like they are ramping up for more information dumps, sounds like they have a schedule for what information comes out when.

"An asura player will always have a way to blast enemies with magic while a Sylvari player can always choose to heal their allies."

that means sylvari will have 2 heal skills (1 from race, 1 like everyone)?

I guess. But you should be able to put that racial healing skill in the slot that's for healing skill only, so you won't lose another skill slot.

"Can" and "choose" both indicate optionality, for the record.

I don't imagine this means that Sylvari will always be healers. I sure hope not, anyway. But what it does hint at (which I hope doesn't come to fruition), is that Sylvari may have a racial bonus that makes them a more preferred healer. And that creates preferential race selection instead of playing what you want to play. And that's fail.

Otherwise, it's a good article. I do feel like information is flowing a lot more freely this last week or so. I hope that trend continues.

and looping animations for hold skills
See: meteor shower in ele preview, I think. The longer you hold down the button (or mouse, maybe) the longer the effect goes, to some maximum value perhaps?

Yes! Mini-games for the sake of fun confirmed!

Quote

In most MMOs players will pick certain cities and use those cities as social hubs. We recognize that this is the case and have decided to populate the major cities in the game with mini games similar to those found in Guild Wars. We call these games “activities” and they encompass everything from a bar brawl to a shooting gallery. It’s important for us to treat our major cities as social hubs where players of all levels can gather and have fun.

One of the major things we are doing is bringing back many of the activities that players loved from the first game. For example we had a lot of mini games like snowball arena,

Yep, that's a good one.

rollerbeetle racing,

As much as I love this one, I don't want it back unless you've got a good way for eliminating rubberbanding.

Player choices will definitely have consequences. We tell a very personal story for players and consequences in that story will have a lot of repercussions on the content that a player will experience. For example you may need to get information from a villain. Do you break into his house while he’s away or attend a party with him and try to use diplomacy and espionage to get the information from him? Players will be presented with a number of meaningful choices over the course of their story.
This is fantastic news! Sounds like the compelling storytelling of a single player RPG.

Someone needs to start a "SAVE THE BARSTOOLS DRIVE!" thread. Poor things are going to go extinct.

Yuh, race discrimination much? I can't believe that will happen, coz we warned them so much! Hmm, guess we have to wait to find out how balanced this will be.
