Found this on Twitter :)

Quote

An elementalist can summon a fiery sword from the heavens that others in their party can use.

Awesome.

edit:

Quote

Charr: The charr use technology, explosives, and sheer ferocity in battle. Whether laying down a "shrapnel mine" or using a mighty "battle roar," the charr are a force to be reckoned with. Charr also use advanced tactics, such as calling upon warband support to overwhelm their foes with numbers.

I knew Charr was the race for me!

GS: We're sad to hear that the secondary profession system from the original Guild Wars will not appear in the sequel--instead, players will choose only a single profession. Why go in this direction?

EF: We did have secondary professions in Guild Wars 2 for a time before we decided to remove them. We found that they complicated the game a bit too much and also restricted how unique we could make each profession. For example, elementalists can attune [themselves] to the different elements, which will change their skill bar. This gives them an added layer of complexity that wasn't meshing well with how we wanted the warrior to play. With the addition of racial skills, we found that we just weren't getting enough out of secondary professions to justify the complication and balance issues they add to the game.

Yup. Figured as much.. Atleast they came out and said it.

It sucks not having secondary decisions but I trust AN with this decision.

I never liked secondary professions, it always took away from the value of the primary profession.

That interview was really interesting. I'm about to collapse from the info waves. Please, have mercy on me! :p (Though I could still "take" a few more info strikes... :D)

They want us to be in a coma for a month so they can plan an other coma info attack. And by doing this gw2 will come sooner, cuz, well... we'll be in a coma most of the time :D

Golem Battlesuits!

Asura: The abilities of the asura have a lot to do with golems and magic. An asura player might use a simple "arcane blast" or create a deadly "radiation field." If they are really in a bind, they can summon a magical "golem battlesuit" that they can climb into and use to devastate their foes.

I'm really saddened by Anet's decision to get rid of secondary profession.  Second class was tons of fun and added tons of flexibility as well.  If there is one thing I really wanted back in GW2 it was the secondary profession.  I had tons of fun on my Me/R, my princess bandit dagger thrower Me/A, my meleemancer N/W, my female necro with her pet wolf Cerberus N/R, etc.  With only 4 slots when the game started, second class was also the only way to see what the other classes could do by having them second class.  That is how with my  ranger being R/Me that made me buy extra slots and make a mesmer and make it my favorite class, then a second mesmer.

I'm really really shocked by this news.  And not in a good way.

First off, Anet owes me a new pair of pants. Secondly, I picked the wrong week entirely to try and stay away from Twitter and GW2G. I severely misjudged Anet's word when they said they had something in store for us and thought it'd be just like the War In Kryta deal (which was not much of one, despite my enjoying it).

Removing secondary professions is a good move.  You either had primaries not using primary skills and just abusing the secondary, or the secondary had maybe 1-2 splash skills (e.g. a W/E with Shock, or Mo/W, Mo/A) -- but there are simpler ways to allow for splash abilities of that sort than having an entire dual profession system.

Yay @ no more secondary professions. I completely agree with their reason for doing it. I think the current descriptions of how skill bars will work, and variations to them, will be very exciting, far more so than the GW1 gimmicks created by secondaries.

Most of the big balance issues from GW1 came from secondary professions and kept primary skills from being as powerful as they should be.

Happy Birthday Guild Wars!!!

I want this so bad

I'm still a bit saddened by the removal of secondary professions but I'm pretty sure the racial skills will make up for this.
