I'm disappointed that I won't be able to play my alien gizmo elf goblin character -- aka Asura.

I wonder how big the dive in LA is.

I would assume that you have to reach level 30ish to be able to make it there. Since I won't be playing PvE I'll just have wait until release to see it in person. It's probably better that way regardless. More excitement for release.

There are supposedly Asura gates that go straight there.

Man I hope their website and blog aren't a sign of the times of what we can expect when the beta opens up, because we just hosed their servers lol. The asura will be working overtime

I can't wait to see how much LA has changed. :D But I'm slightly worried about the BWE launch. Anet's servers may crash in a matter of minutes. Hopefully that won't be the case. Remember the WAR open beta fiasco? Let's hope something like that won't happen again.

Just for people who are not sure, once and for all (this is done using the time given on the GW2.com countdown)

http://www.wolframal... and 21 minutes

So it's 2100 for us Europeans and 2000 for the UKers.

GMT is GMT, they didn't mention PST or CET :

They did. Check the Blog, they said "Pdt (gmt-8)" which is wrong. I guess they meant "pdt(gmt-7)", so they start at noon = London(gmt+1--summertime) 8pm, Berlin(gmt+2,--again, summerime) 9pm

From twitter:

FYI the start of the Beta Weekend Event is April 27 at noon PDT (GMT-7), not -8
Woohoo, extra hour :)

@post above me, oh right, they did say pdt, only read the gmt part since I didn't know what pdt was at the time :p
And yes, as you said 'I guess they meant' how am I supposed to know what they meant, I only know what they said :p

Yeah - their problem is that they are mixing apples and oranges hard-core style :)

"GMT is an absolute time reference & doesn't change with the seasons." -> and then they start to adjust GMT for daylight savings time and....BOOM :D

They know now:

We're still working on bringing the blog back online. FYI the start of the Beta Weekend Event is April 27 at noon PDT (GMT-7), not -8 ^SL

Twice a year I get both amused and annoyed at how the clocks going forward or back means nobody uses the correct time zones for a while.

12:00 PDT
20:00 BST (Currently used in the UK)
21:00 CEST (Currently used in Central Europe)

19:00 GMT (Not currently used in the UK)
20:00 CET (Not currently used in Central Europe)

GMT-8 is the west coast.

You guys make no sense.

Forget time zones guys.

The answer is 2100 EU time and 2000 UK time.

So I take it those other countdowns that are NOT on the GW2 site itself are now wrong?

I think it will be 10pm on Friday so I guess I will be starting to test the game on saturday. Then on the good side the BWE will end on 10am on Monday for us so we might get to play for a few hours on monday.

No. Gmt-8 is the westcoast in  winter (which is called PST). We are in DaylightsavingsTime (PDT), which is gmt-7

Every half year....

The thing is that during the summer it is GMT-7 since the GMT clock does not change with the season (so when you adjust it to summer time you shift GMT zone). That is the entire mix up.

Better now than when game starts, all part of the testing -  though I'm sure there will be lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth no matter what... :p

Anyway, as Robin's Minstrel's once said "...and there was lots of rejoicing!"

On the left it looks like it does, however look above the frog guy standing there, it looks like the water jets up around the basin

Good stuff. I'll miss out on the initial woes from like 8pm-10pm somewhat thankfully, unless of course there are no woes...

I wonder what else new will be available.

It looks very impressive - looking forward to how it all looks when you're actually running around it!!  Shame about the sylvari and asura, I hope it's just because they want to leave some surprises for later betas rather than having is play the same content over and over.
Do you need help or just want to chat about moderation?  Drop me a PM.
