ANET HAS STARTED SENDING OUT EMAILS AND I BELIEVE ITS BY WHO ORDERED FIRST.

I found it a bit strange that the download is 20 MB on the .exe though instead of 9 but its because the orignal link on reddit was a compressed .zip folder according to certain peoples.

How do you know this is leggit?

The link is under a guildwars2 domain. It starts of with cloudfront.guildwars2.com/etc, also the client looks extremely good and the patcher has a message that welcomes you to the first BWE. If you try to login it states no beta events are available right now.

Where did my files go? HELP!
IF you downloaded without extracting they'll go to your temp folder, I couldn't find this. Best of luck to you. I had to re download it BTW

How bigs the download?
About 13 Gigabytes.

I've downloaded 10 Gigs but it states that its only 36% through the dl?
The percentage is based on how many files you've downloaded. So if you download the biggest files first its going to start of with a lower percentage.

Do you recommend downloading it now or later?
I recommend downloading it now, the downloads are run on Amazons servers(EC2 I think ) and I think they are much faster when less people are doing them.

Why does it say my DL speed is so slow but its so fast?!
For some reason the patcher displays only a 1/3 of your DL speed.

The last version of GW2 was "Gw2 13,835", this one is "Gw2 14,085" - so... I assume this is the BWE client... :D

IIRC, one of the devs (think it was on twitter) said the coming BWE was using a new build of the client, ie you would have to download it from scratch even if you had the previous beta.

Personally, I would avoid downloading an older version, as new builds don't normally patch from old ones, and you may end up using 13Gb of bandwidth for nothing.

It's a new client. It doesn't patch any of the main game files. It deletes all your old files, updates the patcher to welcome you to their "first ever Beta Weekend Event", and downloads everything from scratch.

I'm sorry but how can people be so ... ignorant? Don't be so freaking jealous of people already downloading everyone will be able to download before the weekend.

Why should I be banned if I click a link on my desktop from the previous 2 closed betas? Because that's all you need to do to make the screen popup that's been linked in the images here... it clearly says welcome to the new beta and it redownloads a whole new client (it deletes your old one).

Anet made a very nice system for the closed beta testers to clean up their old files and make make sure they don't have conflicts between the old and the newly downloaded files. Nobody who clicks that desktop link is doing something they shouldn't do or aren't allowed to do.

Good luck with hoping to ban everyone who can download some files before you can do. It makes a nice community.

Atleast this spreads out the downloading a bit, i couldn't have imagined how terrible it would be if everyone would download it at the same time.

Let people download it, it's seems very legit. Plus ti takes away from everyone downloading at once. It's a win-win i guess.

Personally i think everybody will be starting to get that link in their email boxes today.
But as usual Guru crowd is simply faster.
Either way the server won't be live till Friday anyway. And this way the downloading of the client get spread a bit and we don't accidentally DDoS their servers again.

Because the beta/stress client just changed completely and now you have the classic MMO launcher welcoming you to the BWE along with a couple of gigabytes to download (probably downloading the whole game from scratch).

If you have the previous client, just execute it and it will self patch to the latest files.

Another picture proof included so people stop calling shenanigans.

Yeah, the fact download pages have appeared on the website, the forums are back up and the client has updated shows that it'll likely be going out to everyone pretty soon anyway.  If you wait or download it now, I'm sure everyone will have enough time to download it before Friday.
