So I'm happy to see the genius ArenaNet tech is still here!
Just as the GW1 Sept-2004 beta client was able to autoupdate through all the releases and functions perfectly fine even today, without ever having to install anything else in the entire history of the game!
And it appears it will be the same with GW2 - The old "leaked" beta client I had now autoupdates to the incoming beta and I won't be surprised if it will still work in 2019 when GW3 comes ;).

The link is straight from the forum post which is linked straight from the email. Don't know what you are questioning. Any and all links ever released were for the GW2 patcher. They ALL connect to the same patching server. Doesn't matter if you download a super old patcher because it will patch to the current 21,114KB patcher and then start downloading the current build's files.

If you had a CBT3 or stress test client and you used it to patch you will be fine.

I got my email only two minutes ago as I was reading 'the old client is working right now' thread, the email flashed across my screen. Of course I go to the download link and the server is busy, big surprise there. But it's a big relief to have it, and perhaps later tonight I can get the download started and wake up to it being complete!

Okay thanks for the replies. What is the true speed of the download? It's showing 300kb/s and I've already read that its actually much faster than that... My max speed is usually 1.2mb/s on a 10mb internet connection, but I see it's actually doing x2/x3 times the speed of that... how's that possible?

I got a mail, but no download link, only links that supposedly lead to "Getting Started" Pages on the forum, but if my browser loads (and doesn't 502-out) and I enter my account details, I don't get to a Getting Started page, but rather a "Welcome to the forums" one, and none of the links to the forums appears to have any effect.

Well, I'll use the link shaolinwind posted above. Server seems right, and this one seems simple enough.

Is anyone getting 50-54kb/sec download? I have crappy internet but i usually get like 300+kb/sec, i wonder if it has something to do with too much downloads.

Thanks. It's just worrying me because I have a monthly download quota and once I reach the cap my speeds get throttled to dial up speeds.

Will the e-mail be sent to your Guild Wars 1 e-mail or your Guild Wars 2 one? As I have an ncsoft "e-mail" and haven't received an e-mail yet so I just want to make sure.

Fun fact: At constant 50 kbps, 12.7 GB take about 74 hours to download. ;)

Same here. I got the mail, but the forum is blank for me. No info-thread, no download link.
