I do, and ZeniMax would be foolish to hamper the development of the Singleplayer side of the Elder Scrolls series by transferring employees from Bethesda to Zenimax Online Studios. < This company was created in 2007, and has so far only been working on the Elder Scrolls Online.

Not too thrilled about this becoming an mmo (why does every game or IP have to become an mmo anyway?) but it better be a sandbox.

I expect a very different gameplay than the single player

It could work... but I'm not holding onto any hope. GW2 will be more than enough for me :)
Mods are what make the Elder Scrolls series so amazingly fun. Let's face it... the vanilla game? It's seriously great, but single-player mods just add so much more it's crazy! Clearly this MMO won't support mods (being an MMO and all) so I just think that people will play it for the lore and then that's it. We shall see, though :)

Agreed.  This could be amazing.  It's probably a ways away though so I'm not going to get too hyped yet.
But if it doesn't have a subscription, it will be worth at least a look.

Also, the lead designer (or exec producer or something) was the lead design on DAoC.  So, there is that.

If they make this an open sandbox game, with a class-less skill system (and hopefully learn from all the mistakes of the weird things they tried to do to the basic concept of skill systems) it could be really awesome.  And chances are Jeremy Soule will do the soundtrack.

This. MMO? The Elder Scrolls is all about going to caves and kill stuff, it wouldn't be funny to find a massive zerg of people killing everything there. I'd rather have a co-op game where you can play with some friends. Also I want them to keep the first person, but they need to change the horrific skill system. If it is an MMO, though, I doubt it's going to be first-person and all that, and will probably have an standard mmo skill system.

Hopefully this hype train will take some of the pressure off of GW2. Seriously, if you look at other gaming sites you will see this hype train at GW2 levels already.

Prediction number 2: huge let down.

Don't think I've had this conflicted feelings of a game.. ever. One side of me thinks this might be awesome, MMO set in Elder Scrolls world. On the other hand, TES has always been a singleplayer game, I've never really even considered multiplayer, nevermind MMO scale for it. It might be incredibly good, or fail miserably. Or be another average MMO.

Here's hoping for the best.

The game has been announced for 2013... and nothing is ready enough to show off yet. I don't see how this is going to have time for the same kind of polish as say GW2, and without that polish we've seen quite a series of failed MMOs. Unless they are shooting for F2P niche right out of the gate.

2 things will probably happen:

1. You get your typical TES game in full Bethesda Quality Assured ™ glory. That is bugged to hell and balanced like an elephant on a tightrope. Oh, wait this is TES. What balance? In addition, there will be your typical MMO elements shoved back in. So it'll be to the TES series what TOR is to the KOTOR series. A massive disappointment of an MMO that they could have made more money off as a single player epic.

2. You don't get a TES game. What you get is DaoC updated, made simpler, perhaps better and dressed up in TES lore. You'll get one of the best PvP games back and looking better than ever. It probably won't be a commercial success, but it damn well will be a critical one.

Which one am I hoping for? Probably number 2.

True. At least it shows that Anet has had a major impact on MMO design and that can only be a good thing. But I hope other studios keep pushing forward with design or we will all have to wait until GW3 for anything new. Haha.

So, you want it to be rushed? Bethesda games are typically extremely buggy and their QA is terrible. I'm greatly looking forward to either laughing at this or being delightly surprised. I honestly don't think they will be good for making an mmo. Also looking forward to how this will work since it holds the elder scrolls ip. It can't possibly have the same game mechanics. Prepare for waves of dissapointed fanboys.

I extremely dislike the fact that they use phasing for stuff that would usually be a dynamic event in GW2 terms... I wonder how much of the quest stuff will be like that, or if there's public content with repercussions for everyone, not just players who played through that particular phase.

Anyway... some of the stuff sounds good (enemy A.I., 3 way world PvP, combos might be more interesting with being able to set oil on fire and so on, public dungeons...) but it just feels very... not TES-y. I mean, this is definitely due to the graphics (it shows that it uses SWTOR's engine) and, most of all, there will be CLASSES? Dammit, that's stupid. Also, right now the guilds sound entirely pointless (it sounds as if you're mostly only doing the same stuff to get reputation, like destroying Demon Anchors (think invasions/rifts; to gain warrior guild rep) or finding lore books for the mage's guild. Not much in the way of having something like actual quests and storylines for those guilds... well, we only have limited information anyway.

I guess I'll just look where this is heading from now on, but I'm entirely off-put by the aesthetics. It doesn't at all look like Morrowind, Oblivion or Skyrim (well, you could argue it comes close to Morrowind /trollface), and I'm guessing this will be based on a subscription... well, we'll see I guess.

Ah yes, might have overseen that bit, but do we know if we can join another faction? I don't like being bound to a particular faction because I chose race X.

Because the name is known, and this is the internet. Joking on the internet part aside, people tend to be judgmentally prone to accept something as good or bad based on hearing the name alone - this judging outcome tends to reflect what they've heard.

Some things are just embedded into us for how to react - if we hate one movie by a certain director or with a certain actor/actress, we'll be judgmentally harsg to other movies by/with those people. And vice versa as well! If there's a movie we love, and someone related to it will be related to a new movie, we'll expect it to be great and that we'll love it, even if the genre is completely different, or we have no information other than the title and that one person's involvement.

For this, because we know the past games, and the game makers, we can judge a title. Don't mean it'll be accurate though.

Because it's a money grab business plan. Only Anet seems to be content with not doing such.

For those who want to see the non-business ideology, it probably focused on "we want the community to play together" - not always a good idea (can you imagine Amnesia having hundreds of players?)

That GW2 impact. Seriously, nearly everything in that leaked information screams GW2 knockoff. People will see right through it. I like TES, but I'd hoped they'd actually try to bring something new to the table rather than jumping on the new wave.

You summon a ghost to find out what's going on, and the ghost tells you to wear her dead husband's armor to re-experience the battle he died in. You then get transported hundreds of years into the past to fight this battle. During this battle, you can choose to save the dead man's wife or to pursue the Werewolf leader. ZeniMax chooses to save the man's wife, who then tells you that the Werewolf leader is weak to fire. This information is helpful when you fight him, but you don't actually need to do this quest before fighting the werewolf leader if you don't want to. Basically, you can skip parts of quest chains if you want, but you get some benefit for playing the whole thing. Also, whenever you go back to the town you just saved, everything there hails you as a hero.
-The game features three faction PvP where you fight to take over keeps and use trebuchets and other siege weapons to help do it. At the high end, you can have 100 v 100 battles. There are also farms and mines you can try to take over. Mots of this happens in Cyrodiil where your goal is to take over and hold the Imperial City to get faction wide bonuses for it. If you have played Dark Age of Camelot, this probably sounds familiar. For those who haven't, essentially the entire zone is a giant PvP area will all sorts of points of interest.
-The most accomplished PvP player on your faction becomes emperor whenever you take over the capital
-When you take over Cyrodiil, you will be able to adventure in it as a hostile city a la Kvatch
-The game will have raids and heroic modes for its dungeons as end game content in addition to faction PvP
-There is also balanced PvP for people who prefer eSports
-The game will also have high end public dungeons
-Public dungeons are essentially instances that aren't actually instanced, so anyone can be in them, so imagine a World of Warcraft dungeon that featured everyone on the server in the area instead of just your party
-There are standard instanced dungeons as well
-Back on the topic of the skillbar, you have a limited number of skills you can use at any given time, and can change them whenever you're out of combat
-The number of skills is equal to (paraphrase) "a light and heavy attack with your current weapon that take up the first two slots, a few more spells related to your class, and an ultimate in the last slot".
-The ultimate is used once you gain enough finesse, which is earned by doing well in combat
-You also get a bonus loot chest if you're soloing and max your finesse, and you can also build finesse by comboing with other players
-For example, a rogue can put oil on the ground that a mage can set on fire
-A fighter can also spin in the firestorm a mage puts down, which sends out fireballs
-If you've seen Guild Wars 2 videos, the above will seem familiar
-You can't combo with the abilities of enemy players though, so if an enemy faction player drops an oil slick, you can't set it on fire
-The Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood will be presented, but in what form isn't detailed as their contnet is hard to recreate in an MMO setting
-NPCs will try to work together and use player like behavior when fighting you, and (at least to my understanding) have stamina as well
-They want the AI to be good, so instead of enemies in a dungeon sitting around and waiting to be pulled, you will be attacked by the entire room and they will try to react to how you are playing
-The claim was not demo'ed to Game Informer
-You destroy dark anchors to gain reputation with the Fighter's Guild. They are large hooks that fall from the sky pseudorandomly and have Daedric guardians next to them. They are easier to kill with a group, and once destroyed, everyone who participated gets a reputation boost with the Fighter's Guild, and eventually nets you rewards like new skills and abilities.
-The combat model will not be real time due to latency
-The combat is based around a stamina bar which you can use to sprint, block, interrupt, and break incapacitating effects
-Blocking is the primary focus of these abilities, and can do things like stopping the secondary effects of attacks such as an ice spell slowing you
-Stamina also applies to PvP, so stamina management (and wearing down your enemy's stamina) is important, as your crowd control abilities might be on a long cooldown, and if you use them before the enemy player runs out of stamina, they will probably just block the effect
-ZeniMax feels that having the stamina bar will help break down the Holy Trinity as stamina allows you to do things like tank
-However, healing is still a big part of the game
-There is also no aggro mechanic in the game, which is part of the reason stamina blocking and healing exist

Which is why I'm a true Twilight hater, as I read about half the first book and can intelligently call it unimaginative drivel.

I'm calling this right now, it will be a strange hybrid of WoW style equipment grind philosophy with GW2 combat mechanics, will be unbalanced on release, and they will try the subscription model but switch to F2P + cash shop like so many other MMOs ended up doing.

Yay for totally baseless speculation!

Seems like more of a in-between WoW and GW2

The ES MMO has
-A limited skill-bar
-Weapons that determine skills in your skill-bar
-Dodging and blocking attacks, which drains a fatigue bar
-Combining skills, such as a oil-slick and fireball to make a firewall, to make more powerful attacks.

Also Healing is still a large part of GW2 .
