The only thing that might hold me back (if all that is said is true) is how much of a grind it is and the art style (well the art style won't stop me it's still very ordinary atm imo!).
Glad bethesda isn't making this: Sure they make big worlds but very shallow content imo.

So.. the (in my opinion) bland main story line is awesome as well for you? see below what I mean

However the most important thing in any MMO is the drive to make you continue playing. This can be achieved via an excellent storyline. Guild wars 2 storyline up to lv 50 is acceptable, but it can be done better. If tes online has a good mainstoryline, then i will buy the game.
...
The main storyline so far is that one of the 3 factions is trying to pull all Tamriel into Molag Bal's realm.. yeah, it's original.. oh wait, that's the storyline for "Oblivion" as well, but with Mehrunes Dagon. The PvP version of a story is that all the 3 factions want to put one of their heroes into the chair of the Emperor.
Though.. have to admit, on paper these features seem awesome:
- "Time-travel will be featured in the game. In one example, the player puts on some old armor and is put in the owner's role, participating in a battle of long ago."
- "The Tribunal will be in the game There is a pretender trying to become part of the Tribunal" (Can't wait to see Sotha Sil in an.. alive state)

That's what everyone has ever said about every TES game ever made before it ever came out.
After the games come out, the fanboys continue that theory and the remainder of people who played it either mod it to make up for its garbageness or toss it out the window.
I enjoyed Morrowind. I enjoyed a heavily modded Oblivion. I enjoyed a heavily modded Skyrim.
But I've remained skeptical about the game series since getting into it, and have learned to count on the job not being finished, the game practically being in a beta state, and an overall mess of bad design choices and gimmicky mechanics wrapped in nice textures and nifty lighting effects.
Yeah, it's being developed by a different studio, but I am still going to be extremely critical of the series, and I won't have confidence in TESO until I see a game that defies all of my expectations.
Oh, yeah, and if it follows the trend the TES games have been following, we'll have extremely simple gameplay and a choice of like ten skills made by smashing the old skills together until they somehow make some sort of distant sense.

AFAIK the Imperial "faction" is doing this, they are separate from the other 3 and you can't play Imperials (i.e. NPCs)

Well, it still doesn't change the fact that they just pulled off a second Oblivion-crisis. (though, timeline-wise this will be the first)

Meh TES games have all been ordinary to me... Bethesda aren't the best when come to original quests/story/level system. They just make big world really..
I don't know why we should compare the MMO to the games though has it isnt the same team making it and my opinion atm is only based on the 'promotional' videos..

Well I didn't knew about the story. And a good story depends heavily on how it's presented soo theres still hope.. maybe. If the content/quests are fun though I wont mind the main story much.

The name alone won't save it from disaster if it sucks. Hopefully the developers learned something from the SWTOR trainwreck.
To have some hope of success, this game needs to evolve on the main asset of the ES games: a bigass world with a metric *ton of things to do. That common feeling of doing a quest, but there's that ruined temple in the distance distracting me, but on the way to the temple a gang of bandits jumps out of the woods, and so on.
So no "exping" and "end-game" zones. I don't know if and how they'll be able to pull it off, but I'm sick and tired of huge worlds full of beautiful areas, with everyone hanging out in the same two places because there's no point in being elsewhere.
I'm also tired of everyone being able to literally go everywhere in seconds. I don't mean we should walk everywhere, but it would be nice, for a change, to have some faction-exclusive zones.
"I'm hibernian and I don't have a clue how Midgard looks. Why should I care?"
I want this feeling in faction-based games.
Combat: can't tell much yet, but it seems very dull and clunky from that video. I reserve my judgement until more detailed informations are released.
PvP: they didn't mention arenas or battlegrounds or tournaments and this is a big plus for me. If I want a skill-based, balanced challenge in a confined environment, I play a FPS, thank you very much. Player A has 100 hp and a rifle, player B has 100 hp and a rifle.
I play mmos for the first "M" actually. Wich doesn't mean "always be in a zerg". For me, it means being part of something PERSISTENT, constantly developing over an entire world, forged by the actions of huge armies, small bands and lone cowboys.
In short, still waiting for the DAoC feel, wich ANET tried to emulate, failing miserably at it.
I'm way beyond the "getting hyped over a 10 mins video" stage in my gamer life and, given the last few years' record, highly skeptical about any major upcoming MMO.
So, until proven otherwise, I'll consider this generic mainstream garbage n. 209874.

This would be a welcome change in the MMO scene. Sandbox = ulimited gameplay. The developers wouldn't feel rushed to pump out content since players could somewhat create their own, thus meaning they could actually put out quality content instead of just time-burners.
More sandbox, please.

Wasn't it Eve that was very sandboxy? I can't remember exactly which MMO it was, but I heard that it was really well done in the sandbox department. I dont mean huge content, but small things like a complete customizable player-home (somewhat like Skyrim, being able to place items anywhere) would keep me entertained for countless hours.

EVE is sandboxy in that you can do pretty much anything given enough time or people, but for an MMO to be called or compared to EVE isn't a good thing in the least. EVE can pull it off because you expect there to be nothingness in space.

Hmm I don't know if precisely GW2 playerbase would catter to ESO because of the monthly fees. Anyways I think that this Elder Scrolls game is going to be a typical MMORPG idk why, I got a feeling. Even if you can mix classes up.

It most likely will. It's unfortunate that since it is an MMO, the most beloved features probably won't be making a return (and the fact that Bethesda isn't even making it) like being able to throw stuff around, ragdoll effects, customizable houses, a billion books, etc.

I find also interesting the concept of public dungeons and the Mega Servers (all people in america connect to the same american server, and all people in Europe connect to the same european server)

I read somewhere that they wanted (or they are working) to implement a functional 1st person combat system like in any TES game. If they manage to do it I may give the game a try! ^^

Very interesting. Seems Bethesda is borrowing a few ideas from Anet. I like the single server idea but wonder how it will play out in a real world scenario.
Based solely on the video, I like the look of GW2 better but the one thing I did like in the ESO was shadows/darkness. It looked like you could actually enter places of total darkness. I would love to have to take a torch in to see foes in the dark.
The mention of cost (P2P vs F2P) was conspicuosly absent from the video though. I'm still enjoying GW2, more so in fact because I have found a great group of people to play with.

I do think people will have to go in with an open mind. I'm a big elder scrolls fans but I know there will be quite a few different things put in for it to be an mmo, so I'll try to keep my disappointment of certain features not in out of evaluating the game. I suppose it is kind of similar of GW2 coming from GW1.
