I know it's been suggested before but for some reason hardly anyone seems that bothered about the inclusion of a barber in the game.

I like to change my character's appearance to keep it fresh. I changed the armour colour about once an hour during the BWE. I don't know if ANet plan to implement a barber for release, but I really hope so.

Pretty much every MMO I've played makes you pay real money to 're-customise' your character (change face appearance/height etc.) but most of them (excluding Aion and Rift) allow you to change your hair/fur/piercings etc. for a small amount of in-game money. And I just cannot understand why anyone wouldn't do this.

Charging RL money for plastic surgery I understand but we should at least be able to change something as simple as hair/facial hair, or have the people of Tyria not invented scissors and razors yet?

If ANet still want a way to make money off of haircuts and such, they could implement this idea for additional hairstyles:

It would work like this. You walk into the barber shop and sit down and a little Asura hops on to a stool and asks you how you want it cut. Then a menu pops up with all the hairstyles that are available at launch. You can then pick the new hairstyle you want, then choose the color from the various dyes you've aquired on your journey. You can even mix dyes to create unique colors/even highlights. There is also a link you can click that will send you to the cash shop where you can preview any new "Hair Packs" that may be available for purchase. Hair Packs could contain around 5 different hairstyles for both male and females the race you choose. Charr could have different fur patterns.

There could also be tattoo parlors added later on, as others have suggested in this thread. Extra tattoos could be sold later on as well.

Yes please, these kinds of shops would help diversify the shop options in major cities, barbers, tatooshops, and combining them with cashshop unlock packs is a good idea. I too think that total plasticsurgery packs should remain in the cashshop...

Why i would like this most, well I made this cute ranger female, but after a while i noticed something, the hairstyle reminded me of my ex. This was not the association i would like with my character, and seeing restarting after 12-15 lvls was a wasted i just had to suck it up... would there have been a barber i would have changed her hairstyle straight away, forgot about my ex and enjoyed my gaming time just a tad more...

YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! This way, they could add more hairstyles, and even if you have to pay 'real money' for them, they should at least let you change it from the originals for free.

I <3 hairstyle changes!!! :D

They might add a barber but you will have to pay for it, because it's purely cosmetic.

it would also be nice(from an opposite side of the spectrum) to have your character's hair grow...even allow my Norn to have an EPICBEARD!!!!!

Good lord, I read that in a screaming voice at the end because of your Mr. Burns avatar.

Signed, I definitely wouldn't mind paying some in-game gold to change my hairstyle. I can understand them charging you actual money/gems to change your facial features, but hairstyles should not be in that same category.

I could see liking this if Barbers are in... if Barbers aren't in... I can imagine what Endgame Characters will look like...

I also changed armor colors every hour or so haha, being able to change hairstyle would be nice too, I'd be willing to pay for it.

Since my attention span is comparably short I support the idea :D
To be honest I was surprised it wasn't in yet. It was a feature in GW1 and was much demanded and widely used! I suppose they made much money with the asuran stylist...

And much better would be your idea of changing for ingame money and changing to an exclusive style with real money *thumbsup*

I can only keep thinking of wow. XD  But the old way they did it wa slet you purchase cosmetic credits and you walked up to an NPC that opened a screen to let you change your stuff.

I know I've used it at least once.

I absolutly agree with this! Sure cosmetic changes like face, skin, body that should be in the cash shop but things like the hair and its color, it should be something available in a barber shop for in-game money!

Anet, please make it happen! :D :D :D

Dont remember, I think the cash shop will have a character remaker option, name too. I do wish we could have a closet system, but that will take a long time to make trust me, I can see it in the cantha expansion....maybe.

yeah this would be a fun feature, rather than relying on a total makeover feature from the cash shop.  Pay an NPC in game money to change hairstyle/color would be very cool

GW1 had re-customization of characters, but it was a RMT. I think this feature will most likely cost you some gems if you want to do such a thing. Which isn't that bad, you can buy gems with in-game gold anyway.

Seems very unrealistic but this would be incredibly cool. And no, I would never go to a barber :3

I would not mind it costing gems, or some of the hairtyles costing gems, as long as they are unlocked for the account the first time I get them after character creation, so if I want to go back to a previously unlocked body feature, and only have to pay in-game gold.

such a feature is already implemented in gw1, therefore it is more than likely to be implemented in gw2.  doubtful that anet will miss out on a chance to make such easy money ;)  it was just probably not available in the BWE.

I would hate ArenaNet if I had to pay real money just to change my hair at the ingame barber. If they're gonna implement this it better be for in-game gold.

Just wondering, but isn't everything bought in the cash shop bought with gems? Can't you buy them with in-game gold?

Yeah, you could buy gems with in-game gold, but it feels so unreasonable that you have to go through all the trouble just to change your hairstyle. Well in my opinion it does. Mainly because you never know how much gold you have to spend to get the amount of gems you need to buy something, because the economy is always going up, but eventually if I had to pay like 2-5 gold to convert to gems to change my character's hair... I don't know it just doesn't seem acceptable to me. Why not just make players pay the in-game barber with in-game gold to get an in-game haircut?

I'm still buying gems with real money, don't get me wrong, but i'm definitely not going to use my hard earned cash to change my character's hair or anything that should be free or at a reasonable in-game price.

you can buy gems with in game cash, they almost have no way to impose this on you.

True, but as soon as gems are involved, it's likely the price will be quite high, as well in real world money as in game money. I'm not sure I want to pay 10 gold (or much higher, depending on how much gold gems cost) just to change my character's hair color for a day. For an all-around customisation, yeah, it seems reasonable. For a short change in hairstyle and or /-color, a small amount of in-game currency seems adequate.

Ahh thanks for explaining that. I do agree, i probably wouldn't spend tons of in game gold or real life money to change my hairstyle, unless maybe it was really cheap.

They'll most likely end up adding something like this end, though maybe at launch but possibly later on when players are feeling their toons are getting a little stale. It would be easy to incorporate due to the gem system already in place :)
