Hi mates. This thread is now going to be your one-stop shop for all things Thief video related. If you have short videos to post that don't need their own thread, feel free to drop them here.

A few rules to follow:

• Don't post videos without a description. Just linking or embedding is annoying and unhelpful for people reading the thread. We don't want to watch every video just to learn what they're about!
  
• Try and keep the videos coming. While critique and discussion is obviously encouraged, I'd much prefer it if we didn't spend ten pages without a single video in sight. Obviously this rule will be a little laxer in times when we haven't had a BWE for a while.
  
• Don't post videos by other active Guru members. If you're posting a video by somebody who is not on Guru, or is no longer active, please give credit for the video and, if possible, a link as to where you got it from.

To me the subtlety of Handel played like the strumming of a heart beat, very melancholy and sombre. I felt it was well executed in how the music lifted the natural complications of human combat, hence pvp. It was far more thought provoking than any other pvp video I have seen in a long long time.

The fight with the guardian in the end reminded me of some so called "eternity" duels I had with some of the few actually skilled players I met during BWE.
No one ever died in those duels. But in this case you did it VERY good. I love how he suddenly after healing up to almost max hp, you take him down in less than 5 sec, bleeds stacked up to 6 and all that. Daaaamnnnn, you are the exact opposite to how I play the thief. I do less damage but more movement. You do hell a lot of damage and stick to their pants as a baby duck to its mother.
I'd love to duel you someday. Keep it up!

Ow just a little advice for your next movie (yeah make more you're good) make the letters of that intro and ending go x5 times faster, I think it would be cooler that way, long intros has the tendency to bore the viewer.

The video was certainly entertaining, but I do advise against creating an account for the sole purpose of applauding your friend's video. Your only posts are in the two threads in which this video was posted, and two of the posts are just a copy paste. It also doesn't help that the name is so similar.

I'm not saying that you're wrong in the post, and indeed this could be your own opinions; I am just saying that it comes off a little fishy, much like the way that one sees actors in commercials go on and on about how their magnetic wristband got rid of their arthritis and improved their golf game. The hyperbolic nature of the comment doesn't help to give anything but this impression (such as " far more thought provoking than any other pvp video I have seen in a long long time.")

Edit: I'll just tell you here, b/c it's more personal. No one wants to watch a 60s intro or outro. You're breaking pretty much every rule of video editing, including your CC. I almost turned it off before your name finished, and I guarantee you quite a few people did exactly that. Showcase the gameplay, not cheesy presets in your "My first NLE". That is all.

The gameplay itself was quite ok, and the quality of the video itself was great. But I do agree that your introduction is a bit long just for a title. If you wanted 1 minute of hype, then show the sweet moments of your pvp vid in a quick montage then have your name flash on the screen before the video starts in earnest.

Production quality is high, skill level is...meh...average, music choice didn't add much to the video itself, and the changing color pallet felt retracting from the gameplay.

Nice attempt guys, video production was interesting. I agree with the other that you should keep the game sounds in to a certain degree(though the weapon sounds for daggers were largely missing during the BWE).

And the play wasn't terrrible by any means, but the quality of the production lead myself and others to expect something a bit different.

man i'm just going to delete all my comments off this video. after reading through some of the things you said I have absolutely no idea where you're pulling your arguments from. just some things i want to point out:

1. I never explicitly said AC was bad. I did say: "Just because they're a big name doesn't mean they're amazing". I'm sure they're great. I just didn't see the amazingness you were talking about. They were 3v1ing you and you still managed to kill their necro. Also you killed the same necro 3 times in the video which leads me to believe that you were simply trying to promote the level of their skill for your own gain.

2. I don't know why you're criticizing my own video when I explicitly state in my video description that "THESE KILLS ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT THAT IMPRESSIVE". I wasn't saying that I was better than you at any point in time. I was just saying to humble yourself instead of trying to perpetuate that you're this "amazing, innovative" PvPer (the C&D you mentioned during the other fight with AC, the warrior/guardian...really? brilliant use of C&D? as if no one else uses it to use backstab, come on). I may have come off as blunt but I never tried to say that I was better than you in PvP in any way, shape, or form. The way your video description and your responses to my comments were worded made it seem like you thought you were the most amazing PvPer on the planet. Which I don't think you actually believe, but seriously. Keep those things out of a video description if you don't want flame for that. Anyone that read my first major post on these forums will tell you that projecting that kind of superiority complex is not a solid way to receive positive feedback.

3. I think it's great that you want to try and extend your "artsy" agenda to the gaming community...but don't try to tell me I'm an "amateur" video editor just because I haven't studied film at the depth that you have. I threw together that montage in about an hour using Adobe AE and Sony Vegas.

Basically what I'm saying:

Your agenda really just comes off as snobby, especially through your responses to my comments, which I tried to word as humbly as possible. They may not have come off as such because honestly, it's hard to project inflection/connotation through a computer screen, but just know that I didn't mean to critique the video, just what you were trying to promote about the video.

No no, it's only me showing what the rank 1 and 2 vendors offer, but very quickly. I only managed to get to 2200 glory so, sorry about that lol.

Haha no worries! I only managed to get 18k Glory so I didn't really get the chance to buy much from the 2nd Tier! THEY REALLY NEED TO INSTALL A VIEW ARMOUR TAB BEFORE PURCHASE!

I mean I know a few months after release it'll all be posted on the wiki, but why not implement it into the game? It seems silly to me!

Cool vid, it's good to experiment with some of the other weapon sets. I see a lot of potential with D/P if it's tweaked. And lol that engi just didn't wanna die.

I got a Thief to lvl 15 in PvE (But I finished all available story line quests so I stopped playing PvE, saw no point continuing given the short time frame) and then got around 16k Glory during the BWE, I logged in to the stress test yesterday for like 3 hours (as I had a masterclass at uni beforehand so 3 hours was all I could get!) and tested various weapon sets (mainly S/P) and got another few K Glory. I'm yet to try WvWvW but I fully intend to focus on that side of the game during the next BWE.

I agree. I managed to do fairly well with D/P though so I don't think the damage of the set is that awful. The 3 skill is substantially weaker than the others but the set is still damn useful I thought.

Basically just use Blackpowder to stealth as opposed to cloak and dagger. Bakstab crit and use headshot to stop people from healing. It's good cause despite it's high cost it's easier to stealth with the C&D imo. Oh and I feel it's better than P/P cause there's no point doing anything with P/P save spam 3 and maybe a 2 here and there.

What about the opponent was skilled enough?
Do people really think that this game is all about 1-2-3 win?.....2months after release all your burst builds can go down the toilter as people will simply learn how to negate those cookies cutter builds

Against an equally skilled opponent, without burst builds, it'll come down to a single factor: disables. If you disable a Thieves Dagger Storm, you have just tipped the fight your way. If you kill the two Thieves by using merely AoE while still pressuring the Thief, you've just tipped the fight in your favor.

And it's already easy to negate those cookie cutter builds - just use blind. I beat a ton of insta-gib Warriors and Rangers during the Stress Test.

A good comparison is Unload - it does 500 damage a shot without critical and with about 2k power, which isn't that hard to get, and you don't need to sacrifice a ton of health to do it.

LBD applies 3 bleeds per rotation - use it 3 times, 9 bleeds, 10 second duration on each. That alone is a massive source of damage.

So, yeah, the damage isn't abysmal or anything. It just really shows when you go from a " high damage set " to a " low damage set ", which I don't really agree with.

Well, maybe ur right. My build was very oriented to survivability so that may have been the problem. But the friggin engineer just woudln't die!! xD my god how many times he was at the brink of dying and then regained a lot of health. Curse you Engineer! I also made some mistakes but I have to recognize that he played very very nicely his cards.

You play a lot more passive than other thieves, for better or worse.  Most "pros" out there tend to go for that huge spike damage.  I respect your play style more but that doesn't mean yours is the most effective.  In my opinion, I think a successful thief should be able to deal a decent amount of sustained damage and still be able to survive the fight.  With that said, I can't really see the focus of your build.  You can certainly take out squishy or low health targets but have no way of dealing good dps against medium-heavy targets.  Also, you don't seem to have a lot of survivability and can be taken out really quick if focused.

But I digress, my tip on the video itself is to use Cluster Bombs instead of LDBs.  You can put up to 20 stacks of bleeding if you spam it 4 times.  It's not hard to do, you just need to know the trick.  The skill can easily be used in melee range by detonating the bomb in front of you right after you shoot it.  I call it the shotgun style and people are starting to pick up on it.  You can do massive damage if people are clunked up together.
