So is the game actually decent or is it as fundamentally unbalanced as Tribes: Ascend is?

It's good. It provides the stellar design of a moba with the fun and accessability of the third person perspective. One of the hardest parts about a moba is how abstracted they are due to the top down perspective.

Usually I hate Mobas, but I started playing since the GW2 Betas back then and I fell in love with it. Its so much more fun than other Mobas cause of the reason that you have fully control of your character and it needs actually skill to hit the opponents while in other Mobas its just autoattack.

Not to stray too far off-topic, but what is the state of Tribes atm?  Did they just not speak to the pro-scene for balance?

Finally got around to playing this.  Very nice.  If you want to have a good third-person PvP experience without the MMO trappings, this is the game to do it in.
