Very nice work you got here. Definitely. I see what you ment by comment at my thread. Did you check Feng Zhu free tutorials? I mostly 90% of my knowledge comes from his videos.

I never heard of it, but they are really helpful! Great insight in the business as well :) Thanks for that!

For now, a minor revamp on my commission for Marshmallow'
Changed the orientation of the work, the other one was kind of boring.

More Chaotic approach, i like it, still wip i assume :D

No problem, and glad it helped, he is awesome young artist which did concept art for GW1 too, and his school is expensive lol, but, his videos teached me so much, and, as you said, gets some insights of the industry we are hoping to get in :D

He is very natural teacher, and i love hearing his opinions on the side from his drawings, it is not "dry" knowledge...I love his many techniques he uses to get the awesome results.

Oh, I'll have to check those drawing tutorials too. :) Been needing something to give me new insight into my drawing processes. Thanks for the tip, CKABEH!

And ooh, the wip for Marshmallow is looking very nice. Just wondering... will you be putting up finished drawings anytime, or constantly new wips to tease us? ;) Not that I mind looking at your wips, I love seeing your painting process.

Eh well, I have the same problem. I have like... 8 sketches and 2 unfinished drawings of my GW2 characters which are just kind of stuck in limbo. :D So many ideas, not enough time, and a deficient attention span yay!

Quick sketch, bringing Feng Zhu into practice. I'm at work now (easy job :P) which allows me to draw, but can't access ala and trish's works from here, so I started quickly sketching. 1,5 hour.

I wish I was allowed to draw something like that at work... instead, I'm stuck drawing other things. :/ That drawing looks so awesome! I love the buffness and the dramatic background. I kind of agree with you, the norns in the game aren't "nornish" enough sometimes.

Also, CKABEH has a point, the hammer has weird perspective. The hand holding the hammer/mace thingy isn't drawn in the same perspective as the weapon, especially the top part of the weapon. Some of the hand's underside should be visible as well.

Well, it's not I'm not liking them, I just was expecting more Kekai influence, both on physique as armor. They had such great designs and so little implemented.

Tried fixing the hammer a little, didn't do much of a great job, but I think this empowers the pose a bit more then a purely realistic view.

EDIT: Hmmm now while looking at it again, it looks a lot smaller :/ Must fix that.

I can understand that.   They did end up feeling kind a bit like generic vikings.

The hammer does seem smaller.   Not that I'm one to talk, perspective is my kryptonite.

I guess I am a sucker for single character fashion/armor drawings, but I do like this one much.

The color come out wonderfully, and I like the paint brush feel.
Any coloring tips or step by step turtorials?  I could never color in right....*sigh*

Euhm, it's not the answer you want to hear, but it's nothing special :P
Either I just pick the colors, or I start with black and white and proceed by overlaying colors. Think a few easy things to remind are the following:
Don't overdo colors in these. Just very darking, not too saturated oranges, greens or blues. Keeping things dark really helps I think.
Use different value across the character. I always make the boots the darkest (which is a bit overdone here), I make the hands a bit darker as well, chest the lightest. And anything thats further away more desaturated and darker (like the arm in the back).
Kind of all I can think of. Just don't be afraid to remove the colors you already had and throw in new ones (the clothing in this one was blue to begin with), in the end you'll want to be able to always select the colors you want. So removing and replacing is only more practice ;) If you like I can do a paint-over sometime if you think my very belittled skill in color helps.

Yo :)

For landscapes, i cannot stress enough the wonderful tutorials of Feng, which is my inspiration, definitely. Check it out: http://www.fengzhude...m/tutorials.htm , episode 45, for example. It is more what you listen than what he is painting. I hope it will help :)

I am not good with landscapes either, but i am learning much from him, definitely.

Very nice landscape!   Really beautiful pastoral scene.   Post more if you get the chance!

(I've been playing GW2 too much, I keep expecting a giant cave troll to come charging through that gate :) )

I love the colours of the left doodle and the grumpy expression (on the dodo?)  but what is going on with the other one? why the blood?

Early concept of Alberto, a character I created during class today. Lotsa fun! The other thing is the Gnomnom, the monster he will face in the story.
