Free Guild Hosting Sites:
These sites will host your guild site. They are usually very pretty and have a lot of nice add ons. Some can be confusing to set up and it may be better to have an IT savvy person in your guild attempt this. Downsides are advertisements and limitations on storage, as well as life of the site. This is not all of them but these are some of the major ones. Most will take your money to increase your storage and for extra perks.

Paid Guild Hosting:
This is where you go out to a place like go-daddy, buy a domain and have the ability to create a site and then have these companies create a site for you or place in a form they have already created. These types of sites may not have as many bells and whistles, but tend to show a dedication to the guild. No advertisements, large amounts of storage, support willing to help you with your site, and site stays around as long as you pay the bills. Downsides are that start up can cost some some money (mine cost close to $200 all told), and the continued expenditure of yearly fees (domain name).
