In this post made by Anet http://www.arena.net...weekend-preview
They say they have added a mini dungeon, skill challenges, dynamic events, and even jump puzzles to the WvW maps. I think this is just what WvW need. Now when I am wondering around trying to find some team members to storm a capture point I can be having fun doing these things instead of just walking around wasting my time .

It is also another thing to distract others so while red team is doing a jumping puzzle I can storm there keep.

They are all welcome changes in my eyes.  The mini dungeon is an especially cool addition, and skill challenges are something that WvW definitely needed just so you don't have to PvE to unlock your skills.

The dungeon is also another method of giving PvE players the chance to fight in WvW without having to directly fight another player. Setting up traps or running into them is far more impersonal than getting killed by a players weapon skill. I like it very much. :)

Yeah just what WvW needed - hundred players on battlefield doing jump puzzles and fighting for pointless reward in the dungeon instead of sieging the objectives for their realm :) [/sarcasm]

No kidding. WvW is dumbed down enough; this jumps from super-casual to 'holy shit, i hate confrontation but still want to play WvW' casual.

I'm failing to see how completeing a jumping puzzle is helping your server.

Perhaps it isn't really for "dumbing down" WvW to get more PvE players in.

Perhaps it's quite the opposite.

What if it is for the "I just want to spend all my time in WvW" crowd so they can get their skill challenges done and duke it out with other players over a jump puzzle?

WvW is suppose to be a blend between the tradiational open world PvP and DAoC 1v1v1 PvP. Adding a dungeon and skill challenges is perfect in my eyes.

i welcome these ideas only because i don't want to level up in pve zones, i want to level up in WvWvW. I prefer being close to my server in WvWvW so that i can assist them when they need me the most and in between those epic fights i can just level up my character. I also like the suspense of having someone trying to gank me in the middle of a mob fight, and vice-versa.

I am all for dungeons and dynamic events, but jump puzzles?  Also, I am very concerned with the dungeon being placed in the Eternal Battlegrounds.  There is already little incentive to play in the Borderlands, where as the Eternal Battlegrounds has already been consistently overcrowded.  It was completely unnecessary to put yet another reason for even more people to cram into EB.  If anything, we need reasons for people to populate the home world maps, which at the moment are getting very little attention.  This worries me.

Dont think WvW needed anything, its the Best thing about Gw2 and more or less the only thing about it Iam looking forward to. I will spend 95% of my time there.Fine they added more to WvW but tbh it was great already, the one part of the game that differs from other MMO's & the only thing that matters to me... and most "true" PvP players.

Don't worry - once the folks that come for the PvE get trashed by the folks that take WvW too seriously, they won't come back. Which is also a fantastic plan to keep a mass PvP mode alive.

Good point. It would be nicer for each server to have its own dungeon and maybe even fanner going around defeat ting each server’s dungeon.

The way I see them working WvWvW is to  add a bit of content, see if it works well, then add a bit more.  Seems to me that they are as serious about WvW as sPvP, which is great, as it is their answer to PvP servers.  So my opinion is that we will see more content added, even post launch.

So....what? Do i foresee people qq'ing the players who are doing one these things instead of fighting in a battle?

If you don't want to do it then by all means don't.

They way I see it, mostly "casuals" are gonna be doing these things anyways...and everyone seems to not want them in WvW "zerging and messing up the epic battlez". So everyone gets what they want.

Why are some under the impression that jump puzzles are going to occupy people endlessly, distracting them from wvw?  If I recall the jump puzzles in last beta, they were done in a minute or two.  This isnt going to have a major impact on game play, think for a second before posting.  And if you dont want to do the jump puzzle.. ummm... dont?

All this talk of jump puzzles makes me wonder if they will gain your server some type of advantage and how hard they would be to do with an enemy pushing you around.

I rather would have had more servers.. no queues.... (or was my server the only server with queues, not able to enter www?)
They only added more servers for PVE.
They gave away tons of free keys.. so servers will be even more populated

Okay my guess some of the jump puzzles are for Skill points as they are also used in PVE, WvW was lacking in Skill points, so that you had to go pve to get stuff unlocked so you could come back and WvW.

Dungeon is great, gives you something else to do and Daoc had something like this that as I understand it rocked. Warhammers take on this was not done really well, but sometimes could be very fun.

Also remember it is beta, if this doesn't go over well they can take it back out, wasn't in there last time was it????

I'm not sure why everyone is crying over jumping puzzles? - surely there's great amusement to be had waiting to blast your opponent off just as he reaches the top.... :)

Are people's memories really that short?   Warhammer Online by Mythic had those jump puzzles you hate so much.  I remember them but here's a bit of proof:

http://www.gamespot....pdates-6195970/

Quote

Yes, Warhammer Online will have a jumping puzzle.

The article is referring to the beta but Mythic added even more jump puzzles after the release.   I remember one stupid jump puzzle in particular in that Egyptian/Land of the Dead zone.   I remember it because I was trying to get to a major PQ going on the north side of the map and I got stopped by another idiotic public quest that consisted of giant birds grabbing people off the road, lifting them up and dropping them onto nests that you had to jump down to get away. By the time I got down from the stupid thing the major PQ I wanted to do was over and I had missed the whole thing.   Good job Mythic.

They had their chance and like so many of the old-school MMO developers, they have shown that they can't make a game that will survive in the current MMO market where quality is now a demand of customers.

First off, I'm all for all this.

Secondly, the jump puzzle my friends and I found, took us almost 2 hours I believe. It was really hard, and tricky.  The puzzle actually tried to throw you off, wasn't always 100% we were doing the right thing.  I loved it!

And it was in the WvW zone.

Warhammer was flawed in so many ways its hard to count.  From what I've seen of wvwvw none of these flaws exist, except possibly over abundant aoe.  The idea as I understand is to bring more people into the wvwvw zones, not take people that are already wvw-ing out of action.  Once in the wvwvw zone its easy to get fed into the overall action, and during slow times you can always go chase enemies doing dynamic events.  This is reminiscent of daoc where even if there wasnt a battle ongoing you could always go look for people leveling since the xp was better in the frontier and some willing to risk it.

If the dynamic events actually interferred with wvwvw I might have a problem.

Stop and think. Adding more "pve" servers means adding more WvW servers.

If previous BWE had 45 servers (I didn't count) then it would've had 15 WvWvW matches going at once. 15 instances of Eternal Battlegrounds.

If next BWE were to have 90 servers, then it would have 30 WvWvW matches going at once. Also if each server has a little less people than last BWE then all 3 servers in a match-up will have a little less people queueing to Eternal Battlegrounds.
