Hello all,
I participated in BWE1 with no problems, downloaded through launcher just fine.
I saw today you could update your launcher in order to prepare for BWE2 so I started the update. Everything went fine until about half way: the download stopped and showed me an option to report the error to Anet. I did so, and restarted my launcher, the download started from where it left and it seemed like what it was just a random error that had ocurred. No big deal. After 2-3 minutes I got the same error again and I reported the error again and relaunched it. Same thing, download started from where it crashed last time and the same error would appear no longer after than 1 minute. Reported again and started again and so on. But now I get this error every 5-10 seconds of download so I thought to myself it would be impossible to download the update like this. I deleted all the files from the GW2 folder and started the GW2.exe, so I could reinstall the game properly.

But now, even downloading only the BWE1 patch, which I could with no troubles before, now gets me this error frequently, and I needed to know what this error means and what can I do to fix it!

Assertion: Received incorrect amount of data from HTTP server.

Thank you for your attention, I look foward to play the BWE2!

Yeah, I'm having the exact same problem... :S

Tried reinstalling, rebooting, changing folder, run as administrator, turning off the firewall...nothing helps...

Maybe it's on their end. If other people have the same problem, try later. If it stays the same, maybe try a fresh download?

There was another thread where a couple of people were experiencing the same problem. From the nature of the error, I thought it looked a bit like a data corruption, but since you are still getting it after clearing everything and starting again from scratch I'm not so sure. Did you clear everything, or just the data files? Bit of a long shot but you could try downloading a fresh client/installer if you didn't delete that, or maybe try using the -image switch, though not sure either will do anything much. You may possibly have to wait for Anet to get back to you and explain what the nature of the error actually means and possible solutions. Sorry, probably not much help.

Well, by looking at the error name we can conclude that its on their end because the HTTP Server we are acessing to get our files is sending us shorter files than it should be. I checked the Beta forums and support FAQ but no signs of this error there. Let's just wait and see then :/

EDIT: Guys I've redownloaded the installer again and currently its on 95% on downloading the BWE1 patch. Seems to be working so far. I'll get back to you again after it starts to download the newest patch.

i have started to redownload again the all 14 gb and i get the same error msg everytime i try do download the patch.

this is quite annoying and makes it impossible to download the game.

the only thing that helps ease my frustration is the fact that every error notice i get, i send Anet the report, this way they can keep track of how many times i have started to download the client.

it seems to be dowloading properly now, at least it has not crashed.

Nevermind. The freaking error is back. Each time sooner than the last one. God dammit.

Guys, so far in my other thread I only saw portuguese people involved. Is anyone on this thread with the same error and currently is not in Portugal?

My two other friends downloaded the full patch without problems.

I dont understand much how errors works, but wouldnt be the first one with the internet providers. If it isn´t fixed till thursday I will have to bother a friend of mine to "give me" the game.

Possibly due to server traffic perhaps?

Just saw another portuguese pointing out this error on their facebook.

Anyways, Ive tweeted them about it, wrote as much as I could, since tweets are very limited text size...

Hum I honestly dont know if it could be server traffic. They did double their servers, and, more people trying to download the same files shouldnt  cause us to receive small files of the same name. My only guess is that with the update they made some files smaller and then the launcher tells us that this is wrong because he wasnt told of the files being smaller.

I downloaded the first patch fine.  While downloading the next smaller patch I'm getting the same error.  I'm in Texas with Comcast.

Anyone figured this out yet?

There is a countdown right above the auto play when I run the launcher.  The countdown goes down from 5, when it hits 1 the launcher crashes. The heck?

Restarting download.

I see that countdown aswell but I believe it was there before. Also mine crashed a bit after that countdown, so I dont know...

Bad HTTP response for 0x0004924a -- length: 8388608; expected: 16713532

This explains what I was saying: we are getting smaller files than we should.

Since we already have different countries and different internet service providers, we can rule out problems caused by ISPs.

64bit windows 7.

But I am sure a great chunk of people are 64bit windows 7 aswell. Otherwise we would see a big rant on the forums about this. Ill try to run it compability mode though.

EDIT: Same problem. Thing is, we cant run the program in 32bit if our OS is 64bit...

OS 32 bit here.

Almost sure its Anet problem, if the problem persists tomorrow I will contact the costumer support.
