It's Krytan. And you should be able to read/translate it. :)

Well there you have it. I'm not interested in trying to translate at this very moment, so you guys have fun and I'll join in later.

Edit: An update:

Regina Buenaobra said:

According to our languages expert here, Matthew Medina, there will be a few "readable" languages in the world of Tyria in Guild Wars 2. So, if you're not able to translate Krytan now, you may be able to do so in the game, if you work at it. :)
Looks like Matt listened to my request. :D

We have three things we can translate at this time, it would seem. Including one thing from GW1: The Talmark Ruins. Here are current translations:

Posted Image
Translation:
Line 1: Target
Line 2: Shootout

Posted Image
Translation:
Yellow Line 1: Happy
Yellow Line 2: Hour!
Orange Line:x-x Afternoon
White Line 1: Favorites!
White Line 2: Sugary Blue Drink
White Line 3: Bottle of Grog
White Line 4: Flask of Firewater
White Line 5: Eggnog
White Line 6: Spiked Eggnog
White Line 7: Vial of Absinthe
White Line 8: Witch's Brew
White Line 9: Hard Apple Cider

Translation:
Far Left Column: D - H - U - 1( - 2?)
Middle Left Column: R - L - I - N - 4(T?)
Middle Right Column: 5(T?) - 4(T?) - E - Y
Far Right Column: S - P - O - I - N - G

NOTE: Some have said that the letter denoted as 4 is a T, while another said the letter denoted as 5 is a T - 4 is similar to the first image's T, while 5 is similar to the second image's T. Also, on the first column, it is hard to tell if there is one or two letters at the end.

I figure, even though we don't have access just yet to the krytan alphabet, that it will be somewhat similar to old ascalonian, as by the look of it, some of the symbols are distinctly similar.

Probably. Just like Latin is the father of many modern languages.

Look at the board on the front of that shooting gallery! Our chances have increased!

exactly, I would be nice to have a high-res version of that image, to make it a bit easier.

Also, has anyone had a good look around kryta since the War of Kryta started, have any new snippets of text been found?

There is certain similarities in Old Ascalon an Krytan alphabet, for example the letters E, M, G, K, O, S. But can't really go further, since the image is rather blurry, and a lot of the letters have evolved differently from the Old Ascalonian.

And on the board, some letters can be translated. I'll try to do something...

hmm...that first and last letter of the first work looks like what I was having trouble deciding between J and O.

someone in the other thread mentioned that they look more like these runes then the Old Ascalonian alphabet:

Meh, ninja'd by San.

There is a thread on GWO of looking through all the Tyrian runes, I'll look for those found in Kryta for similarities. It looks like they took pre-existing runes and made the translatable (just like I asked Matthew to do! :D)

Here's my interpretation so far:

Posted Image

The first word appears to be TARGET or target. There doesn't appear to be any different casing.

After some decyphering, the second word must be SHOOTOUT or shootout.

Posted Image

This appears to be a different language than what's on the Shooting Gallery Sign, as none of the characters seem to carry over, notably the A or the E.

This would make the second word 1-2-3-3-T-3-4-T.

*Target Shootout*

fits perfectly :D

Hmm, lets assume so... though, the letter A looks like an Y...

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 4 - T - 4 - 5 - T; could be:

N - E - L - O - O - T - O - R - T

edit:

Also, could represent:

N - E - B - O - O - T - O - Z - T

N - E - V - O - O - T - O - Z - T

On the board, many of the yellow letters are PERFECTLY matching with the Talmark ruins.

The H like yellow letter is on the Talmark Ruins' first column. The first yellow word also has 2 downward arrows, which is the second letter in the far right column. In the second yellow word, we have the = like rune, which is right under the downward arrow. Then you have the 3 like rune - far left column, third letter down.

If the shooting range is indeed Target Shootout, I'll use those as number replacements. The H from shootout is the first symbol in the yellow words, and the U matches one other rune, thus the yellow in the sign would read:

H - 1 - 2 - 2 - U
H - 4 - 5 - 6

2, 4 and 5 being on the Talmark Runes (We may finally translate those things!)

N - E - L - O - O - T - O - R - T

N - E - B - O - O - T - O - Z - T

N - E - V - O - O - T - O - Z - T

mm, I must've seen the 2nd letter H as two letters actually. Shootout makes sense now. :)

It looks like my last post is all we can get of the yellow letters from Target Shootout. I'm going to try to translate the Talmark ruins as well.

Oh wow, nice catch. That really opens the door to the rest of it, if true.

If Happy Hour is indeed true, then the orange word is most likely AFTERNOON.

If the orange is indeed afternoon, then the X's denote times or digits. Finally a language with numbers!

I'll read the Talkmark runes by collums:

Collumn 1: 1, H, 2, 3, 4 [looks like an E, but it's reverted]

Collumn 2: 5, 6, O, 7, 8 [probably M?]

Collum 3: 9, 8 [another M?], 10, 11

Collumn 4: 12, 13, O, 14, G

the 4th column, bottom rune of the talmark runes is definitely repeated many times in the board. looks like a questionmark.

That doesn't work out if Target Shootout is right. Because the "y" in Happy is shared with the U in Shootout.

I also question the O, as in the sign it is like an =, and the Talmark Ruins has two parrallel lines, one of which is curved. The o matches the curved one. So your y and o is off. Assuming the Shootout is right, of course.

Maybe the sign 'TARGET SHOOTOUT' is calligraphed, written all in capital letters or sth.. And remember that the screenshot with the board is blurry, so there could be some differences.

And regarding the obelisks - language evolves ;)

You didn't understand. The obelisks has both the curved and the straight = like sign. It can't be the same letter. I mean, would you right LikE tHIs? Would you combine cursive with print? And the screen with the board isn't blurry, just small. Move close to the monitor and you can see the letter is straight, just like the far right column, 3rd letter down - and unlike the letter right under that one.

Also, updated OP with current findings.

The yellow may be the name of the place, as well. Or Shootout is wrong.

I'm fairly certain that Happy Hour and Afternoon are correct.

This is the Board as I see it:

Quote

Happy
Hour!

x-x Afternoon

Favorites!

Sugary Blue Drink
bottlee of grog
Flask of firewater
eggnog

Spiked eggnog
Vial of absinthe
witch's brew
Hard apple cider

It's a work in progress, so I'll be updating it as I decipher letters.

Should be:

f--or-----(-)!

Guessing it's something like "favor-----" ? No idea really.
