With Guild Wars 2 following an unusual B2P model more commonly seen in non-MMOGs, players are likely to have different expectations of what they paid for.

As far as additional costs, the way they're worded is fairly unequivocal and it is difficult to say these things so far in advance, but I am reasonably sure that I will be buying expansions.

No.. not time spent, but the quality of the thing I'm paying for. The quality dictates whether I think X deserves my money. I played 50 hours of Diablo 3, but ultimately I thought the loot system and endgame sucked, and that is what the game was all about. They didn't deserve my $60, so I got a refund.

if you think you've already gotten your moneys worth now, ask yourself "would I be content if they announced that they were scrapping the project tomorrow?"

If I can absolutely help it, the only thing extra i will be purchasing with my credit card will be expansions. Really would like to get my gems via in-game gold trading.

Who knows I can get my moneys worth if I meet the best friends of my life on day 1.
as for other costs, I already upgraded my pc if that counts and I will likely buy expansions.
gems will depend on how useful they really are I may never buy them if I feel that doing dungeons and stuff is easier.

The BWEs are the most fun I have had in any recent MMO.

The nostalgia factor from GW1 and the whole this is something new and amazing to explore part have already made my purchase well worth it
I'm going to avoid spending real money on things if I can help it, but I don't mind shelling out for extra character slots or anything else that really strikes me.
Any expansions they release are considered to be already paid for as far as I am concerned xD. (As in, if they release them, I will buy them)

This is the basic criterion I ask myself whenever I'm considering if I've gotten my moneys worth from anything or something similar. Sometimes it's yes and sometimes it's no. I definitely would ask for my money back though, but I'm certainly happy that you're satisfied with what you've been given already!

I don't think its necessarily down to them being easily pleased, it involves a large amount of future sight as well. If you played in the BWE's and you absolutely loved it (like me) then you already know you're going to love it at launch and be playing it for a long time, so in that respect people have already gotten their money's worth.

But I suppose I expect more from an MMO of GW2's caliber than a few short weekends of fun. I invest emotionally in the few MMO's that I play (up until now just GW1 and Star Trek Online) because they give me an intense emotional experience that lasts for months and years. I don't have to play the game daily, but I do need to remain interested and emotionally involved for a longer period of time for me to feel like an MMO is "worth it." Which is why I picked 6-12 months in the poll.
That said, I fully expect to "get my money's worth" out of GW2, without a doubt.

A lot of people view it comparing to other game genres that cost $60. Most $60 games today you are lucky to get 25-30hours worth of gameplay out of it, so when people have played GW2 BWEs for 50-100 hours they see it as more value for their money than a typical game. Now when looking at traditional mmos this seems off, but GW2 doesn't have a subscription fee so people are more willing to make this comparison. And this is without all features implemented and about half, if not a little bit more, of the areas are still locked.
(I personally didn't vote this in the poll, but just trying to explain it.)

Also, compared to a lot of games that come out now, I got more content that I enjoyed and replay value in the two BWE's and stress tests for $80 than I'd get in a $60 game. And because I feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of GW2, I will be buying gems from the shop. I don't mind putting extra money into a game when I feel like the upfront cost was worth it. And when even with purchasing gems will work out to pennies-per-hour with how much I expect to play GW2, I consider it well worth my money. Much more so than a lot of other activities. Same goes with expansions.
I did spend extra money on hardware and peripherals, though. Granted the graphics card and new PSU were needed anyway and not specific for GW2, and a new headset was needed to replace my crappy old one. But I will be getting a Logitech G600 specifically for GW2. I'll use it for other games, of course, but GW2 is the primary reason for that self-indulgent purpose

Sorta like Diablo 3. I could continue playing that for months and months yet I believe it to be one of the worst games ever conceived, thus meaning time spent doesn't mean much at all. For Guilds wars 2, though, I could only play for a total of 20 hours and get my money's worth, because it's so damn fun to play!

Yay now people will use fanboy as a term for more obnoxious reasons. Some one doesn't agree with you, fanboy, some one likes how a mechanic is, fanboy, someone feels that they got their $60-80 money worth from the BWE (when compared to most normal games has given more game time per dollar), fanboy. Seriously its getting old and to the point where if someone uses the term, it is better to just ignore them if they are going to use that as an argument tool. Going by these forums you are either a blind fanboy or a dictator troll.
Whether it is by quality or time played, this is purely a subjective matter that will differ between person to person. Just like not everyone will like or love the game, some will dislike it or hate it.
And before you go calling me one, I did not vote for that option and I have my list of complaints about the game. I just find anyone using either terms for arguments/discussions ignorant.

And if it's anything Like GW 1, I'll be in it for a looooong time(above a year, without expansions). But I am not bonkers about GW 2. There will still be GW 1, WoW, DoW 1/2, TESs, LoL(order is NOT random). Anyways...

If i'm still playing after a few months with minimal gem spending, then i'll be closer to my monies worth. If i'm still playing when expansions are released, of course i'll be in line for them (figuratively speaking).

As for extra costs, I voted "will buy the expansions" simply because even though we don't know what those will look like or contain, I bought all the GW1 expansions and liked them, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. If I see one f*king panda though all bets are off.
I don't know about gems tbh. I have never been into dressing up my characters but if they have a rockin fedora I just may bite.
