I don't see how people think they already got their money's worth. Are they just talking about the enjoyment of buying something before release? I can't see someone feeling like their $60 was worth it if Anet said tomorrow that they went bankrupt and couldn't launch the game or refund any purchases. Everyone would be pissed.

However, I wouldn't say that I wouldn't ask for a refund if they just scrapped the project now if only because I would have been expecting to be able to play the unreleased content/play during times that aren't the BWEs.

Yup, the fanboys are out. So, too, are the haters apparently....
On topic, I will have gotten my moneys worth within the first week of play. This is about as long as I would expect from a comparable investment in any other game which I enjoy playing (and it is not only about the time, but about the enjoyment of that time). I don't really include time spent in the BWE's since the characters played in the BWE's will be deleted, the game was unpolished, and the gameplay was limited.
I will definately be buying the expansions and also spending money on gems. Guess that makes me a fanboy too. o_O

I spent about $50 in gas to go play at PAX Prime, getting to stand in line for 2 hours to play for 40 minutes. I spent $60 on buying the actual product, about 100 hours AT LEAST researching the game, talking about the game, and watching youtube videos. I took 2 days off of work to play the first BWE and will buy every expansion possible and plan on getting as many character slots as possible.
So... I think that will all be worth it about 1-31 days after launch, and well, I voted other in the 2nd poll because I will be using the gem store and buying the expansions.

So yeah, just for giving me good moments of fun and bringing old internet friends together for some epic ass kicking felt great! For me, GW2 purchase already has paid off more than most games out there and I can't wait to have more fun upon release and surely I'll help the developer in the long run.

I played gw1 5 years before officially quitting, and I expect a mmo to last at least at year.

I expect to play GW2 for years and see the community grow, yet, as I saw a close to finished build of this I can rest assured that it was money well spent and won't backfire on me like TORtanic, which was a huge time and money sink.
Say what you will, but most people voting there just are impressed and don't feel any remorse on the money spent, since IT WILL be nice to play, in no way a person saying "yeah, GW2 is worth the $60 bucks", "These BWEs were amazing!" or "Just WvW sold the game for me!" means that person does not want to play it for a long time...Yet it can mean they had fun and are happy with their purchases.
(Sorry for the english...)

Publishers have taught us to be happy with paying $60 for one month's worth of content. It's the new standard.
Hope no one has a problem with this >.> <.<

I really hope GW2 does well and forces other companies to change. If not, I don't mind playing this game till GW3.

You misunderstand. They are saying they like it so much now that they know it is worth the money they paid for it.

The second question needs a "none" option; I ended up picking "other" in its place.

I'm a fan, but to say that you've gotten your monies worth already is pretty strange in my opinion. Each to their own.

I tend to get a lot of time out of good MMORPGs and expect to play GW2 intensely and obsessively for a long, long time.
1-31 days. I'll probably play 40-60 hours in the first 2 weeks of release, thus matching a typical premium PC game. I can barely get anything done that I want to in the limited stress days and beta weekends for the slew of beta alts I have. I'm sure I can keep busy for months without getting serious about PvE or PvP.

I'm confused....did they change the poll after you posted? The poll I answered read, "When will you have gotten your moneys worth?," and compared to a lot of crap that's been put out, that I've spent just as much money on...well, lets just say that GW2, with the amount of quality and polish this game has already as well as the fact that there is no subscription fee has caused me to step back and consider what my money is truly worth.
Now as far as my expectations go for the game itself, that's a whole other ball of wax. It is after all an "MMO" and so, yes, I have expectations of the game that go far beyond "my moneys worth", like server stability and game longevity (ie. barring some great natural disaster, that I will be able to long into the game long after it is released). However given the fact that GW1 has been up and running since 2005, that they've had, IIRC, somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 hrs total down time for updates in those 7 years, as well as the fact that when I log in now GW1 is not only still there, it is still being played and running well. Given all these things as well as the fact that they already have a solid history of supporting their games post-release I don't think that I or anyone else has reason for concern as far as expectations go. "My moneys worth" has been honored for a change, how refreshing.
edit: btw, I think I should have been a little more considerate in how I opened my response to you. I could have just changed it but I think this is a perfect time to remind myself how easy it is to be misunderstood using a medium like this that lacks facial expression and tone tone of voice. Actually any time I read a post my brain fills in all that stuff itself rofl

I didn't really appreciate how lame a sub fee was until someone came along and said I didn't have to pay it anymore rofl

I usually get bored with a game between 250-300 hours (or about a year), so if it lasts me that long it's a success.
Extra costs will be an MMO mouse.

Because i know after release i will be playing like over 9000 hours of this game because after I've played Guild Wars 2 Beta now all the games are junk to me except Dota 2 and some classics.
So now i need to wait 54 days for the best game of the year.

As for the other question, I will buy the expansion(s), most like, and that'll be it.

I chose 6-12 months post release but my reasoning and thought process is a bit different from most. To me an MMO is not worth buying unless you can get longevity out of it.
I bought collectors edition for 150, and while most of that value is for what comes in the box I bought it with the assumption that I will want memorabilia because I will be playing the game for years to come. I also know for a fact that I'll likely be spending an additional 50-60 dollars on cash shop items the first month to get bank slots and maybe one or two char slots. So a 200 dollar investment to me is only worth it if I get atleast 6 months of fun out of it.
