with the beta weekends already having player charged for changing servers, I was curious how this was going to work with the wipe and all. I read through some of the info on it and was under the assumption that the a complete transfer, all characters on 1 server will be moved to another server, and in the latest stress test I didnt see anything for switch active servers to play from, and was curious if during the wipe, will we be "stuck" on the server we choose to play on in during the beta until we pay for for a change or with no characters existing will we be free to choose any server again?

They've stated before that EVERYTHING will get wiped, including server choice.

Btw, there's a Q&A section for this kind of thing.

EDIT: Having said that I now can't find the quote I was thinking of...

Everything will be wiped.  You won't have your characters, server choice, character names, etc.  It's all being wiped.

Wipe before release means that you will have to choose your world first before even creating any character.
There will be no charge for it and you will not be stuck with server from beta.

Appreciate the answers (I had ask this same question on other forums), is there a world server list so I can pin down servers for US west coast?

So when servers go full at release will they lock from people choosing ad their home server?  I see this being a potential problem splitting up guilds if servers hit full very quickly.

On a similar topic the question is, if they wipe it for next BWE do we get to choose home server aswell? For the BWE that is.

If BWE3 is a dress rehearsal for the launch then you will be faced with same choices you had in BWE1 - before doing anything you will need to pick a server - then you have your character creation etc.

I personally don't see why they would need to do that - it is not like there will be something new this time around or something that didn't already happen during BWE1.

Guilds are cross-server.  So you don't need to split your guild.  The only drawback is that you can't play with the entire guild in PvP if you're cross-server.  For PvE you can be guested.

The way I see it, for release they'll just clean the entire database to its empty state...
