Okay. So since i have faith in all of you people, I will not ask if you know what the Digital Deluxe Version of Gw2 is. Because I gather that half of you have bought it already.
Anyway. I was thinking; comparing prices; and researching the game, when I started thinking of the benefits you receive for buying the DD version

So, the benefits of the DD version are these..

Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill* (Skill Summon)

Miniature Rytlock* (Mini pet)

Golem Banker* (5 days)

Chalice of Glory* (1 use)

Tome of Influence* (1 use)

Okay. After seeing these, I decided to investigate how much they contribute to your game play.
I admit, The Summon Mistfire Elite Skill, and the Miniature Rytlock sound pretty cool. So I won't bag about those.

Okay.

Tome of Influence = Give your Guild a One-time Influence Boost. (Useful for obtaining Guild Emblems, ect.)

So you basically have a book which grants influence for you guild; or the guild you have joined. I personally wouldn't use this on any guild but my own; because of the fear that you won't permanently be in that guild. Like a scenario; when you use the boost on a Guild, and the next day you are kicked out. I would be pretty upset; as I was a main contributor.

Chalice of Glory = Grants you bonus glory for each PvP match

Above all, this seems to be the one worth the least to me. An item, which you can also obtain from chests in PvP. Bronze chests, Silver chests, Gold chests. All providing you with different rewards.
I myself have opened my fair share of chests, and each time received a Chalice of glory that gave me a temporary boost of Glory.

Golem Banker = Grants a portable Golem which gives access to your bank anywhere in the GW2 world for 5 days after use.

I must admit, this seems the most valuable to me. Check out the prices of a 1-time use bank access from the Gem shop below.

Bank Access Express 35 for   1   / 125 for   5  =  Each portal allows access to your bank from anywhere once.  

  

Giving the fact, that you might use the Golem Banker over 100 or 200 times during the 5 day's if you are a 24/7 player that has a full inventory, here is an estimate. (Just an estimate, don't go abusing me because of bad estimates. )
So, 150 x 35 = 5250 Gems. And 5250 gems.... Is a lot of real-life cash.

+1 to Arena Net for throwing that bonus in.

All in all, it's a pretty good variety of bonuses for the extra $20 spent to buy the DD version.

But what I want to know is if you guys think it's worth it.
Post what you think, and we'll help some people make their minds up on whether they want to buy the DD version or not.

I didn't get it for the temporary stuff, I got it for the permanent stuff. Though the gem comparison makes sense, I wouldn't have spent my gems on Bank Access anyway, so it's not going to "save" me anything. It's clear that neither the elite skill nor the miniature pet are going to have any significant effect on gameplay.

So truly in the end I spent an extra $20 for cool but rather useless things. Fortunately I have a lot of discretionary spending available, so I don't really care.

I wish ArenaNet had released a Mistfire Wolf elite skill video the day prepurchases were available. I probably would've bought a deluxe edition, if the skill looked cool.

True. But even then, If your bank was full, you could be rearranging things, etc. And the Golem banker would be sort of useful.

Personally I think the Golem Banker sucks being on a timed use. It would be better with something like 25 charges or ideally a long cooldown and infinite use.

The Influence and Glory are kinda lame being 1 shot items too...but meh don't care much about either one of them really.

well, the glory thing means little to me...maybe we can give them away to others
i bought the DDE because of the mini and the skill, as i could not afford the CE this time, and i just like having something from the special editions

i think the bank access will come in very handy later on, and it might be useful for crafting if one did not want to run to the bank to stock up on supplies, though it would probably come in handy much more out in some long dungeon or other area where you away from banks and got lots of different loot drops

There's one thing the DD has that isn't one of the listed goodies: convenience.

Prepurchasing from a store usually means two trips. One to prepurchase and another to pick up the box. For some people, this is either time consuming and/or costs money, or is out of the question altogether. In my case, bus fare to and from the store each time would be $5 and ~1 hour round trip, for a total of $10 and 2 hours either on the bus or waiting for the bus. For a mere $10 more I can save myself the time (and possibly avoid dealing with drunk/drugged up people) and get some bonus items.

And for those who live far away from a brick-and-mortar store or in a city with poor public transit, it can be even worse and basically both trips end up being an all-day trip. Release day shipping also tends to cost money, assuming a delivery can even be made

While I'm rather indifferent to the Chalice and Tome and will probably sit on my Golem for a while before using it, between the elite, Rytlock mini and sheer convenience of the DD, I do think it is worth the extra $20 in my case.

I guess you've made a good statement there. But I'm sure that the 'convenience' would cost less, if you buy the regular version; instead of the DD. But hey, a cool little rytlock.

Honestly, i bought it for the elite skill and the mini charr. The elite may be useless, i do't know, but i sure like to have the option we don't have to be 100% productive all the time. And that mini, well it's nice to have a little charr with you (to practise soccer )

I have bought the DDE myself, I guess that pretty much answers your question. I never buy things that I consider to have less value than the asking price.

Yea, Good thing you don't have to pay for gas and use up your time with the DDE...

You could use your Bank to hold other armor sets, so if you are doing a dungeon and find you have a better suited armor set for said dungeon then it would be quicker to access your bank from the dungeon then traveling back to town and then back again.

As far as crafting goes you may also have spare salvage kits and or harvesting tools in your bank. Just to save backpack space. Then if you are out in the middle of nowhere and need some more tools you can just grab them from the insta-bank.

I know going back and forth is only a small inconvenience but, that is mostly what this cash shop if for,convenience and cosmetics.

I'm not sure why I decided to get the DD copy...  None of the extras listed even appeal to me  

Oh well, I don't mind supporting developers I like, because there's not many.  The golem banker will be handy during the 3 day head start too I guess.

I wanted some stuff that separated me from the rest. Something that i can show off in six years so people can see that i was there from the start.

Therefore, i got the Digital Deluxe edition, as the physical items in the Collectors Edition have no value to me.

I got DDE for the Mystfire Wolf elite and to support ArenaNet. All the one-time use items might as well be not there. The Rytlock mini doesn't appeal to me either as I don't like the humanoid/NPC minis in general.

I got it for the mini and the guild boost (since i do lead a guild, so it will always be useful) The GOLEM butler will be useful, but i'd have preferred it to be less useful (maybe even just the same as the gem store bank access) and permanent. But ah well.

You get that on any pre-purchase, so isn't a component of the deluxe edition.

I got the CE, so wasn't much choice. But if CE hadn't been available, I'd have got the deluxe, because hey, more stuffs.

Eh. The golem banker is nice, but not worth the extra $20, even in combination with the mini and Elite skill. Maybe if it were permanent, lasted 10 minutes when summoned (undismissable, but completely ignored by foes), and then started a 1 hour cooldown once it dismisses itself.

I agree, I was really curious about the ability and what it does and how it looks. It could of swayed my decision but I rolled standard.

Not really. Saves you a trip back to the capitals or Lion's Arch to do your crafting.  Virtually no point to doing crafting in any of the zone hubs where all the crafters gather, especially if you've routinely been sending materials to the bank.

That expectation can make you upset later.  Cause you really do not know if the Rylock pet and the Skill will end up showing up on the Cash Shop.  I wouldn't doubt the Rylock pet is already available inside the Mini Pet packs.

If your a crafter its immensely useful for not having to run back and foward to the bank while you craft to get the stuff you send to collectible, and no inbetween stage items can be collectible banked, so all thouse trouser fronts leather armbrace parts and etc. In fact i think a crafter in the initiall grind phase will have the most use for these things.

It would be nice if there was more, cool collectible stuff rather than evaporating usable items though.

I really regret getting DD, since only the Charr and the Elite are permanent, and the elite probably isn't very useful either. If the chalice of glory is the same from PvP, then it is a huge disappointment. I'd get much more interesting stuff by spending $10 at the gem store.
