- Pick a server. This will already be determined by my guild by release.
- Fill up the 5 character slots with predetermined names. Three I'll be carrying over from GW1, the other two are single word names. Do the single word names first, since they don't have any reservations. Besides, my main will be a multiple word name. Rush through the first four, just worrying about the name at the end.
- The 5th character, take time on the creation screen, making sure I pick the answers I want. My first I was is asura, so hopefully, that will open next BWE. If it does, I'll write down the exact steps and levels of different things like height, color, etc. I will also have a predetermined answer for the life story questions.
- At creation, immediately go to key binds if I don't get to carry them over (they probably will). Bind the keys to a predetermined layout.
- Go through the starter area, just concentrating on unlocking my weapon abilities. Any other weapons that drop, unlock those, too.
- Rush those through to the persistent world, making sure I've unlocked my weapon abilities before I continue (if these aren't happening quickly, go ahead and continue without unlocking them all). Have a set plan of the heart quest areas by level in front of me.
- Start a guild or make sure a guild mate has started a guild. Make sure everyone has invite privileges.
- Knock out the heart quests, one by one. Be sure to pick up skill point challenges along the way.
- Pick up your personal quest so you're matching its level to your level. This is because they typically give a drop and you want to maximize that piece of equipment.
- Get gathering tools as soon as I find a vendor, and loot everything I come across. Make sure I get the daily achievement in everything. Also, get generic versions of all weapons I don't have yet and unlock all weapon skills.
- If there's a TON of WvW going on, go out there and get as much XP as I can out of it. Until I get bored with the other bullet points or my curiosity overtakes me, though, just keep rolling unless you hear a lot of discussion over chat.
- Make sure I hit the discoverable areas, waypoints, etc.
- Have an exact plan of the order in which I want to unlock skills. Take in consideration how many need to be unlocked each tier.
- At the point I'm at a pause point with character progression and WvW, go into the store and buy enough gems to get my vault fully unlocked, and any other items I want.

Seems like a normal kinda of typical plan other than the odd ball OCD stuff at the beginning.

-Pick a server. Get frustrated when I find out that the server is full. After several failed attempts at joining, pick another server.
-Make one character. Spend one hour creating said character.
-Dye armor with appropriate colors. Realize that the armor color clashes with the character color. Go back and mess with the character creator some more.
-Think really hard of a character name. After half an hour, come up with a really cheesy name.
-When in-game, see someone with a character whose name and appearance I really like. Why didn't I think of that?
-Eventually warm up to my character. Unlock weapon skills, do hearts, DEs, skill challenges, etc.
-Find random mountain. Try to climb it, in the hopes of finding a secret at the top.
-There is no secret. Jump off mountain.
-About to move on to next zone. Realize I forgot one point of interest on the other side of the map. The nearest waypoint is contested.
-Search for guild. Find one that I like. It's on a different server. Silently weep that I can't join them in WvW.
Edited, because I came up with some more stuff.

- Spend 1/2 hour on Vent with my hubby, my best friend and my bestie gal pal choosing which world - out of the least populated ones available - we actually want to play on.
- Spend another 1/2 hour with hubby and best friend nagging bestie gal pal and I to hurry up and get our toon customization finished, interspersed with hubby and best friend making smart-alec comments about how long it's taking "the women to get ready."
- Spend another 1/2 hour agonizing over personal story line decisions, weighing pros & cons.
- Spend 2 minutes telling hubby he'll be sleeping on the couch for a week and BF that the next time he comes to visit, I'll be making a closet his guest room, if they don't stop nagging me and BGP to hurry up.
- Offer a suggestion that maybe they should have married each other, instead.
- Ask BGP if she'd marry me should I "suddenly find myself single and free..."
- Zone into starter area and fight whatever little fight we have to before we can get into the city.
- Move between all 5 racial cities, plus Lion's Arch, getting all waypoints & landmarks
- As my hubby and best friend chuckle indulgently while I chase after anything that catches my attention, remember that the reason I love them both so much is because they're totally tolerant of the fact that even at my age, I'm easily distracted by anything shiny...
Beyond that?
No clue.
There are far too many shiny things in GW2 that are likely to lead me down paths I could not imagine right now!

-Create a Norn, find the fastest way to gain levels using the Norn zone (because that will probably be the zone with the least amount of persons).
-Study each and every zone, each DEs, each heart, how long it takes to create the perfect route to level without going into WvW.
Release :
-CC will be done quickly, BWEs are there for that.
-Finish the first mission.
-Find the 4 other persons that will help me achieve my GW2 goal ("Find" as in group with them, not find 4 random strangers)
-Level using the route I established.
-Get that freaking armor, while making sure the other 4 focus on my goal

My plan is to create my five characters, enter Tyria and then breathe in and chill out.

Posted 06 July 2012 - 06:53 AM
2. Rush through character creation of my one planned Asura character to make sure I get the one-word name that I want.
3. Go back and take much more time and care creating (or recreating, if I can play one in BWE3) my Sylvari main.
4. Take my time to fully explore, enjoy and revel in every nook and cranny of the Sylvari zones and personal story.
5. Sometime before the headstart ends (probably on day 2 or 3), buy enough gems to get 3 extra character slots and create my remaining characters who want to use heritage names from GW1.
6. At some point in the future, delete my Asura (and any other characters whose creation I rushed through) one at a time and immediately recreate them with greater time and care to appearance and personal backstory. This assumes that after the headstart and release day, GW2 will have the same "keep sole rights to the name for 24 hours after you delete the character" feature that GW1 uses.
7. Once all 8 characters (one of each class) have been created with their "final" appearance and backstory, take each one to the appropriate master craftsman and give each a primary crafting discipline appropriate to their class.
Keep in mind that I've already finished the very first step that comes before any of the ones listed above. That's where I create a spreadsheet and carefully plan all 8 characters, including race, profession, primary crafting discipline, and ALL character creation/backstory choices. Gotta make sure I'm spreading things out and getting a good balance of different choices (i.e., personality types, origins, etc.)!
I suspect I'm just a tad bit more OCD than the OP.... ;D

- Use BWE to find names that aren't taken
- Get up at 5am, grab server & names
- Breathe sigh of relief, log off
- Go to class
- Sleep
- Don't play GW2
- Be awesome at finals

- Rush to select the server I want.
- If it is already taken, just select another server with a cool name and try guesting on the other server.
- Send message to IRL friends who will most likely be sleeping at launch what server I choose.
- Rush my Asura name, just because I bet with myself I could have it, even if it is most likely not going to be his name.
Good luck for those who will have exams at the release, I don't know if I could take it.

My GW2 plan: Make my Guardian on Crystal Desert and get 100% Queensdale by the end of the first day, and 100% Kessex Hills by the end of the second day (what I did during BWE1).
Also, make my 2 Guilds. One for RL friends, and one for my in-game group.

That's the current list. I'm sure there will be more before the early start date.
My plan:
- spend 30 minutes in character creation to make my main perfect
- relax and enjoy the game where my curiosity takes me
Much less stress that way.

use the character builder here. some of the options might be swapped around but is very accurate. You can read and pre plan your character.
http://gw2.luna-atra...character_tool/
Also at release make all your names first, just pick a race hit skip to the end and get the name. Dont start your actual character creation untill AFTER you delete the character. Nothing more frustrating then making a character that fits a name only at the end to find out it is taken.
Also I have the theory that since names are reserved to your account for at least a couple hours after deleting, you could reserve more names then you have character slots by deleting characters. That way if you want more then 5 characters with unique names, you can reserve the names for 4, then on the fifth account make the extra names, delete, log into the gem shop, buy a slot then go back and get the character with the name you reserved

-Turn on the computer
-Silently scream at the computer to hurry up
-prays that i dont get hardware failure or corrupted dat file
-Opens game, silently screams at the cilent to hurry up
-Pick a server that is not too many people but not too little.
-Prolly call all my friends to choose a server, or maybe they might call me. That happened in BWE2...
-Rush through all 5 char slots with my favourite names
-Each slot = 1 different race, classes: Ranger, Guardian, warrior, ele and mesmer. 3 male 2 female
-Login on my main, assign keys, finish that tutorial thingy
-Try to do as many DE as possible and finish all the goddam hearts
-SAVE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
