Guild Wars 2/3 on Consoles and at Gamescom?!

"Arena Net - Guild Wars 3" followed by a list of platforms. PC, PS3 and Xbox.
Then a few days later a news story cropped up here on it:
http://www.psu.com/a...ght-come-to-PS3
So what is this mysterious listing? Are Arena Net going to Gamescom? Is Guild Wars 2 coming to consoles soon? What about Guild Wars 3?
Perhaps Guild Wars 3 is Cantha or Elona?
What do you guys think?

It's possible they will show/announce GW2 console yes... the "3" was a typo.

There has been essentially nothing to hint a console release.

Not to mention it'd have to be mouse/keyboard

This game has very few abilities.
Some professions like engineer or guardian or ele with their 10+ abilities or targettable AOE are going to be challenging to design for the gamepad but I'm sure it can be done. The classes like warrior and thief can already be easily mapped right now.

Well yeah in general there isn't alot of abilities. I just have a really hard time imagining playing PvP with a controller..

People who want to play PVP competitively won't be using a console in the first place. The console option is for the more casual player who will dabble in every aspect of the game (I doubt they will even have the same servers as the PC counterpart).

Except the conference call which announced a console version was in development (and Anet explaining things further on here)? I doubt the console version is near completion, but it is definitely being worked on.

Also I think that people using consoles aren't really into MMORPG.... I'm certain that there are some, but not as many as there are on PC
Also console crowd is going to have it's own server, they can't be put with PC crowd for obvious reasons. Having said that, are there enough people who would buy GW2 for console so they can have nice WvW... it it going to justify servers, etc...
I honestly doubt that gw2 will appear on consoles any time soon.

Those silly things called friends who do not have said PCs. That's why people play on consoles. (Well that and console releases like Gears, for me.)

Based on past NCSoft reports we do know they have been working toward releasing on consoles, however the PC version is their top priority.
How they are going to do it, we'll just have to wait and see before we panic.
And no, GW2 is not over console's heads graphically. Sure the highest settings are, but that's not unusual in games. (Skyrim, Crysis 2, BF3 .etc)

Sorry, but I will wait until we get an official response.
EDIT: That said, an announcement would make more sense... it could still be a year away.

And to top it off how are you going to play GW2 with a console controller? Unless they get a mouse and keyboard for their console they will be at a major disadvantage to pc players.

Yes you can, if was high end at the time (just like the 360 was).
The console version will be ugly, sure, but it should hobble along. I don't know if they'd go cross platform (consoles to PC), since they'll likely have to enforce lower player caps in maps for performance reasons, and also that patches require verification time on consoles.
They could also fix many hurdles by going console-only in terms of the console servers. They could make mobs easier so that selecting the right skills as quickly isn't an issue for example, because controllers will undoubtedly gimp the player.

A well designed multi platform game wouldn't share menu designs that don't work on both.

The problem is that Dragons Dogma was a single player game and my PS3 struggled to run it in parts so there would be no way it could handle hundreds of people spamming skills and seeing as there is no mention of next gen consoles being release I think it would be a long time before we saw Guild wars on a console

Well, remember when Final Fantasy XIV launched on PC, then the PS3 version was announced to come out ~3 months later, back in 2010? Yea, here we are now, 2 years later, and the PS3 version keeps getting pushed back more and more. Guild Wars 2 could very well do the same thing. We don't know.
Feel free to add me in GW2, Xuphor.6194
Also add me in Second Life if you want, PM me for those details.
