Any benefit in choosing a male character over a female one or vise versa?

Yep only aesthetics like different armour. No other skill or stat benefit

Back when I first started playing EQ1 I did an experiment. I made a male toon and asked noob questions or for money in /say in a populated area. I got exactly nothing. Well some rude comments but thats it.

I did the same with a female warrior and a pretty large % of players gave me money and gear.
