[Grittz N Gravy]

So as the title says do you think the character wipe will wipe guilds also? They say they will be saving contacts and technically a guild is just 1 huge multi person contact so maybe they will stay? I was just curious what other people thought and would it bother you personally if you found that you were no longer part of a guild once you log in?

When I meant Everything, i didn't mean guilds.

If you want a list of every single thing that will be wiped and every single thing that wont, you have to ask ANet directly.

Guilds are character bound, not account bound. Therefore, if your character gets wiped, then you are no longer in that guild even though your account still exists; whereas in GW1 as long as your account remained, even you delete all your characters, you'd still be in the guild. So if every character in the game gets wiped, then every guild would have 0 members in it. I'd assume that guilds with 0 members automatically disband, otherwise you'd have a bunch of guild names reserved for guilds with 0 members to which nobody can every possibly get invited.

"EVERYTHING will be wiped" would kinda include guilds wouldn't it...
And well obviously i read the blog if i asked the question and referenced it in the original post
And this isnt something that google can easily solve, and if i had Anet on speed dial i would but sadly i dont and i doubt my fb post will be answered so i went to guru.
Some critical thinking skills can do so much if you took the effort...

Actually guilds are account bound if you change chars in a guild you will still be a part of it and can do all the "guild stuff" so its still like GW1, and if so then what your saying is that guilds wont be wiped then cus technically our accounts will be in but just no characters?

I would think the guild will be wiped, or at least they will have everything striped from them to not give them a advantage when the game launch.

Guilds will probably be wiped, so you'll have to create them again.

Does it really matter, they were gonna be wiped by release anyway. This will only give you more practice of finding eachother and getting back together again. Its probably a plus; promoting unity.

Seems pretty clear to me... everything but contact lists will be deleted.  Including guilds.

Actually, I do believe guilds are account bound.
But in this case, its really the accounts that will be wiped in fact, other than unused gems purchased for real during BWE3 and contact lists.

For all intents and purposes, I do not see why they would leave guilds unwiped regardless of how they are bound.

The only 2 things I've heard that won't be wiped are contact lists, and if you buy gems this BWE they will be available when the game launches.  It would make sense for guilds to be wiped because they want all guilds to start off on a level playing field when the game launches, because many had plenty of influence and also upgrades.

contact lists, could be tied to your account name, not your in game name. So yes guilds are wiped. My hope is servers are also reset, so players can join the server they want to join up with.

Yes, they will - they already said so on twitter (even though I can't find the quote right now...).
So we will have to recreate our characters, guilds and we can choose the homeserver again. Which is good, because I don't think everyone will want to keep the guild he/ she created. So we will get a clean start when the game launches / at the headstart.

Well if they are letting us keep contact lists so we can keep in touch with our beta buddies, stands to reason that guilds should not be wiped for the same reason, doesn't it? We'll need ANet to give us an answer of course, but I don't see why they'd choose not to wipe one form of community building and then wipe the other. Maybe they did though, who knows, certainly not any of us.

I asked Support about this last week and they said that guilds will be wiped. And given how guilds require that a unique name is used, that makes sense.

Guilds are account bound yes.. as in each character you make will be in the guild you made (if you are a GL) and the guilds you joined. But for practical purposes, if you have all your character information deleted, then there won't be any GL of that guild that you made, effectively making it disbanded. Thusly it stands to reason, that for this BWE we will have to remake/rejoin whatever guilds we were in previously, just like we will at headstart/launch.

Just make sure you get your guildleaders' IDs before the launch, and you can hook back up quickly.
