I downloaded the client last week with out any problems but now when i try to run it it pops up with a crash error, the same crash error occurs when i try to uninstall it or reinstall it. here is the first part of the crash error

Update DirectX drivers.

Post your DirectX version and what OS (Operating system) do you use ? (Please tell details, NOT just "windows")

Check if you have a log file made by GW2 or something. My friend had a crash problem with his old laptop and from the very bottom of the long error message we found that his display adapter didn't support shader model 3.0 which is mandatory for GW2 to run. Long story short, he has a new laptop now.

thanks for the replies, im not very technology savvy though so im not too sure how to find out the operating system im on and how to update my DirectX driver
Also all there is at the bottom of the crash message is this:

acording to that info you are using DirectX 8, and version 9 minimum is required.

Just google directx and you will find a download link quickly..

You will want to download "dxwebsetup.exe". Google that, it´ll redirect you to the official microsoft download page. If you download that file and start it, it´ll automatically update your direct x to the most recent version your system is capable of. That depends on your Intel HD GPU you are using and your operationg system.

the version = ... isnt the direct x version its the graphics card driver
like mine says version 8 and i have directx 11

ok, i dont think its a problem with the directx because it installed fine and iv run the client a couple of times, i think it has something to do with my computer but i cant work it out so ill just go over to my friends place and play it on his client. Thanks again for all your efforts
