I really can't decide between Gandara, Desolation, Piken Square, or Gunnar's Hold. It doesn't really matter since I haven't found a guild yet, but still! >.<

In case some people don't know what EN means in the thread title, it means english.

Hopefully for this weekends beta I'll be on Gandara.

I'm having a hard time deciding. On the one hand, I'd like to play on a server with as many good players for structured PvP as possible (which would mean either Gandara, Desolation, Whiteside Ridge or Blacktide), but on the other, I'd prefer them to have rudimentary social skills and not be total dicks (Piken Square, I guess).

Well, now we actually know desolation is the primary UK server, our guild is heading there :P

If you find out you can't and need to think about upgrading or building another, check here.

Will be on Tarnished Coast as it is the unofficial roleplaying world.

Was hoping for an actual official RP world, but Anet doesn't want to deal with the extra effort to moderate one (rather silly to not have a dedicated RP world in an RPG).

So will settle for the unofficial one.

First sentence of the thread says: "I'm curious which worlds players (and guilds) in Europe who's primary choice of language in game is English will be rolling on for BWE3 and live."

Basically who is rolling on European servers that speaks English. It's a fair question really considering the amount of different languages Europe has.

I was going to put GB (Great Britain), but working in London I know nobody here speaks English. ;)

But seriously, some of the best guilds I've been in have been Scandinavian lead with English as the primary language.  Europe's such a wonderful place! ^_^

So far Desolation seems okay, havent encountered a lot of multi lingual going on there, but if that goes on full retard today or tomorrow, me and my guild [PUNK] will be switching to... dare i say it... yes... Vabbi, eventhough one of our guildies does not want to be in a server which has the tag of 4chan's /vg/ on it.

Everybody please tell your guild leaders to go register, it will hopefully make choosing a server much easier!

My guild played on Vabbi for BWE3, but will likely change for live, as there was a lot of public chat in "strange" languages that I couldn't make out (most likely Polish and Russian, as I found that a Polish GW2 gaming site has picked Vabbi, and so has a Russian Alliance with 5-6 guilds or something).

Currently favoring Gandara, which seem slightly less populated than Desolation and hopefully less public chat that none from our guild understands (we wanna try and avoid "server full" issues if we can, so Desolation is off our list).

Hmm looks like we may have to change our plans.  We've been on Aurora Glade for all three BWE's but it seems that's been claimed by Spain?  I'd happily roll on a Dutch community server, can't speak the language but damn I love you guys and you speak english better than most english speakers...

/sigh how difficult will it be to get on Gandara or Desolation is the question...oh what an annoyance..

Since we are forced to read English in school as part of the passing grades, there is something like 90% of the population which know English as a secondary language. The other 10% dont know what this "internet" thing is.

I dont think I saw any other language on Shiverpeaks (not in public chat anyway). If only it wasnt so smock full. Out with the dutch! :P

I saw a lot of French... Which is what I didn't understand.  Some servers are designated French, why go to a non-French server and keep talking in French?

I'm sorry if this message comes across as negative, I really don't mean to antagonize anybody but I can't be the only one who thinks having finnish, dutch, polish, austrian and even slovene guilds knowingly pick the primary and secondary uk servers kinda defeats the purpose of this list, can I?

I'm only asking this because I've had some pretty bad experiences with multi-lingual servers in the past, where general chat would be filled with half a dozen different languages making it uncomprehensible and I've been looking for a list like this one specifically to avoid such a situation from happening in guild wars 2.

So what do you think guys? Am I wrong to hope for a stricly english speaking EU server for launch?

I see what you mean, I'm a bit surprised there isn't a server that is stricktly english speaking, so it seems.

I'll just avoid Fr and Du servers....no problem with French od German ppl, it's just that i speak English quite well, but do not know a single word of those 2 languages. :P

Atm, planning to go on a multi nationality server, like Whiteside Ridge.
I just knwo i won't get on my "national" server, that's sure.

Haven't decided yet. I hope chat will be kept in english in all public channels on all servers that haven't got an official language, but past experiences makes me skeptical. Maybe I'll go fo Far Shiverpeaks since that's the unofficial swedish server. I played there in BWE3 and it was mostly english in chat luckily. Otherwise I might go with any of the multi language ones.

We played on Gandara, simply based on that it sounded nice and was on the list of servers speaking English. I had no clue I shouldn't have been there.

While not a native speaker, I would prefer a server where public converstions would have to be in English only. I don't enjoy my chat window filling up with language that is incomprehensible to me and even less I like it when I can understand and what is being said is either pointless or mean.

What to do at lauch is still a mystery to me. Doubless I will enjoy the game on any server, but will try to avoid the ones dedicated to any specific nations. I might need to contact some old friends about it as well.

If Desolation is going to be a server with lots of UK and Finnish guilds, it should be fine for me. Us Finns know english and I personally wouldn't like a server with lots of languages I don't understand going on in the global chat.
