I have to disagree. Bag/bank space and gem prices are currently my biggest issue with the game atm. I think it is practically impossible to play through level 80 without buying bank or bag space. Not everything used in crafting fits into the crafting tabs thereby forcing you to put things into the main bank space which is only 30 friggin slots! 30 is just a pathetic amount to start with and shows that they are obviously forcing the cash shop on a supposedly f2p game. What makes things worse is the trading post being down so people are trying to store things in the bank until the TP is back up when they can finally attempt to sell stuff. On top of all that, there is NO discount for bulk gem purchases??!! That's a double screw you by anet! Limited inventory space to start off with, plus no discount on bulk purchases even if you ARE willing to purchase that extra inventory space. This all just wreaks of a money grab scheme to me.

I'm not trying to encourage buying of gold in anyway with this post, however the price of gems from the trading post directly from ANet is completely unfair and unbalanced. To prove my point on Gates of Madness you can buy 100g from pretty well any gold selling site thats spammed in Lion's Arch for $30 USD. Take 100g and convert it straight into gems at an extremely high price of 1g 80s 0c for 100gems, the resulting math ends up buying you 5500 gems for $30. To buy 5600 gems straight from ANet would cost you $70! that's more than double the price. I've purchased gems from ANet when I first started playing and I'm reluctant to do so now because of the huge difference in cost. I don't condone the buying or selling of gold so that's why I'm going to wait until ANet looks into the issue further.

ANet decided their prices before the game was even released. Of course goldsellers are going to give you a better deal: they need to compete with ANet. And do you seriously expect ANet to adjust their prices to those of the parasites hollowing out their game? Puh-lease!

If you set up your own guild and have all alts represent it you can get another 50 slots relatively easily. Log each alt in each day for up to 50 influence and then gain influence from regular play.

I would say the cost of everything is a tad high however some things are a bit more ridiculous than others. IE I find that character slots are a much better deal than the one shot consumables (15 gems for one consumable lol make it a 1:1 ratio then I may consider it. The equivalent of running to a merchant for me doth not = ~1 dollar good sir - more like a 0.5 cent)

I think it's a little bit ridiculous right now. 10 silver for 3 gems? That makes it virtually impossible for me to get more bank/inventory slots without spending real money or an insane amount of in-game gold. This wasn't exactly what I expected from being able to succeed without using real cash.

I still remember when forum posters were saying how the gems were so cheap and how they will continue to be so cheap after the game launches. OH THE NAIVETE. Wish I could dig up some of those posts it would be hilarious to read through them right now and to see who exactly said it.

The main issue with gems is that virtually everything in the Black Lion Trading Co. is worthless. Why oh why would you ever spend 75 gems on an unidentified brown dye? Or 2 gold on a booster of all things? Not to mention the keys - how much real-life money does it even cost for them? Not worth it at any rate.

Due to the fact that the stuff in the cash shop, with the sole exception of the unique armor skins (Primeval, etc.), is overpriced garbage, nobody wants it and it causes gem prices to soar up. This has virtually no impact on anyone except for those wanting more bank slots, inventory slots, armor skins, or character slots.

Not saying I want there to be insanely useful items in the cash shop that are brutally difficult to obtain in regular gameplay, but... it's pretty clear why the prices are the way they are. Gems are useful for four or five things, and nothing more - so nobody's going to want to buy them, and the prices are going to go up.

An easy "solution" for lowering prices would be to have 1-3 gems drop off of champion mobs after death - the price would rocket downwards over the course of a day. But in the meantime, if you find it impossible to farm enough gems to get another bank slot or inventory slot, make it a longer-term goal and work for it over a week or two instead of a day.

The only thing I don't like is the constant fluctuation in gems to gold transfer.  Many of the items on the trading co. are useless to me.  I don't farm karma, I play until i'm bored and log.  I've purchased gems specifically to xfer to gold to purchase exotics for my 80s.  The dungeons suck this game and aren't worth the time to redo when I can purchase exotics off the trading co.

Since the only items in the Gem shop that I would consider purchasing is more character slots. 800 Gems for $10.00 is exactly what I paid in GW1 each for the 2 extra slots I wanted back then. So to me the price is quite acceptable. 5+ years later and no inflation, this is better than Real Life!

If I can beat the end game boss with a sword I crafted or picked up in a drop. All the while wearing armor I purchased from a Karma vendor, then I have no need for the Gem shop stuff. If I can't beat that last Boss this way, then I'll have some issues with them.

Most items in the Gem shop are cosmetic. I have no need or desire to waste my cash there. Besides, my daughter's Barbie needs a new dress

Gem bulk discount is basically untenable thanks to the gold <-> gems conversion. People buy gems in bulk and trade it all for gold at lower prices, gems devalue, then multiple gold grinders pick up the gems introduced by that one discount purchase. The system basically takes a bulk discount and spreads it out into tiny packages distributed among many gold traders, which destroys the point of a bulk discount in the first place (giving an individual extra if they spend alot.)

Discounts can however be offered on bulk *item* purchase, which as you might recall, is exactly how they did the black friday sale, and there are several items with an everyday bulk discount, like salvage kits.

You can beat the end boss of this game while in the next room cooking dinner. And then you'll realise that burning your dinner would've been far less disappointing than the abomination that is the Zaitan fight.

Its not so much the price of Gems, but the value of what those Gems will give you that is the issue. I am happy to pay for shop items, but the junk just isn't worth what they charge

I myself think that buying boosts gives players advantage. I have been relying on rewards for that stuff. Then they wonder why players have reached a plateau faster than anet expected. Giving players a sense of Bordom then having to come out with fotm now selling consortium chests. How many purchased this stuff with in game coin compared to real currency.? I bought this game Cuz of no subscription.  I wont pay 10$ a month worth of that stuff making myself earn it through coin. The better question would be. Do you think coin-gem is too high?

In the first week of the game, the price where 50silver for 180 gems. it went down to 50s for 172gems. I said 'Oh i will wait abit, it will come up soon. I didnt have much money to buy them too.
Then it never went up, like i fool i did wait and wait and wait trying to get more money to buy them if it ever went up again. Now im looking at 50s for... 22 gems ?
