I'm very tempted by a male Sylvari mesmer and a female Charr ranger. I still cannot decide who I will play first and will probably end up playing both depending on when my friends are online! As a third, female Asura necromancer.

Having a very tough time deciding. On release of GW1 I went with Elementalist, and I am leaning that way again for GW2 release, but I'm also interested in Guardian, Ranger, and Warrior. First character will probably end up being a Norn Elementalist.

I love playing ranged classes and the ranger seems to be really strong at max level so Ill be playing that.

Guardian for sure. 100% Positive. I've already got my build planned out as well as my Characters looks. (Provided the dont add any extra goodies to the character creation system before launch [Although that seemed to be the biggest suggestion on the forums this time; expanded character creation.].)

Heres the class rankings for me:
Guardian > Ranger > Elementalist > Necromancer/Mesmer > Warrior/Thief > Engineer

Was going to start out as a human elementalist because that was my main in GW1, but the human guardian with a greatsword and staff was just too awesome.

Warrior but unsure of race asura ruined it for me I was going to be charr but after playing an asura it made charr feel slow as a turtle =/

I don't agree, there are some great builds utilizing pistols and/or the short bow. If you limit yourself to melee just because it's fits your archetypical thinking of what a "thief" is - then you're probably missing out on some fun playstyles. At the end of the day, you gotta find one you enjoy most though - so if that's double d/d or whatever, go for it.

My first and main, will most likely be a Necromancer. I know that it's the profession that needs the most love now but, I fell in love with it and I will have it.

Although I will have plenty of alts to keep me occupied if they're still too weak at later levels. I do wonder why Arenanet believes Necromancers need the most love. Since I plan on playing on as my main, I decided to skip them in the third BWE.

Engineer probably, but i'm torn between that and a hunter. Heck, i'm not even sure if it's possible to have a main, i wanna play ALL the professions!

I'll probably do at least a play through most of the way to level 80, if not all the way to the end, on the warrior. Or at least until get over the learning curve this is for me. Being both new to GW2 (only did BW3) and new to MMO's in general.

yep right.. i also got that impression.. it seems the ranger is really strong, although i dislike pets somehow pets are more a pain in the ass then a real help and especially in gw2 they seem to die instantly lol (exept the bears)... but nevertheless.. i made 2 builds, one for the ranger and the other for the thief.. i though i can share them with you:

they definitely aren'T perfect regaring the utility skills i chose.. i just wanted to make them more or less easy for a first try.. of course this aren'T my final utility skills, but even with them i think the builds are acceptable ?

in a one on one comparsion the ranger seems to win o_O

/e: by the way.. can a mod pleeeease make the poll ?! we need a poll.. i made this whole thread only so we have a poll for the classes/professions too please

I highly dislike Charrs because GW Prophecies had me too much influenced... Searing. They emprisonned Gwen
If i had the option to become a separatist, i would totaly go for it
But other than that, once i've completed the game with 2-3 character, i might buy 3 more character slots and make all professions

Wasn't going to main an ele, despite playing one in gw1 as I thought everyone would be maining them. Couldn't resist though.
Main will be Ele, then Engi, then all the others bar Necro (just not my thing, sorry )

did you play the ranger much in spvp or/and WvW ?? how strong and effective is the ranger in WvW with the longbow ? and how are his pets.. worthless or are they worth something ?

because thats the one thing i'm not sure about the ranger.. i like him in pve, but i'm not sure if he is strong and effective enough in WvW and spvp.. i don't want to play him to lvl 80 and then see that he is worthless in lets say WvW (sPvP doesn't matter that much because we get everything there, which is really cool)

I was set on a ranger, but after playing a warrior, I can't see any reason playing a ranger over a warrior. Warrior longbow/rifle is better dps and melee dps is insanely better, plus I don't have to lug around a dead pet all the time.

I will make 5 characters right off the bat (given that we have 5 slots) that way if ANet decides to give gifts for anniversaries I can collect. I may purchase 3 more slots to have one of each. Probably won't play all to max but who knows. Depends on how board I get while grinding and how much XP boosts cost.

My main will be an Elementalist.  He will be PvE focused collecting everything, and I do mean everything (titles, dungeon armors, maxed crafting, all legendary equipment, etc...). I'm hoping, but I haven't really looked, that crafting and armor drops are not soulbound so I can use them on the rest of my account. This way I won't feel like I'm starting for scratch everytime.

Torn between Mesmer and Necro. Was originially thinking of making a Mesmer 4th or 5th... but once I tried it in BWE3 I'm considering it to be my main.... So yes,
1.Mesmer (Sylvari or Human) or Necro (Sylvari)
2.Then Warrior (Human) and Guardian (Asura)
3.Then Engineer (Charr)

My main character will be a Human Elementalist as in GW1 because they're simply amazing

Then my secondary main will be an Asuran/Sylvari Guardian.. and thats all that im certain of at this time
