because thats the one thing i'm not sure about the ranger.. i like him in pve, but i'm not sure if he is strong and effective enough in WvW and spvp.. i don't want to play him to lvl 80 and then see that he is worthless in lets say WvW (sPvP doesn't matter that much because we get everything there, which is really cool)
Pets were slightly ehhh... They werent really a huge part of things. They still die way too fast in PVP. So i just kept them on "out of combat" and only used pets with a passive biff i could spam over and over. If you manage them well, you can keep them up. But they are still kind of like a novelty.
As for their weapons, they are fine. I used the logbow primarily on my ranger and it felt fine. The short bow was okay as well. But since i was mainly in WvW the AoE cripple of the longbow helped out much more than the shortbow. So it just came down to my play style.

1. Guardian,THERE, I SAID IT =D
2. Warrior + Ranger + Engineer + Necromancer, pick which one I like best as 1st alt.
3. Elementalist
4. Mesmer + Thief, meh
The list might change if one profession turns out to be very viable / wanted.

the problem is that the ranger has really good crowd skills.. like barrage.. barrage rocks.. the warrior doesn'T have such things right ? (didn't try the warrior that much so i don't have a real experience with him.. only a bit..
but the warrior should be mostly singletarget and no multitarget things right ? and i would like to have both.. i would like to be good with single and multitarget and the ranger is good at both xD

damn that doesn'T sound good.. i unfortunately thought the same. i couldn't imagine that the pets were thaat good.. the best would be if the thief could use the longbow and would have at least the rapid fire and barrage skills on it.. this would be awesome.. singletarget with d/d and ranged with the longbow the the thief would be by far my favorite xD but well we all know that this would lead to an quite hughe imbalance

that actually sounds good.. from my personal experience i also saw the longbow as the most important thing on the ranger xD it just ssemed to me that the ranger had somehow an disadvantage because of this poor pets. a ranger without pets but with something else to compensate the disadvantage in comparsion to e.g. the thief would be also awesome xD
do you thing that the ranger will be buffed for release ? doesn't seem very likely as anet thinks the ranger is balanced and fine right ? o_O

So i will play Ranger. I was playing him in last beta weekend and i enjoyed him so much. ( i can play him as warrior with pet! xD)

necromancer (human)
elementalist (norn)
ranger (not sure, probably human)
maybe thief (sylvari or asura? I don't know!)
Can't decide on the last one (if we'll get 5 slots) - torn between guardian and mesmer... What should I do? Oh, and engineer is tempting too!
*choosing professions cause confusion*

Then perhaps a warrior or a necromancer.

Next, probably elementalist - because after the warrior it's my favourite archetype, and I always enjoyed playing mages. Deep, not overwhelming and with many options - exactly the same thing.
Now it gets tougher - while I got into the latest beta, my internet has been sadly dysfunctional from saturday till monday, effectively walling me off from trying any other profession besides my WvW warrior playthrough from friday night. I'd definitely want to roll guardian and mesmer, respectively, and main either of them in the future should I get bored with warrior or elementalist.
All the other professions hold no specific appeal or sentimental value to me, however certain builds over certain weapon sets, mechanics-wise might be close to satisfying - namely greatsword ranger, axe/warhorn necromancer or dagger/dagger thief. I imagine playing the remaining four professions in isolated sPvP matches, but I very much doubt I'll main any of them for my WvW venture.
Tough choices are tough. Stupid ISP didn't make it any better ... so much for coincidence. Flawless service for 5 years and now this, just exactly when GW2 beta started. What a joke.

I don't think it'll be a Thief though, since I played a Human Thief in one of the betas and I like the idea of having a Human Thief (I'm going to main an Asura)
I think it'll still be a Necromancer I play since I really like crippling enemies with loads of conditions and then feasting on them. I also love the bleeding options. (I know other races can cause bleed but the Necromancer does it really nicely)

The Theif, Guardian, and Necromancer. I am actually really surprised I liked the Guardian because I almost always pick a ranged caster in any mmo. I think League of Legends is what did it to me. I really like playing a support mage in that game and now I have a saviour complex, lol.
I think I want Sylvari though to be my first Race.
Well I think I am going to do ...
Theif ( Sylvari... or human if I pick a different class to be my main )
Necromancer (Asura... or Sylvari)
Guardian (Norn...Sylvari)
Just don't know what order yet.
Also my favorite Weapon set on Thief is S/P and then P/P. Use Skill two on Sword. Hit a few good times. Press again to shadow back and bring out the pistols to finish them off.
Then I will pick Elementalist (Human) after all of that.

Elementalist first - because that one will be my Sylvari and I want to make sure I get her name
After my sprout is made, then I'll make my Thief (Norn) and Mesmer (human). Since I have their names reserved on my GW1 account, I won't be in a rush.
After they are made, I'll relax, pick one, and play for a while. Over time I'll probably be dividing time between the three fairly evenly.

2. Warrior
3. Warrior
I will definitely be a WARRIOR

I'm interested in either fillin' the control role or the support role, but prefer the former.
Depending on if I was gonna PvE or PvP, I'd make a Theif or a Ranger respectively.
Haven't thought further ahead than that but I'm sure those professions will last me forever anyways.
