Yeah you really want to turn that double tap dodging feature off. It's better to use a dedicated hotkey for it, by default it's v but thats really weird to press so I use c and c works perfectly.

Or was it the mushroom later in the puzzle that almost no one made it past? You gotta stand at the edge, hold right click and then jump and press left click and if you time that right you make it up. There seems to be no other way to make that jump. Sadly there is nothing past that point anyways so whatever, just 4 spiders at a dead end.
Oh and the screen shaking, I never noticed it because I saw it in the gameplay options and I was like, yeah no, I don't like or want that kinda stuff so I turned it off immediatly once I finished character creation and got to the options menus.
Yeah, the one near the end of the first part, close to the chest. I just dislike there not being a clear way to make that jump. It makes it feel like I just gotta try a bunch of times and fail until I manage to magically find the sweet spot.
I didn't know screen shaking could be turned off. That's useful to know. If only to use just for this one jumping puzzle.

There is a hidden area somewhere which requires some jumping skills to get too. It's not a real jumping puzzle (with a chest at the end and such) but I still.
As for this thread: a big yes. The jumping puzzle in Metrica Province is a real pain in the ass, but I don't dislike them either. While I was doing it, I was so impressed on how a simple feature as jumping, something we saw in thousand of MMO, could become something so entertaining and challenging. Good job Arenanet for another type of gameplay we rarely see these days in online gaming.
An interesting addition would be to add a NPC/item at the begining of each jumping puzzle who would add a timer for speed runner.

Personally, I thought I'd have a harder time. I had a heck of a time in SWTOR on the Datacrons at first, but after learning how to properly deal with them (ie. Tap forward slightly while jumping, etc), I found them a lot easier. And if all else fails I'm sure there will be videos galore of people doing the puzzles for people that can't quite figure them out.
I can understand some peoples dislike for them. While I like the addition, sometimes its wiser to keep platforming with platforming. Adding such elements to a game where people may not have former abilities in the area is not always a good one. Though I feel GW2 executed it quite a lot better then SWTOR ever thought about.

Yes I had the torches from the start, they were a bit buggy and didn't create the ambient lighting glow untill I adjusted the graphics settings. I think other people were having the same problem because one person was using a fire spell to get through it.

I am happy with jumping puzzles overall but they can be stressful sometimes.

They're completely optional, fun little diversions that offer a great little challenge to break up the pace.
Fine as they are I say. I'm sure that down the road, there will be far more complicated jumping puzzles, for those that demand a tougher challenge.

I spent half the weekend doing the spiral one in the Sylvaran area and the Asuran lava death one. My eyesight went all fuzzy, my mouse arm started twitching and my thumb hurt from slamming the jump button. My brain is still recouperating! Arrrghhh!!!
Finished the buggers though.... O_o

It's exacerbated by the fact that the engine is optimized for an MMO, which means rougher geometry rules and rougher character animation and constraints, which contributes to a less than ideal jumping mechanic (compared to something like Assassins Creed, etc.)

I did all the initial jumping puzzles, including darkwhatever I don't remember the name in sylvari area and WvW dungeon. I don't even care for the prize at the end, for me it's just a bonus.
Why do people climb mountains? Because they're there!

As for rewards at the end: they're nice and all, but I like the feeling for "YA! I did it!" more than anything else...and sometimes a cool view is a nice bonus.
Edit:
(SPOILER ALERT) Did you see this person's youtube collection of jumping puzzle videos? http://www.youtube.c...ARxNomaD/videos
Some of those look on par difficulty-wise with instanced dungeons. Granted, different difficulty angle, obviously. There are even save points in some of them since they are so hazardous. "Spekks' Laboratory", for example, looks insane!
