Hi, I know in the beta weekend event I had to change servers because I hoped on the beta a couple hours before my other friend did. By the time he joined, my server was full and he couldn't join my world, luckily I was aloud to have a free world change.

My concern is, I have about 4 - 6 friends from school all looking to play this game, chances are I will be playing it first, and if I join a world and it turns out to be full, do we still get a small grace period in which we can change servers for free? Or will I have to pay gems just to play with my friends.

I know that a lot of servers in the beta were full, do you think they will increase server cap/add more servers for launch?

I would assume Anet to respond to the "server full issue" in some way. After all, a lot of people fear they will not get to play WvW with their friends because they choose a server that later happens to be full once their friends want to join them.

They actually covered this:

t’s no secret that worlds with low populations just aren’t as much fun to play on (or against), so we’re focused on getting higher populations on each of our worlds to improve the experience for all beta players.

As I mentioned, we’ve been able to greatly increase the maximum player capacity for each server. We’ve been able to do this partially because we’ve opened up a number of new playable areas with the addition of the sylvari and asura as playable characters. We expect that we will increase our capacity again when we launch and the rest of the game areas will be available. There have also been several general technical improvements made by our incredibly talented programming team that have positively impacted the entire game and let us raise our world population limit even higher.

At launch there'll also be the guesting feature, which lets you freely join the server your friends are on. This allows you to play with anyone on a different server without having to pay. The only thing you won't be able to do with guesting is play WvWvW.

That is pre beta, and I had this problem during the beta.

My recommendation, unless ANet does something to change the current system... is just to wait it out.

I highly doubt (and I can be TOTALLY wrong) that ANet will implement a completely FLAT CAP on a server. Meaning, once a server reaches X accounts... it'll stop ANY and ALL further attempts at creating new accounts on that server.

Instead, I think they'll do what they have been doing. If a server is "FULL", they disable creation of new accounts there. If a server is NOT full, it'll re-enable the creation of accounts on server.

During BWE2 we faced that as with BWE3. If players couldn't get in initially to a server, they ended up waiting and got in a few hours later.

I think.
