So how are all you Elementalists going to play? Personally I see my self spending my points to unlock Glyph of Lesser Elementals, Summon Mistfire Wolves, Earth Armor, and Arcane Shield for solo playing, and the Conjures and Summon Power Suit (asura elite) for parties, along with Glyph of Renewal incase someone dies on us.

In groups I look forward to getting my staff on and being a field-spamming freak. It would be exciting to find enough people throwing damage around that would allow me to focus on support.

During those quiet, solo moments in PvE I imagine spending most of my time holding two daggers and trying to annihilate the enemy with maximum efficiency.

Duo with my wife. :)

I'm leaning to staff right now, in all situations (except for special cases) -- solo, duo, group, dynamic event, whatever. Maybe scepter to have more blast finishers for her fields, but I'm guessing it won't really work out that way. Certainly scepter/focus for situations where projectile defense is essential. Maybe scepter/dagger for some variety.

In BWE I ran with Glyph of Elemental Power as my first utility skill, but the blast finisher of Arcane Wave is also quite tempting. To a lesser extent also Arcane Blast. I look forward to Glyph of Lesser Elementals. I think I get some Summon Dire Wolf elite that will slow my rush to get Glyph of Elementals, but eventually I want that.

Pipples:

No "Written in Stone" with that bad boy?

---

jasott:

I'll probably level up maxing Fire first for the spike in +power and Lightning second just to finish off mobs faster

For endgame it's going to be all about finding an overpowered combo with another profession

I noticed that Ele is the only profession that can lay down a Lightning Combo Field
(Brutal Bolts may have been completely overlooked by the community)

Staff with fire only. Pure flame legion char all the way! Instant cast makes it feel more natural to be a caster.

The class isn't supposedly made for a single-element use, because of recharge time. I'm thinking daggers while alternating attunements as needed.

This for pvp hotjoin, similar to solo/questing, aggressive daggers (not entirely sold on fire alacrity, it could be lava tomb in hotjoin):

I'm still thinking about team pvp, dungeon groups etc. I'd like to be more supportive in groups and that leads me to think staff, but i'm really really undecided so i wont post my spec for that now. For WvW it will be for sure staff aoe madness with a bit of support:

For sPvP or tPvP, I run glass cannon Staff.
If I have to roam in pub games, probably soldier S/D.
In PvE, I probably do Staff to train for pvp but if the team need a bruiser then proabably S/D
WvW, I think I will play scouting S/D because I am going for that Meteorlogicus

One thing i noticed is MOST of the people intends support as defensive support which is fine, but i was thinking more along the lines of offensive support which I possibly intend in two ways: 1) Granting offensive boons to my allies (might, fury...) 2) Debuffing my enemy with vulnerability (and chill goes well with this idea but that's more of a defensive idea again). Still reasoning about that: any suggestion? Do you think it's completely bad idea or we are better at defensive support?

Support is only one aspect of ele. Actually ele is excel at damage dealing . You don't have to label the tag "support" on yourself :P. As long as you don't die and doing something helpful for the team, you are supporting them. For me, dealing dmg and killing enemies while kiting them around my team is my way of supporting :D

Water+Air+Earth staff. Fire only if necessary(really, why doesn't someone make a support-ish fire proffesion instead of BURN in hell! DPS ?). Glyph(or Signet) of Restoration. Signets of Water and either Earth or Air with Glyph of lesser Elementals. Elite is Glyph of Elementals(tentative-I think we haven't seen even half of elites in betas. Seeing how I dislike changing forms and don't want melee...maybe some of unseen elites will grab my attention.)

I dislike staff because it plays too slow. Seeing cast time bars annoys me.

Probably will be scepter+focus or dagger+focus with an air spec for higher crits. For PvE I may spec a bit into Fire for more power.

I need an excuse to use wayward wand + chimeric prism from HoM.

Have you tried offhand dagger? If you like being fast then that might be the way to go.

Like a wrecking ball. Trolling my foes with my super high armour, tripping them over, knocking them back, and laughing at their piddly attacks.

Im having tanky healing ,glass canon and middle ground for most weapons sets ready for pvp..For pve i ll go power and try staff/dd at the beggining later im going to switch it to a cc/condition build..i dont know but i ve wasted more time thinking about builds rather than playing the game..it might be better to stop thinking and let thinks grow naturally as you level in pve:)

I have tried offhand dagger as well. Offhand dagger is mostly PBAOE. Ride the lightning isn't that impressive in PvE though unless you're trying to unlock areas for exp. Frost Aura didn't impress me either. Cleansing Wave plays like a bad version of Healing Rain because it is PBAOE, even if it is heal instead of regen.

I liked the synergy of Flamewall (combo field), daze from comet (also blast combo finisher), knockdown from Gale (which reminds me of GW1 GvG), condition removal from magnetic wave (also blast finisher), Swirling Winds is just so guardian-like. It just seems to be a more team-oriented offhand weapon

Dagger + Dagger is just not my kind of playstyle. :P

I hope to be able to mostly skip fire. I don't know why, but I always found fire to be the most boring of all the elements. For Weapons, I am going to take a staff as well as d/d with me, and switch as needed.

I sadly have to spec into fire for the +power benifit, but honestly I only see myself going condition damage and switching between earth and air. If grouping, I'll be carrying around my staff for water support, etc.
Fire just seems rather dull and "pew pew".

That really depends on what I'm doing. For stomping in sPvP, S/D with Arcane Blast/Wave. For tournaments, whatever we need for our strategy to work. For PvE, depends on what I'm going to be doing again. S/D or S/F for solo PvE exploring and stuff, and staff for teams. I can always swap weapons out of combat, if the situation calls for it. There's no point in locking yourself down to a single weaponset or skillbuild.
