Fair enough about Madoka Magica. Persoanlly I just watch whatever kind of Anime as long as something makes me enjoy it. Usually it's likeable characters that makes me watch a series, despite what it's about, though personally I really love Fairy Tail because for me, it has everything, and usually I have always liked Shounen.

I'm trying to think of others I love but I can't name many that had such a big effect on me. I guess Bleach but that sort of fizzled out at the end, and I try to look for Anime that aren't always extremely mainstream, though really I don't care if something is mainstream or not, as long as I like it.

Currently I'm watching Mirai Nikki, although that's been going on for a few months now because I just can't find the time to watch Anime anymore with Guild Wars 2, work, and my responsibilities in the Guild

Yeah I agree one should watch what they like, regardless of the opinion of the masses.
I suppose thats why I loved Hidan no Aria, while the majority of the crowd hated it.

Same goes for 11 eyes.
A lot of people hate it, but I loved it and thought the plot twist around EP 8 was brilliant.
No real Tsundere in that one tho.

Then again, sometimes I like things without a Tsundere.
It happens rarely, but sometimes a show does that to me ( 11 eyes, Elfen Lied, Death Note ( I dropped it half way the second season because it became crappy there imo ).

Only Tsunderesque show I found to be a bit lacking was Kaze no Stigma.
That one had great potential, but it felt unpolished to me character-wise.

Love your avatar. I'm a big Claymore fan. I do agree that the manga is far better than the anime. Problem with the anime is they went for an original anime ending because the manga was not (and still is not) finished yet. The ending was kind of lackluster imho.

My current top 3 anime series would be, in order from best:

- Code Geass (its epic, plain and simple)
- Fairy Tail (kickass music, fights and just so much fun)
- Full Metal Alchemist (both versions but I didnt like Brotherhood as much)

There are other decent ones, such as Death Note and Elfen Lied (and many more), but these three are just awesome IMO.

And out of those I'd say Ghost in the Shell was the greatest.

I wanted to include series like Bleach and Naruto, but fact is that I stopped really enjoying those a long time ago. Naruto I stopped enjoying after the Pain arc and Bleach I stopped enjoying already during the Hueco Mundo arc. They were great series, really among the best... until those points.

Best manga for me is One Piece and Berserk. These mangas are still going strong and continues to get better as time goes on. They're aging like wine, unlike other mangas that started out strong but went downhill. *cough*Naruto*cough*Bleach*cough*

I have seen Code Geass, the first and the second season a bit over two months ago. Now, I shall proclaim it the Gospel of Anime. The thing is just too good to be true. They know how to make suspense, how to heighten it from episode to episode. And what is more, I like the twist they made with main characters. He is in a certain way polar opposite of protagonist of Death Note, another Anime I liked.

[The Trouble With Me]

I don't watch a lot but my favourite is definitely The Tatami Galaxy. I also watched Azumanga Daiyo (which at first glance I was sure I wouldn't like) and recenly Aku no Hana, which I found on Baudelaire's wiki page. Apparently Cowboy Bebop is really good so I'll probably watch that at some point.

Oh! And the film Mind Game. Sooo good.

I only recently got into anime, but from what I've watched so far, Cowboy Bebop and Death Note are my favorites. I also adore the Studio Ghibli film Only Yesterday (with Porco Rosso as a close second).

Code Geass, Death Note, Claymore, Noein, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, X, Juuni Kokki, Terra e..., Witch Hunter Robin,  Darker than Black (season 1, didn't like the sequel too much) are all favorites of mine. I have more but those are the ones that pop up off the top of my head. I'd recommend all of these, but I must push Noein in particular, because unlike some of these others Noein seems to fly under the radar and not get too much attention. It's a shame because it's a great series.

Of current anime out for the Spring season I'm currently really liking Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan). Definitely the best anime out at the moment, though I kind of worry how they're going to pull the series off with the manga not being done (and it's really nowhere near ending...way too many questions that need answering). So that means they just end it randomly with no real ending or they come up with their own ending. I'd really like for them to just stop when they catch up to the manga and let the manga finish and then start up again with a new season to finish it, but I doubt that'll happen.

Anyway, I'm rambling. ^^;;; If you're looking for a new anime to watch consider picking up Attack on Titan. You can watch legally on both Crunchyroll.com and Hulu. Or *coughs* I suppose go for not so legal sources, which I won't name here.

If you are a Mecha fan, the movie series Gundam Unicorn that's going on right now is excellent.

Another which I think is excellent overall (and makes the top of my list) is Revolutionary Girl Utena. It's oldish but not too old (90's), can be a bit slow since it's more narrative driven than most animes (the type that I like so a bit biased here)

If you're in the mood for some sad/psychological type deal, nothing beats Bokurano.

If you want something a bit faster then Cowboy Bebop, which imo is the most fun to watch anime there is

As for manga, the one I enjoyed the most is Veritas, martial arts type deal with amazing pen work, excellent from start until almost finish, author rushed the end hard because reasons.
