Yea, Inu X Boku SS is pretty different tbh. I was hoping for a 2nd season (doubt it will happen) because there was a lot of the Shounen type stuff they didn't even touch on much in the series, but then again that wasn't really the main focus.

Fair enough about Madoka Magica. Persoanlly I just watch whatever kind of Anime as long as something makes me enjoy it. Usually it's likeable characters that makes me watch a series, despite what it's about, though personally I really love Fairy Tail because for me, it has everything, and usually I have always liked Shounen.

I'm trying to think of others I love but I can't name many that had such a big effect on me. I guess Bleach but that sort of fizzled out at the end, and I try to look for Anime that aren't always extremely mainstream, though really I don't care if something is mainstream or not, as long as I like it.

Currently I'm watching Mirai Nikki, although that's been going on for a few months now because I just can't find the time to watch Anime anymore with Guild Wars 2, work, and my responsibilities in the Guild :P

Yeah I agree one should watch what they like, regardless of the opinion of the masses.
I suppose thats why I loved Hidan no Aria, while the majority of the crowd hated it.

Same goes for 11 eyes.
A lot of people hate it, but I loved it and thought the plot twist around EP 8 was brilliant.
No real Tsundere in that one tho.

Then again, sometimes I like things without a Tsundere.
It happens rarely, but sometimes a show does that to me ( 11 eyes, Elfen Lied, Death Note ( I dropped it half way the second season because it became crappy there imo ).

Only Tsunderesque show I found to be a bit lacking was Kaze no Stigma.
That one had great potential, but it felt unpolished to me character-wise.

Some of the ones I love.
Anime:
GTO (old but still awesome!)
Clannad and Clannad After Story
Soul Eater
Claymore (love seeing it in action, but the manga story is so much better)
Nana

Manga:
Fruits Basket (yeah, I know this is pretty common but the story is so cute)
Claymore

Love your avatar. I'm a big Claymore fan. :) I do agree that the manga is far better than the anime. Problem with the anime is they went for an original anime ending because the manga was not (and still is not) finished yet. The ending was kind of lackluster imho.

My current top 3 anime series would be, in order from best:

- Code Geass (its epic, plain and simple)
- Fairy Tail (kickass music, fights and just so much fun)
- Full Metal Alchemist (both versions but I didnt like Brotherhood as much)

There are other decent ones, such as Death Note and Elfen Lied (and many more), but these three are just awesome IMO.

Anime/Manga:
  • Death Note
  • Code Geass
  • One Piece
  • Fairy Tail
  • Samurai Champloo
  • Naruto
  • Monster
  • Full Metal Alchemist & Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
  • Full Metal Panic
  • Baccano!
  • Hunter x Hunter
  • Black Lagoon
  • Berserk
  • Physco Pass (new anime)
  • Deadman Wonderland
That’s all I can think of anime/manga-ish from the top of my head.

Other ACTION mangas that need more popularity since they are too badass:
  • The Breaker, The Breaker: New Waves
  • Noblesse
  • The God of High School
  • Beelzebub
  • Tower of God
  • Magi (I haven’t begun to watch the anime yet, but the manga is pretty solid)
  • Dark Air
  • Veritas (finished - ending was meh though)
  • Witch Hunter
  • Mx0 (finished)
  • Sen-Ken Rock
  • Holyland (finished...I think, haven't seen any new updates, and it's been a while since I last read it)
  • City of Darkness
If all those mangas turned into Anime...that would be pretty awesome!

Gona have to go old school on this

Trigun,
Any of the older Gundam seies including the movies (Gundam Seed & its follow ups were also good)
Helsing
Lupin the 3rd
Ninja Scroll
Ghost in the Shell (had multiple series & movies)
Blue Gender
Blood +
Blade of the Immortal Cry of the Worm.

Of course all of these are best in their original unedited, uncensored Japanese with subtitles.

If I should name the mangas/anime I really enjoy(ed) it'd probably be:
- Full Metal Alchemist (anime [both original anime and Brotherhood]/manga)
- Hellsing (anime [Ultimate]/manga)
- Monster (manga [anime is fine, but a bit too slow paced in my opinion])
- One Piece (anime/manga)
- Death Note (anime/manga)
- Neon Genesis Evangelion (anime/haven't read manga)
- Samurai Champloo (anime)
- House of Five Leaves (anime)
- Elfen Lied (anime/manga)
- Ergo Proxy (anime)
- Mirai Nikki (anime)
- Fairy Tail (anime/manga)
- Clannad (anime [Afterstory included])
- Air (anime)
- School Days (anime [found it mildly entertaining until the last episode that really exploded])
- Chobits (manga)
- He is my Master (anime)
- Azumanga Daioh (anime)
- History's Greatest Disciple Kenichi (manga)
- FLCL (anime)
- Noein (anime [enjoyed this so much I got the DVD boxset])
- Wolf and Spice (anime)
- Lucky Star (anime)
- Last Exile (anime)
- Mahou Sensei Negima (manga)

Of these I think my favorite 5 (in no particular order) would be:
- Noein.
- Samurai Champloo.
- Death Note.
- Full Metal Alchemist.
- FLCL.

I didn't include the movies, because I kind of find liking an anime movie to be much different from liking an anime, but of the movies I really like:
- Spirited Away.
- Akira.
- Ghost in the Shell.
- Paprika.
- Tokyo Godfathers.
- Metropolis.
- Grave of the Fireflies.
- Perfect Blue.
- Howl's Moving Castle.
- Princess Mononoke.

And out of those I'd say Ghost in the Shell was the greatest.

I wanted to include series like Bleach and Naruto, but fact is that I stopped really enjoying those a long time ago. Naruto I stopped enjoying after the Pain arc and Bleach I stopped enjoying already during the Hueco Mundo arc. They were great series, really among the best... until those points.

No one said Dragonball Z! Well I liked Dragonball GT better...really enjoyed the anime series when I was a kid.

Rurouni Kenshin was not bad I liked it except they never finished...or so I was informed.

I'm enjoying Bleach and Naruto at the moment but I'm getting sick of Bleach's dragged out fights.

Best anime ever (probably due to being a childhood favourite) is YuGiOh...imo of course :D
you better take a little break from bleach because it got discontinued for the time being. And GT was the greatest pile of s**t i have ever seen.

I also watched Chevalier D'eon recently, and I think the ending was way too crude...

HELL YES! Berserk is still one of my fav. I just wonder if the story will finish anytime this century. They started drawing it in something like 88-89...

I have seen Code Geass, the first and the second season a bit over two months ago. Now, I shall proclaim it the Gospel of Anime. The thing is just too good to be true. They know how to make suspense, how to heighten it from episode to episode. And what is more, I like the twist they made with main characters. He is in a certain way polar opposite of protagonist of Death Note, another Anime I liked.

I don't watch a lot but my favourite is definitely The Tatami Galaxy. I also watched Azumanga Daiyo (which at first glance I was sure I wouldn't like) and recenly Aku no Hana, which I found on Baudelaire's wiki page. Apparently Cowboy Bebop is really good so I'll probably watch that at some point.

Oh! And the film Mind Game. Sooo good.

Code Geass, Death Note, Claymore, Noein, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, X, Juuni Kokki, Terra e..., Witch Hunter Robin,  Darker than Black (season 1, didn't like the sequel too much) are all favorites of mine. I have more but those are the ones that pop up off the top of my head. I'd recommend all of these, but I must push Noein in particular, because unlike some of these others Noein seems to fly under the radar and not get too much attention. It's a shame because it's a great series.

Of current anime out for the Spring season I'm currently really liking Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan). Definitely the best anime out at the moment, though I kind of worry how they're going to pull the series off with the manga not being done (and it's really nowhere near ending...way too many questions that need answering). So that means they just end it randomly with no real ending or they come up with their own ending. I'd really like for them to just stop when they catch up to the manga and let the manga finish and then start up again with a new season to finish it, but I doubt that'll happen.

Anyway, I'm rambling. ^^;;; If you're looking for a new anime to watch consider picking up Attack on Titan. You can watch legally on both Crunchyroll.com and Hulu. Or *coughs* I suppose go for not so legal sources, which I won't name here.

Oh and here's the OP and ED for SnK:

Seeing a lot of popular picks up here though some surprises: did not expect to see other Seirei no Moribito fans in the thread.

Not gonna beat a dead horse and list big names, since I don't even really rate them as top contenders usually, just shows that I keep up with.  Instead I'll toss out some of my lesser known favorites:

ANIME
Seikai no Monshou, Seikai no Senki English: Crest of the Stars and its sequel, Banner of the Stars.
Spoiler
Hands down my favorite Space Opera in any medium.  Yes that's a blue-haired space elf.   Yes it's internally consistent.

Moyashimon
Spoiler
Don't let that picture fool you, it's actually about MICROBES.  And College

MANGA/MANHWA/MANHUA
Shin Angyo Onshi
Spoiler
Beautifully Illustrated Korean Manhwa, and one of the most epic fantasy storylines ever.

Hoshi no Samidare or the Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer
Spoiler
Epic modern shounen fantasy.  Self parodies its own genre yet still manages to be compelling. What I wouldn't give to have an anime of this.  Well worth a read.

If you are a Mecha fan, the movie series Gundam Unicorn that's going on right now is excellent.

Another which I think is excellent overall (and makes the top of my list) is Revolutionary Girl Utena. It's oldish but not too old (90's), can be a bit slow since it's more narrative driven than most animes (the type that I like so a bit biased here)

If you're in the mood for some sad/psychological type deal, nothing beats Bokurano.

If you want something a bit faster then Cowboy Bebop, which imo is the most fun to watch anime there is

As for manga, the one I enjoyed the most is Veritas, martial arts type deal with amazing pen work, excellent from start until almost finish, author rushed the end hard because reasons.
