Vote for it on Steam Greenlight!

This game looks quite interesting. It is currently in development, and though their Kickstarter failed, it will still be released (and is currently available for pre-order).

▪   Class Based
▪   MMO Style Abilities
▪   Even Playing Field for All Players
▪   Skill is the Only Determining Factor in Victory or Defeat
▪   Zero Grind
▪   Meaningful Progression and Customization Without Violating Any of the Above

Good concept, but it's on Kickstarter, so they've yet to prove anything. Hope they get good funding.

There are already plenty of other similiar games like Rakion, Savage 2, etc. There is no way this could compete with GW2.

Again with these games with no persistent world but just maps like FPS games...
Lack of anything outside playing "maps" makes the lasting appeal of these kind of games very short.

It is supposed to be just like FPS games. You don't play for rewards, you play for fun and to compete.

It looks very much like Fury.

Fury wasn't a bad game, although it did suffer from the fact that (a) you had to buy it, and (2) it had no lasting appeal.

Sadly, Forge looks like a game that, whilst cool, has no lasting appeal.

I will check it out

I think it PvP might be better then GW2

I look at TB video.

GW2 uses a tab target system but much of it is projectile's it also has aoe skill shot's

Where this game uses more instant skill shots. In that you do have aim to hit you skill but many will hit. It also has projectiles and some possible aoe skill shots.

In away it is a different take on GW2 system which is funny cause they were both being made at the same time.

But that is where there similarity end.

In GW2 the looked away from the classic MMO formate. Giving everyone a heal. Getting rid of the trinity. Making it more reliant on how that player want's to play. They don't want to make it like you need this win(healers mostly).

In Forge is funny again cause much of there idea's came from GW1 and they said that in the TB interview. The are not giving everyone a heal. The have the classic formate with the healers/Support and tanks and DPS. Oh so it is like every other MMO you might say WRONG. The scarped the tab target system so as a healer you must aim to heal and a tank is basicly a PvE thing I not sure how they did it they likely help protect allie's taking damage.

Just wanted to mention one more thing Forge takes a more realistic way of doing it your blinded your screen goes black. I liked that.

It looks good I hope it works.

The game is coming out regardless I guess you couldn't have known that at the time of your posting.

BTW kickstarting this game for $15 or more is basically buying the game so why the heck not

I just do not get why they would call this MMO style combat, while it's pretty much a third-person action/shooter game? So what, because it has skills and a healer it's suddenly MMO style combat? o_o Not a single MMO ever has been this active in its gameplay.

That's not entirely true. TERA was almost this active.

Also, I think you're being a bit of a pedant tbh. Clearly they're talking in general terms, rather than specifically trying to liken it to traditional MMO combat. Just read what they have to say with a little more invested interest; they clearly state that it's a cross between MMO and FPS/TPS style combat. And you can see precisely what they're talking about as well.

I get that, I just think that the term 'MMO style combat' actually detriments it. MMO style combat has never been all that,... Involving and requiring of direct input

I might be looking at this from my own bias of 'MMO combat sucks', though. :P

Well, yeah... I'd tend to agree with you. I don't think the game has enough to it to warrant my interest. The thing about MMOs is that they tend to have lots of content outside of the lacklustre combat systems to tide you over, and the combat you do have to partake in is largely a "time filler".

Forge seems to rely on the idea that it may well have "revolutionised" MMO combat; I don't see it. I also don't think that MMO PvP has enough to it on its own merit to warrant a standalone game. Fury proved that.

I think you just have to look at how much money they haven't generated since the Kickstarter post has been featured on sites like IGN and Massively to realise that it's a very niche game at best. I think they've generated $5,000 in around a day and a half to two days. At that rate, they're not going to hit their goal (which I think is a little lofty considering the game was already on the road to release, and had no media coverage prior to this).

I agree with you
I also think they haven't done enough advertisement.
MMO style combat is awful I don't know why they say it that way
What they mean is class based system. With ability's that are like spells.
MMO combat where there statement may be true puts a bad taste of words.

Wow Forge looks really good, I honestly can't understand why you can't play both guild wars 2 and Forge. Competition is always good between companies. It's only two things that would stop a person from enjoying both games, time or fanboism (and maybe fiance, but that is three if that is the case).

I'll try it out. But grinding for more skills doesn't sound really good tbh.

Make the "grind" to unlock different gear, and not new skills..

Well, the .8 Forge patch recently hit, and the game is looking fantastic still!

Currently there is a 2 week free trial out there, I suggest you at least give it a try. The biggest problem with this game at the moment is it's small community, which should improve with the future Steam integration, and of course you fine people joining in ;)

Seriously. Every skill on those skillbars matters and has very definite uses. The teamplay aspect is fantastic and even healing feels fantastically frantic due to it working exactly like offensive abilities. Every class is distinct and offers it's own unique playstyle.
