Btw - is the beta available only for the people that bought it or is it also available for those that signed up for it? I got an invite, but when I tried to start it I was asked to provide a email/password and I have no idea which one to use. So now I am thinking I missed my chance since the invite was sent to me weeks ago and it seems I missed it in my mail inbox. >.>

20$ USD. There are multiple game modes right now, CTF, TDM, and King of the Hill. There are more planned in the future.

This game is a massively fun PvP experience. If you like PvP, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Been playing it a few days now, having so much fun in it! Classes feel balanced and the whole pvp is based around skill not face roll builds. Arenanet should take a note of it and maybe reshape their own pvp around it, it's that addictive.

Plus, I got it on a sale. Gives you a free copy to play with a friend! (sounds like i'm some publicity guy now 0.0)

I endorse this, Whilst rough around the edges (hell it's literally just been pushed out by some indie devs) it's basically what I wanted GW2 pvp to be like.

1.2 patch is live.

A few changes and the implementation of Arenas, which I just had a premade v premade. Though that part of the feature isn't officially in, we managed to work our way into an empty server and kick arse.

Hmm well I haven't played much, but the game general feel at first is a bit hmm "messy". You don't have a very clear idea of what is going on, all the character status is shown visually but the game doesn't tell you if you are poisoned, cursed etc... at least I didn't see it anywhere in the frenzy of battle. And maps are a bit monochromatic and dark, but they have a great design. I guess the problem with the low ratings could be class balance. Right now, I don't have any experience but from the few matches I have played, seems that the pyromancer is the best class. Is a nuker, but with the escape capabilities of an assassin (nearly), and the range of the pathfinder. He only lacks healing but heck that would be oblivious. Most damaging character with same range as the long range class, with super mario style jumpss, ground control, immobilzations from afar... idk it feels kinda op to me but then again I have played only like 5 matches? I'm no expert. Assassin also has a "problem" which is the WoW style stealth. You can be on stealth as much as you want until you hit someone, but then again there is not a super backstab skill so well, is just annoying. You can't enter stealth if suffering a dot, and enemies can hit you if they attack where you are even if you are stealthed.
And the game is based around the trinity concept where every char has it's role defined. I have been playing the assassin and is clearly designed with the hit and run tactics in mind, played otherwise isn't recommendable. So this is the melee dps/ambusher, then there is the pathfinder who is the ranged dps/point defender type of class and then you have the shaman which is a healer (the only one who can heal others) the pyromancer who is the nuker, and lastly Warden who is a tank.

I had fun playing it but I can't assure you if this is going to last long. If you like this kind of pvp is worth it anyways, for me is worth it. Maybe Silinsar can give you a gift code and try it out for yourself?

I was expecting it to be significantly better but it's not bad. I more or less agree with Arngrim's opinion of the game.
There is a little bit of a learning curve for some characters and the classes thus far seem to have a predefined role.

In it's current state I would say it is funner than SMITE but less enjoyale than GW2 s/tPvP.
As Liberis pointed out, on the bright side there are several features in development and soon on the way for Forge

I believe so, the devs are commited to the community and improving the game, which they had to release before it was entirely finished due to lack of Kickstarter funds followed by Steam Greenlight. All the reviews for this game speak glowingly of it's combat and it's classes. The issue is with polish and features that are required for a game like this to compete in the long term, which are coming.

Balance for the most part is pretty good. Wardens and Shamans are a little too good at what they do atm. The rest of the classes are in a pretty good state of balance. Pathfinders have a higher damage potential than Pyros but their attacks are projectiles so at long ranges they are less effective. Pyros have extreamly weak armor and die fairly easily but have plenty of ways to attack and a few ways to survive. Assassins also have paper armor, but their real enemy is teamwork.
