Yeah pretty much, I tested crafting just to see how it was (i made it to 15 artificier lol) I did events, salvaged drops, sold materials, sold drops,

Curses, I'm a crafter so selling mats is a no go for me.
Did you manage to sell weapons and armour? And of what kind? Only masterworks or did you manage to sell rares? And at what price?
I tried to sell stuff last stress test, obviously nothing sold, I guess that was because it was a stress test, and the trading post was basically broken.

In my opinion the best way to make money is just study the market.
The first week you just have to level up in peace, take all the drop and sell what you don't need. Sometimes stop at the Trading Post and take a look at all the items you took from your levelling up farm and figure out what are the most valuables and, more than that, what you need and what you don't.

After the first week (or less), you'll have an idea of what is worth farming and what you need to save for yourself.

Some of the cooking materials are only available from certain karma merchants. If you find one of those, you could spend some karma and sell them on through the Trading Post. Since they require knowing where the merchant is, they should fetch a decent price due to low supply.

If you try to make money on the TP, patience is paramount.

Can you explain more? What were you crafting? What were you selling? Which were the best selling items? What really wasn't worth trying to sell? Were there certain mats that would have made you more than crafting an item?

I know for one I will buy Gems and trade them for gold to get me started, depending how things go I will just keep gems on hand for ingame store things.

Yea I definitely understand people will be purchasing gems but I was trying to focus on making a guide to help people make some gold without using real cash $$$.

I think the simple fact is a lot of players know they will not be able to keep those drops when the game goes live so why bother..  Comes 8/25, folks will behave very differently mark my word.

At the end of the day, the best way to make gold are questing and/or play the market with mats/rare items if you are patience.  I am doing the former.  Enough said!

Sorry, I never approached it with making money in mind. I just did what I could to discover and level it as fast as possible. I don't remember the specific items that sold better than others. It just seemed to require the fewest mats for the greatest returns than other professions.
