I have a lore fitting tengu name just in case. Course I'd like a new profession to go with the new race (I have no idea what's left to add though).

Charr were my favorite race in GW1, and they will be in GW2. Plus I'm naturally attracted to beast races in all my video games. Humans-types bore me. That's why I'll stick to Asura and Charr (outside of my 1 human GW1 character remake).
Plus I really liked the Charr storyline so far. Much better than the others IMO.

I will be going with a Sylvari, Asuran and Norn as my top 3 and if I roll a 4th it will be human.

I guess that it comes down to what I think that looks cool. I don't necessarily think that big, monstrous characters are very cool as I am rather a fan of agility and intelligence (even if it has nothing to do with the in game preformance). I think that I can look cooler if my character is more recognizeable and less muscly, due to which I will neither create norn male characters. I also dislike the look of most heavy armour in all games due to this mindset. I know that some people think completely differently than me, though.

I just don't like playing humans, human-like races (ie norn, or in other mmos, elves, dwarves, etc), because it feels boring. I'm a human in real life, I play fantasy to not be myself. And in all mmos, I like finding the biggest most ferocious thing to play. In GW2, the charr are for me.
That's ok if everyone else wants to play a human, more food for me.

Charr are the least popular race. That surprised me. I see a lot of norn hate around here, and every fantasy rpg forum has people who complain that humans are too mundane for their tastes. So I was wondering:
Are the charr really that unpopular? Or was it just the hype that had yet to die down after new races were released, or was it something else that skewed things in a less-than-accurate manner?
Personally, I really liked the sylvari and asura that weekend, but as time went on, I decided that I wanted to have my main be a charr after all.

so far, asura:thief, charr:engineer, sylvaria:ranger, norn:guardian. are my choices.

For me my least favourite changes between the Norn and the Charr pretty often. I don't dislike them, their characters just don't appeal to me as much as the other three races.
I suppose it's possible that (even if they didn't play gw1) that the Charr feel like the bad guys and people don't want to play them as a result because they think they're going to be ripping off the heads of innocents or something. Also their military attitude might be pretty polarizing.
I'm still making one though since I plan to make one of every race, so maybe things will change when I play their personal story.

Charr soldiers have crappy animations compared to the norn.
Charr scholars have shitty armours.

As a race and a culture though, I have much more appreciation for them than either the norn or sylvari.

I love animalic creatures, and more importantly, they were the enemy of GW1: and since I started playing GW1 I dreamed of playing as a charr. Now I can!

Charr are really cool, I like their pragmatic way of life, discipline, and loyalty. The armors could be better but charr was my first thought back in 2009. I love the running animation, horns and Rytlock.
Oh and Pyre Fierceshot ^^

Heavy armor looks decent though and since I'm rolling all professions on day one, I will make a charr warrior.

I think Charr suffer from a meh model, though. They're all hunched over and it looks like they wear skirts... and armor looks kinda messy on them.
