Asura Elementalist - 3rd most popular race, 1st most popular profession for the race.
Human Warrior - 1st most popular race, 5th most popular profession for the race.
Sylvari Necromancer - 2nd most popular race, 4th most popular profession for the race.
Asura Guardian - 3rd most popular race, 3rd most popular profession for the race.
Human Thief - 1st most popular race, 3rd most popular profession for the race.

I'd say I'm pretty average. Not completely mainstream, but not quite unique either.
It's interesting to see, though I hardly care whether everyone or no one will be playing my race/profession combination. As long as I enjoy playing it, right? Character creation gives enough options to feel unique enough anyway.

Human Elementalist
Sylvari Mesmer
Asura Thief
Norn Guardian
Charr Warrior

I want at least one of each race to experience each storyline and these are the professions I thought most fitting for each race, without getting duplicate professions. I don't care much for being different just to be different.

Norn warrior for main and Asura engineer for alt. I guess just playing an engineer makes me a bit of a "hipster" since it's supposedly the least popular class, though there will be a lot of Asura ones.

Norn warrior makes me so mainstream that suddenly I'm starting to like "Call Me Maybe" and watching the Kardashians.

I'm going to be rolling a female Sylvari Engineer.

So yeah, I think that's the 4th least popular combo, and the least popular race for Engineer.   I'd call that pretty "hipster," but I don't really care about whether it's a common or uncommon choice.  I just like Sylvari, and Engineer.   I also happen to like the RP opportunities of that combo.

A ranger asura sounds prety interesting to me!!

(Btw is there a poll or something about what race/prof or combo of them is the most popular?)

Edit: Should have read OP's post be4 asking.... shame on me :(

I was Norn Mesmer before it was cool.
However my more played characters are going to be Charr Ranger, Asura Guardian and Norn Warrior. so they are less hipster.

I also somewhat like Sylvari (the Character Generation simply blew me away. SO many options through colours alone :-O ), and, since I'll main an Engineer almost certainly (unless somehow Mesmer tricks me into maining one before start of the headstart :D ), the hipster in me tends to go Sylvari...but I think I'll have more pleasure watching my Asura stumble around the world...
Both have a lot going for them, Asura Engi will be more Mainstream than Sylvari... I'm not set yet, though I tend to go Asura...

Let's see
Male Human Engineer (18% of the engineers, third most popular combination)
Male Sylvari Thief (22% of the thieves, second most popular combination)

Male Asura Mesmer (16% of the mesmers, third most popular combination)
Male Char Necromancer (16% of the necros, fourth most popular combination)
Male Norn Ranger (25% of the rangers, second most popular combination)

so, woohoo, not the most hipster or most mainstream decisions :)

Well as a player who has moved from once to the next and finally sticking with a Sylvari guardian I feel good. It's right in the middle for sylvari professions. Guardians are pure warriors and I like to think the sylvari as being pure, born from a tree, one with nature.

I'm going to play a smug norn necromancer that pretends to care about native rights but then shops at urban outfitters.

Also, his glasses don't have real lenses.

I can't decide what to play. Every time I think I've decided, I change my mind again.

I'm thinking...

Female Norn SB or dual pistols Thief.
Female Sylvari Longbow or Rifle Warrior.

lately, but I dunno!!! Ughh!

I found that of all race and profession combinations, I like sylvari ranger best.

That makes me mainstream I guess.

I play a sylvari ranger too :) Is that really mainstream? I just combined the profession and race I liked the most, and clearly that combination is a very good fit which makes it mainstream too. lol

I was thinking of running an Asura Engineer and a Silvari Ranger last BWE but ended up switching em around. Apparently that was very hipster of me.

Anyway, I'm thinking of rolling:

Sylvari Engineer
Human Elementalist
Norn Warrior
Charr Thief
Asura Necromancer

Well, according to suspicious charts posted by OP, sylvari is the most popular ranger race and sylvari ranger is the 7th most popular race-class combination. Which maks it pretty mainstream choice.

Yeah, I agree it's probably because it's such great fit. Sylvari = nature; Ranger = nature. Sylvari ranger = nature2

Norn warrior i like the idea of a big viking with a enourmous greatsword:) mainstream is powerful
Asura ranger because a tiny little yellow dude with a giant monster next to him is awesome!;) least chosen combination! Uber hipster!

Lol this might sound epicly stupid, but. Before every profession was revealed but ranger was, about a year ago, I had a dream where I was a sylvari ranger spinning around killing enemies epicly fast, jumping and doing carnival-tricks while glittering dust fell from me and I just pwning everyone and was this epicly cute green sylvari ranger...

haha :D

I guess this is why sylvari ranger is mainstream.. (because they fit so god damn well)

I've given in and decided to just go full asura but I haven't picked a main.

Elementalist
Mesmer
Thief
Warrior
Guardian

I don't know how mainstream or hipster those would be, but I don't much care.  Wait, do I get hipster cred for only playing one race?

I have been looking at this site for a while now and I so wish they could add one more field into the mix so we could see the %s further broken down by %.  I think female Charr elementalist would win out as least played.

Totally hipster, but now that they've been identified as second to least common I might have to roll Char Mes instead of Ele. :P

Charr Warrior

Most common Charr class, but Charr are pretty hipster in and of themselves! ;P
