Heroes are optional automatons, they dont detract me from playing with other people. People detract me from playing with other people sometimes though.
If heroes made you enjoy the game more, then go ahead and use heroes. Otherwise, then simply don't use them. Personally I think good human players are more powerful in the game than the AI ever can be. Furthermore, they can bring their own consumables and they can equip overpowered PvE-only skills, unlike heroes. The Speed Clear teams already prove that a human team is superior, in the elite areas, e.g. Underworld, DoA, etc.
If one decides he really needs to play with other human players, then he should work towards that himself and start making friends instead of asking ANet to remove the hero option from everyone else so as to force everyone to his own convenient play style.
Well first off its my opinion and my experience with the game. so im not sure what your trying to achieve with your comment too me, because its not a falicy or assumption, its what actaully occured from my experience. Heros removed the need to party with people 95% of the time and therefor the game became very anti social for me and others I know who experience the same thing because of the hero system.
secondly in my personal experience aswell as the experience with my friends we all felt (with the exception of playing together of course) that using heros was more benefical then playing with real players because you could fine tune a hero and they never go afk. Infact I never found a player to be as useful as a hero when doing solo 55 builds in UW for farming ecto.
And lastly I never once said ANET should remove heros from the game, because honestly guildwars 1 needed them, and secondly I cant ask ANET to remove something from Guildwars 2 that isnt there and NEVER WILL BE.....

Haha, but the heroes/henchies weren't the worst... I much more hate the mission NPCs you had to escort, who just didn't heed your flagging - so they naturally shadowed you as you went up to pull some mobs. Of course, then they charged headlong into the fray while you ran back to your hero team to await the oncoming mobs... oh wait, the NPCs... damn, unflag quick, pray to Balthazar and charge headlong into battle myself to save those mission NPCs!

As for the concept of heros: absolutely relieved to be rid of them, I prefer relying on myself to succeed in things, not on how good/bad some AI allies are.

After 7 years of Mhenlo, Cynn as the henchies, and Koss, Olias, Talkhora etc..
I'll certainly be in a few battles in GW2 thinking " Damn, I wish Orion was here right now to cast Firestorm, 6 seconds after the fight has finished"
Bless 'em.

I was never in a guild as I was quite heavily involved in EvE-online when I started GW1 as an EvE stress releaver in 2007.
I got into some dire pugs.
Some were admittedly very good but most truly dire.
With one or two guys, yep, you know them the overbearing know-it-alls flinging personal abuse around, unable to co-operate or willing to try something differant, tantrums, logoffs etc... etc...
Perhaps I just had a few bad experiances.
When I got Heros what a differance and in most cases their AI was better than some of the humans I teamed up with.
Totally transformed the game for me and I still play it today but always solo with Heros

In GW2 I'll probably just hang out with the heart NPCs because they seem like pretty cool friends.

They where there when you needed them.
Glad GW2 is designed to not need heros.

I am so glad they remove the need to party with people.
Ultimately it is people's choice as to how they want to play the game. Heroes is only an optional feature that enables a different play style. They are not forced upon you. So don't blame heroes. More choices is good.

Then your friends haven't heard of speed clear teams. These "elite" teams, consisting of all-human players, can clear the whole Underworld in an average of 25 mins. Try achieving even near that with a heroes team, you can't. Very few players even have the skills to successfully clear UW with a full heroes teams (you need to micro-manage them for that) yet a SC team does it so easily with human players so how can you say heroes are more powerful? Human players are obviously more powerful.

If you think about it logically, it makes sense too. Since only human players can equip the overpowered PvE skills on their skill bars and heroes can't.
