Dungeon Tokens to me have several pros and cons.

Pros:

-You know how many runs you have to do to get an item
-You show you worked for said item

Cons:

-You are stuck doing one dungeon to get the armor you want, even if you get bored of it
-You get nothing really for doing a dungeon with armor you don't want
-You are discouraged from helping a friend do a dungeon, since you gain little
-You cannot give them to an alt

Suggestion:

I suggest that tokens remain exactly the way they are (completely untradeable to an alt or anyone), but that they can be converted to something called "Mystic Tokens" in the mystic forge.  A mystic token would be a character bound item that could be traded at any dungeon at a 1:1 ratio for that token.  However, the process to create said token, would not be a 1:1 process.  It would be of the form:

X Dungeon tokens + (something minor) + (something minor) + 1 Crystal = 10 Mystic Tokens

Now, X would be a factor based on "How hard is this dungeon to complete with a decked out level 80?", and X would increase based on the ease of completion.  For example:

Ascalonian Catacombs (L35):

28 tokens + (meh) + (meh) + 1 crystal = 10 Mystic Tokens

Arah (L80):

15 tokens + (meh) + (meh) + 1 crystal = 10 Mystic Tokens

Now, as you can see, even if you wanted, say, some armor from Citadel of flame, it is not as simple as just going to the highest level dungeon and grinding to get it, it is much faster to go to that dungeon and grind that armor.

Additionally, while this does basically increase the amount of time you have to work to get an armor, if you don't want to do a specific dungeon or your friends aren't doing said dungeon and you want to play with them, you at least get some progress to the armor you want.

-----

Furthermore the same sort of general system could be used to make account bound versions of said dungeon tokens, although it would only transform tokens to tokens of the same dungeon.  E.g.

12 Dungeons tokens (From dungeon X) + (meh) + (meh) + 1 crystal = 10 Account bound dungeon tokens (From the same dungeon)
Fun while it lasted.  I guess.

Mystic tokens already exist in the game. I've no idea what their purpose is, but, well, they're already there. As such, your thread title is a bit misleading. I landed here hoping for info as to what the mystic tokens actually are....

Wait really? If that's true I'll change the title, but I don't recall that nor can I find anything about that on the wiki.

Edit: Ah there is a "mystic coin", that's pretty close.  Eh, whatever.  Not worth getting a mod to change the title to reduce a 2 second confusion.

Well, I do think you should be able to change 5 or 10 of one token for a token of a different dungeon. Chances are you will have some left over from the dungeon you were doing or perhaps you were doing the dungeon for fun and have no desire to get those weapons/armor. Being able to exchange them (but at a higher rate) would be very ideal. SWTOR does something similiar for there non-tradeable currency.
