Hey all I was just wondering how you all will be setting up your keybinds? I don't really think ill use the F keys for switching elements but i'm not sure what to use instead

I'll probably use something like R, Shift-R, F, Shift-F.

Phoenix_Down89:

This is commonly asked on the forums. . .

Here's my setup:

I'm using Shift+1,2,3,4 to switch attunement
Z is my heal (same key I use for bandage in a lot of FPS games)
Q and E are damage utility skills
X is my escape, cantrip, or party utility
C is my Elite Skill (Farthest away so I don't accidentally activate it)
Middle Mouse is Target nearest enemy
Tab/Shift+Tab for Cycle enemies

R is autorun
F is interact (Revive Downed Allie / Stomp Foe)
Alt is Mumble/Vent/Teamspeak talk
V is in game talk (if it's supported)

Only thing I'm not using is " ` " because that's typically the console button (and not comfortably in reach),  Capslock because obviously that would be super annoying, and the Windows Key which has been physically removed from my keyboard

---

Some people are pimping some mouse with a numberpad where your thumb is located and swear by it

Honestly I do not see it. . .
If anything it will make you slower in the long run given my experience with the Atari Jaguar Controller:

. . . and that lets you put 2 thumbs on the numpad :P

Still trying to figure this out myself, I started out with the regular controls since I was new to the game and now it's driving me nuts

My plan is:

Q Heal, F action
WASD movement
Shift + 1/2/3/4 for attunements
12345 weapon skills
E/R/T for Utility

Q is dodge
E is heal
Z X C V are attunements

Everything else is pretty much stock

RDFG movement.  I have big hands and so that actually makes it more comfortable for me to be able to reach the modifier keys but most importantly it opens up QWAS\ZX as very convenient little finger options if I avoid using modifier combinations which I probably also will because I'm a big fan of my Naga.  That means 1-9 will be on the thumbpad of that while giving me three extra keys on it which I haven't entirely decided how to use (but probably one will be for weapon swaps and one will be for dodges.)  I think not having my elite skill on the thumbpad is actually better just because it removes the possibility of accidentally using it but may end up keeping it on 10 after all.  QWAS will be my main F1-F4 replacements.

That leaves me with 9 of my normal 'easy' keybinds unallocated currently (ETYH are also easy to use, although not while strafing) and then I also have 12 shift-thumbkey combinations which would generally go on consumables, target markers, etc.

I'm using standard WASD for movement.  A/D remapped to strafe.

SHIFT for heal.

Q - fire
E - air
R - water
F - earth
Z - utility 7 (condition removal)
C - utility 8
X - select item/talk

Naga 1 button - dodge
Naga 2 button - utility 9
Naga 3 button - utility 0

I'm always moving so I always have one of the WASD keys held down so dodge on the mouse keeps your response time fast without having to to stretch to press a 2nd key.  Actually for this reason I might move heal onto the mouse also.

I'm kinda nit picky so I like to keep mine all lined up.

I use Alt+1,2,3,4 for attunements
Q is heal
E, R, T are utilities
G is elite

Of course S and D are changed to strafe for the WASD movement.

Everthing else I leave the same.

My guess is 1-6 will be as they are, 7-0 will be QERT.

Changing attuments are bound to my mouse.

This is how I am starting for now. I'm using to swapping fingers around fast for moving and using those particular keyboard binding but F1-F4...F THAT

Roll i haven't decided but i think mouse wheel right. If not I still have 8 more buttons open (plus 12 if I want to use g-shift) on my g600

Either way it's still a crap ton less binding then my Blood DK used to have.

Thankfully, I will be getting my G600 mouse 5 days before the early access, and will keybind my abilities to that.
