Does anyone know if the churning earth start channeling after the dodge (most likely) or if it's instant cast (I can hope...)? At least it looks like there will be more incentive to use other trait lines now :\

Most traits and achievements are just re-written while remaining the same.  So, purely cosmetic.

The biggest change, is the fact that crafting recipes now require a lot more mats (20-50%).  This is discouraging, especially at the lower levels.  If this holds, mats will definitely out-value all crafted items.

I didn't look through most of the achievements and crafting (trying to keep some things fresh for launch), but from what I saw of the traits, it seems like most of them had the same functionality as before, they just reworded the descriptions to be more concise and consistent across all classes (i.e., replacing the word "enemy" with "foe" every time it appeared).  I think only a couple of the ones I looked at were measurably different....

I find that interesting, but a little disappointing.  With so many changes, I was expecting more change. ^_^

Edit: And now that I'm paying more attention, WOW did thief's "Martial Agility" trait get better!!!!! :o  One of the few changes, but it's a biggie.....

What are these satchel of armor things? Do you get credit for discovering each armor piece, or do you need to have discovered each one already?

I don't know if you're also tracking this, but the rewards for the lvl 4 and lvl 6 personal story quests have also changed.  The lvl 4 now offers you a choice of 1 of the 3 gathering tools and lvl 6 now grants you a chestpiece.

Not item slots, only some new stats and one upgrade slot. Item slots are still in bags. Satchels are like wings in Runes of Magic and Aion. They are used only to look better and have few more stats. Actually, from what I can tell, it's a loot bag that contains a full set of armor (i.e. all 6 pieces) with specific stats, rather than making you discover each of the 6 armor pieces seperately. If you save up the Bone Chips, for example, you would be able to craft one of these satchels full of +vitality gear in one go.

I say this because the material requirements are exactly what all 6 pieces would require and there's that description when you hover over the name that says "Double-click to unpack a full set of armor."  As an example:
Satchel of Vital Seeker Armor (Master) 12x Bolt[s] of Jute 18x Stretched Rawhide Leather Square[s] 40x Spool[s] of Jute Thread...48x Bone Chip[s]
For a Leatherworker to craft one of each of the crafting components (Glove Strap, Glove Lining, etc.) for tier-1 gear, 6 Jute, 18 Rawhide Leather, and 10 Jute Thread is required.  The insignia would necessitate another Bolt of Jute, 5 Jute Thread for the Masterwork versions, and it now appears 8 blue trophies (up from the 5 that Masterwork items cost as of last week) per item.  This all totals to exactly 12 Jute, 18 Rawhide Leather, 40 Jute Thread, and 48 trophies.

EDIT:  During the 8/10 stress test, I attempted to find out about any changes to crafting after seeing this post.

I can confirm that Iron Ingots now require 3 Iron Ore per ingot, as opposed to 2 previously.  I was not able to check on Steel, which is also noted in the OP, as I have not gotten any disciplines to the 150-range since BWE2, apart from Chef.  Oddly enough, none of the other basic material requirements were raised at all.  5 Bronze Ingots still cost 10 Copper Ore and 1 Lump of Tin.  Refined Leather, Cloth, and Wood still only require 2 of their respective basic materials per unit.

Also, Masterwork-level insignia/inscriptions now require 8 blue trophies of a type each, rather than the previous 5.  The lesser quality versions of these insignia/inscriptions still require 3 trophies a piece.

"Satchels," or anything of the sort, were not listed in my production tab, nor was I able to discover such recipes in the discovery pane at the crafting stations.  The spools of thread and trophies do not even appear as usable items in the discovery tab (besides for artificer potions with certain trophies).  My first thought was that maybe one must discover all of the individual  item recipes of a certain type to be able to use "satchel" recipes for additional copies, but that did not seem to be the case, either.

I don't know if these "satchels" are not-yet-fully-implemented crafting recipes, are only learnable from new recipe sheets, or are simply some sort of dev-items that we will not actually see ourselves.  Whatever the case, they were not readily available as of Friday.

Thanks for the info from your tests (and of course thanks OP). Yes the boxes, satchels etc are almost certainly an easier way to craft a full set of armor. I think the main question is whether it gives you the same/more/less crafting experience compared to the individual recipes. Of course, we need to take into account experience drop depending on what level you craft the components, as well as potentially zero exp if crafted 25+ levels over the base level.

Additionally, I find it curious that the recipes for exotic armor are exactly the same as the rare counterparts. For example:

 • Box of Carrion Barbaric Armor (Rare) 16x Mithril Ingot 7x Bolt of Silk 10x Spool[s] of Silk Thread [s]6x Carrion Intricate Silk Insignia[s] 10x Carrion Intricate Silk Insignia[s]
 • Box of Carrion Draconic Armor (Exotic) Skill Level 400. [s]16x Mithril Ingot[s] 7x Bolt[s] of Silk 10x Spool[s] of Silk Thread 6x Carrion Intricate Silk Insignia[s] 16x Item534 7x Item3834 10x Item24546 10x Item57244

I'm not sure if there's an error somewhere or not, but I can't really see why anyone would craft the rare version if the exotic version costs exactly the same. Also, orichalcum doesn't seem to be in any of the recipes for armorsmithing whatsoever.

I agree on the concern about experience gain should these satchels be available to us come the live version of the game.  I have noticed from my testing that Bronze Ingots, for example, do not award any more experience per craft than do any other tier-1 refinement, even though you obtain 5 ingots per click of the button, rather than 1 each of wood, cloth, or leather, so this is a valid concern.  There's a potential loss of the experience gain from 12 crafting components, 6 insignia, and potentially 5 item crafts (plus discovery bonuses) if they work anything like the Bronze Ingots do in this regard.

About the exotic item crafting:  From digging around in the GW2DB, I found that the main differences seem to be simply that crafted exotic items require tier-6 materials/trophies and require you to have already reached rank 400 in the associated discipline.  The non-exotic items use tier-5 or below materials and require a maximum of level 375 in a discipline.  Oh, and these (though Jeweler seems to use some at 375, as well):

Thanks for that link. That would make more sense (regarding the exotic gear). The descriptions in the posts above must be a typo then.

Yes I have noticed the same thing with bronze refinement, which is a shame. They really should correct the experience gain for those. According to the DB, 1 steel ingot requires 3 iron ore + 1 lump of coal, not the usual 10+1 that bronze has, which means that problem isn't as big a deal for steel (and presumably darksteel), but does mean that the cash sink has massively increased from tier 3 onwards due to the amount of coal/primordium that you will need.

Personally, I'm quite hesitant to collect all the materials to craft a set of armor and then realize that the CXP gain from the discovery was similar to that of just one of the components, especially given how they increased the number of fine materials required for the insignias now =/

I'd say I still see a lot of problems in the database. I know it's still new, but that's why I'd like some improvement.

First of all: Weapon lists are hard to figure out. It names every single weapon and version thereof in a straight line. It is too hard to focus in it. What should be done is make a list of weapons, then smaller lists under each weapon about the types and such.

The skill calculator is another problem. A small part of the skills don't match the weapons (minor errors that are easily corrected) and skills that change your skillset (like Warrior's Rampage) don't show it's skills, and you can't look it up in the primary weapon set like you can with Elementalist's conjured weapons.

Minor problems, I know, but I really like the database, and I'd like for it to work as well as possible.
