From what little we've heard, Click-to-Move has been axed and you can only move via WASD. Is trading C2M for WASD+Jumping and a Z-axis a good trade?

I use a combination of both so seeing the click to move be gone in GW2 will take some getting used to. But I also think jumping is stupid so is it a good trade? not for me.

Losing c2m won't affect me in the slightest. To be frank, I find it irritating clicking to move. As long as I have my W key and right mouse button, I'm happy.

That's pretty awful. Before I would use key binds to activate skills, and click to move as well as selecting party members. If this rumor is true, I will thoroughly pissed and downright annoyed.

It's a terrible trade. I could care less about jumping around, but I want my click-to-move.

I hate click-to-move and never use it, so it won't bother me at all. I already use WASD pretty much exclusively.

I don't want a Z-axis but I do like c2m. So it's pretty annoying to me actually.

Click to move was a nice lag counter-measure, though I spent the vast majority of my GW playing years before realizing that. So I'll survive, but I can understand how some people will be upset without it.

I've always hated c2m feels like I turned auto-pilot on... and every once and a while the auto-pilot crashes into a mountain (you get stuck on something).

Maybe it's because play FPSs but I've always liked WASD, in fact I liked my Q and E keys too, side strafing is nice.

I mainly used WASD, but I used click-to-move to kite since backpedaling with 'A' is terribad. So this annoys me.

I hate to bring this up but I believe this is going to be a trend that will play itself out the longer this thread goes on. The PvP community is more than likely going to hate this idea, because we know the advantages of c2m over wasd and love to free up our keyboard for easier access to skills, weapon swapping, and party member selection. The PvE community generally doesn't care one way or another if c2m is gone and a lot of people want to be able to jump.

Now I'm not saying this will be the same for everyone, there are a lot of PvPers who use wasd and I'm sure a lot of PvErs almost exclusively use c2m. But the majority of the opinions are more than likely going to be:

PvE: It is either a great trade-off, or one they don't care one way or another.
PvP: bad trade-off because c2m is an important tool in the PvP game. (Not to mention jumping is going to add a whole extra side of PvP that could lead to some skills being abused and overpowered when in mid-air seeming as anet has stated skills will function differently depending on your status).

Without c2m, Soul Wedding will not return to Guild Wars.

You want the Koreans back, rite guise?

I enjoy click to move, as I often play Guild Wars while eating a plate of nachos. My nachos will be missed.

I used c2m in the beginning of the game then stuck to wasd/arrow keys. I don't care if c2m is there or not. I didn't really like it in the first place.
But, I remember a thread like this on guru and tons of pvpers were going on about how important it is. So...I guess it'd be pretty bad if it was removed for the pvpers...

As long as I can now go down slopes instead of taking a 5 minute detour to find a nice bridge down  I will be happy with the loss of C2M

WASD and C2M both have their advantages and disadvantages in terms of game play.

For example, in Guild Wars, hitting someone in the back automatically results in a critical hit. This is one of the big issues of C2M vs. WASD. When kiting, you can C2M, and your character will immediately turn around and run, exposing it's back to the attacking opponent. If the opponent is currently buffed to run faster than you, it'll get in a few hits which will automatically be critical. However, if you're buffed faster, or you both have an even speed boost, then you'll get hit maybe once, avoiding a good amount of damage. This is also easier and faster than having to 'X'->'W' or 'X'->'R' with WASD.

On the flipside, WASD allows you to press 'D' and walk backwards. You walk slower, however you don't expose your backside to your opponent. This means you take a lot less critical hits, although you get hit more.

It's the balance between these two movement styles that allows for healthy argument and discussion as to when to use which, and if one clearly trumps the other. It's pretty disappointing to see it go.

I hate click to move, I always ruined my spells by accidentally clicking the ground. I hope it's gone, good riddance to that shit.

R ftw.

Wait, can you still click on an NPC/Item to move to it?

I only click on items/npc's or when running off to the horizon.

So not a big loss.

You do know that you can disable click to move, right?

Anyways, I'm very disappointed. I use c2m, and I know the importance of it in PvP.

I liked c2m. I could just click and browse away from GW. Oh well, not a huge loss if it is gone.

If we still have autorun, there could be hope for your nachos.

I almost always use WASD, so it's a good trade in my opinion.

It mainly will affect the manner in which PvP is played.

I'm curious what the Z-axis will bring in return however, so I'm withholdng judgment for now.

I really hope so. I hate having to actually run up to something to pick it up in WoW. I would much rather be able to click on it, and have my character do the rest.

I hated click to move, but if there is a significant portion of the community that uses it, I don't feel it should be taken away.

I honestly think it would be silly not to include it. People prefer what they want, but plenty of people in GW like c2m. WoW has c2m...

This. I mostly WASD, but click-to-move is very useful and frankly, nothing beats clicking on destinaton and being able to do something else like chat or even alt tab.
