I actually never noticed it until BWE3. It doesn't really bother me. It did for about 5 minutes when I first discovered it, but I didn't even notice it in either stress test.

I think it looks really nice, and since I'm not often focused on the edges of my screen it never really distracted or bothered me.

I really like the border. It fits the style Guild Wars 2 is trying to portray perfectly.

This thread makes me laugh a bit. You can tell we are getting really anxious to play with threads like this.

Either I have never paid attention to them or noticed or I don't have them. Because I don't remember ever seeing black around my screen. And if they were there, I must of not cared or liked it enough not to really notice it.

I'm pretty sure I never had black around my edges now that I think of it.....

I have a bad case of OCD, and yes, it bothered me like crazy during BWE 1, 2, and 3. During the last stress test, however, I didn't find it as bad. I'm guessing I'll get used to it eventually, but I worry about it might cause LCD burn-in if you play GW2 too long in one zone.

Now that I think about it, I think I do have OCD... It never came to my mind, until lately, I have been checking the same thing over and over and over and over... (especially graphics options).

And look, it doesn't really bother me THAT much, I just find it messy and weird.
You can still see it as a painting (whateverrr) even if the black edges weren't there.

LCD burn in, loool, mate unless you leave your screen on for weeks at a time standing still in game you don't need to worry. Even then it's unlikely, I haven't changed my wallpapers for over a year and my screens are on 8-10 hours a day, I also have multiple screens and sometimes one of them will just sit there for a day not really being used. Absolutely no burn in detectable.

Unless you're playing on a plasma TV, it's not ever gonna be an issue. Seems like an extremely irrational concern to me.

Tbh, I never noticed these before I read the first post on this thread. I had to check my screenies whether I also had this in my game and, to my suprise, they were there. I guess it's needless to say that they don't bother me as I didn't even notice them before.

Its interesting how you mention that you dont like "borders".

look at your monitor and you will see about an inch of black border around the sides, what guild wars 2 did is made it a bit more artistic. They did it well enough that people didnt even notice it as you can see from the replies.

it actually makes it look better, unless ofcourse you have OCD.

There will be a mod to remove it, don't you worry, even if modding isn't officially supported someone will make a patch or a file replacer or edited game files for it anyway, they always do.

Maybe it's 'cos they're still in beta, so the painters didn't bother putting too much time into painting things that might get scrapped. Maybe when the game is released, they'll get the painters in and put some finishing touches in, and all the windows and edges will be made straight.

Never noticed, but was bothered by it anyway. Now notice, not bothered. Bothered that I didn't notice. Bothered by being bothered.

It adds a very cinematic feel and goes great with the artstyle of the game.

With that said, I wish they add an option for the vignette and the flashing borders when health gets low.

I noticed it very early on and considered it to be an aspect of their "painterly feel". I don't mind if it's there or not, but I do like that the border is slightly thicker in the top left corner, as it helps highlight the icons there in areas with more of a white landscape background (Shiverpeaks, for example).

Honestly, I didn't even see any borders untill you pointed them out. So for me personally it's not a big deal at all.

Doesn't bother me, and I did notice it before.  I like the artsy look to it.  I suppose it couldn't hurt to make a check box to turn it off along with the bleed warning for those who don't like it.  I wouldn't expect that for launch though.
