Do you think the developers of GW2 like us?

If that was the case, we'd be talking about GW:TOR right now...
I don't get it with people thinking that art just comes poof out of thin air as long as money is involved. That's the reason everything is so low quality right now, it's too corporate. You make it all about money, you kill everything: creativity, idealism, ambition, excitement, spirit. And without all those, GW2 would not exist. It's why GW2 is good, and why WAR, new-WoW, and SW:TOR are bad.
I've observed a lot of games, corporate and not. GW2 doesn't look like a corporate game.
I find it doubtful that you've played WAR... it is very hard to miss all the love and attention to detail that was pumped into that game. Despite it being released a year to early and then abandoned shortly after, it is a solid game.
I didn't like TOR but there was love pumped into that game to, furthermore it is a quality game. The problem is consumers don't want what TOR is.
Anyways, you have it backwards, it is the desire for money that spawned Guild Wars 2. The pursuit of the dollar in a competitive market is what sparks creativity, innovation, quality, - and yes - even Guild Wars 2's unique B2P model (which is something that no one seems to get).

If you can't come up with concrete examples, you're probably misinterpreting or incorrectly internalising stuff about faceless companies, etc.

But, I talk to quite a few devs on twitter rather frequently. I've played with them in-game. A lot of them really are just normal, down to earth people who love the game they're working on, and really enjoy how passionate of a community this game has. When I first started talking with some of them, I was completely in awe - someone who's working on this game is actually responding to me. And then I realized...they're really just like us. And they're just really fun, nice people.
Hell, one of my favorite BWE moments so far was partying up with a dev at the end of BWE3, and having him promptly lead all of us in the party (and another another 20 people who saw the ANet logo and followed) to our deaths at the fire elemental, both because it was funny to see us freak out and because he wanted to see it for himself
So with my personal experience? Yeah, I'd say that over all, the devs do like the community, and not because we're flinging money at them.

They probably go "Here's that idiot trying to tell us how to rebuild a class they know nothing about...."
I wouldn't be surprised if they laugh at 90% of the threads/posts made here.

Outside of that, the Devs are guarded and speak very carefully online because we (their community) will misinterpret, twist, and then go COMPLETLY @#$%ING BERSERK on any miss-chosen word or accidental slip, and they know it. They have to be very, very carefull, and that tends to get in the way of giving us all hugs.
Outside of that, WE exhibit bad behaviors. Anyone who watched the recent live chat with Ree and Jeff, and paid any attention to the Twitch.tv chat at the bottom, knows exactly what im talking about (for those who missed it, the constant comments about Ree and Jeff's physical traits, both creepily positive and insultingly negative, was about 50% of the chat). In case some of you don't realise this, Anet also has 7 years of experience with players with players scamming, lying, exploiting, hacking, and in general, abusing them in any way WE can find an opportunity. And still, they make a new game for us and say they love us. I have not met any of their staff in person, but have chatted with one of their community managers/team, Rubi*, back when she was a player and fan, and she is a really nice lady. Of all the companies who's games I have played, I feel that Anet is extremely positive and bears us goodwill, in spite of what we put them through.
Plus it probably is a nice bonus that they can make a living providing entertainment for us.

there are masses of lists like this.
Arenanet puts on a front but it's not how they truly operate.
(all this was on the facebook page by the way)
Well....I highly doubt the people on Facebook are the ones setting the prices. They give the answer they were told to give and then are ready to move one. You and others push and push and push, bam banned. I would ban you too. That is outside of their scope of responsibilities That does not make them bad people or an uncaring company. I am betting your answers would come from the suits at NCSoft.

Some individual artists may have loved it. The main stuff, not really.

The pursuit of the dollar spawns the dollar. Nothing. Else. Nothing else can logically come from chasing the dollar. Why would it?
Everything else you ever get is an accident or a result of people not caring about the dollar. It's not rational to make high quality products that cost a lot of money when you can make low quality products that cost little and sell well. And that's all you are ever going to get.
Money != quality. Money is just money. It doesn't always magically come up to quality or production. If we did, we'd live in a perfect world and would have been swarming in quality products, it's kinda the opposite right now. Marketing is king, quality is forgotten. I wish we lived in this nice free market where everyone's earnings were directly equivalent to the work they put into something, but that's so far from reality it's not even funny.
I'm pretty certain GW2 cost a lot less to produce than SW:TOR. SW:TOR is all about shoddy voice actors reaping profits for shoddy work. That's your money, right there. Look at it!
GW2 is an exception in a sea of garbage of the entire gaming industry. I'm still not always convinced GW2 exists and I wonder if something terrible is going to happen it or if it's going to go into some greedy cash shop scheme that would ruin the game.

I have really appreciate the office movies that the ArenaNet team has released and all the different people from the company that have been featured. Like most people, I have had my share of games that I have cheered for during their development, but it has been years since I have really cared more about the dev team of the game succeeding at their crazy goals than the game itself. You guys are easy to root for... keep up the good work!
