I think they are fully aware of that. They've been gamers themselves, they know the bad parts and the good parts of the community and have already proven that whining about something does not mean they'll change it. REmeber all the whingin about AC being too dificult? Well, they sipmly came out and said they were not changing it, it's as it was intended and people will need to learn that

So, what i'm saying is that people complaining are less mature than i was as a 7 year old. I hope that makes them feel better about themselves.
Oh, no sorry, i meant the other one: I hope they either grow the hell up or get thrown in a pit. Preferably with a sarlacc, or the barnie theme tune on a loop playing down there.

However, we're just getting started. We don't even know what it is yet, or if it'll be available to others who were unable to attend, via different means.
The game hasn't even been released yet. A bit early to rage on, yanno?

As far as I'm concerned though, as long as these "special items" aren't something completely game breaking and/or inaccessible to the rest of their playerbase, I couldn't really care less.

I'm really not sure how PvE can be competitive in a game where everyone gets credit for everything that happens around them and there are no gear requirements for end-game content.
But yeah, I don't really care if they get mini-pets that six months down the road are worth millions of gold. Not because I don't think PvE is competitive but because it doesn't hurt me and I don't see how it hurts anyone else. I don't think it is unfair either.

Can't blame me for wishing I could have been there myself too though... right?
Actually somewhat said that it says special item and not exclusive... no one really know what they complain they are not getting yet. lol
I managed to live through GW1 without having every single item in the game, I will manage not to have every danm thing in GW2. Besides I already got CE and HoM items

I mean, there was a lot of cheese in GW1 and there will be in GW2 (unicorn bow shooting rainbows cheese).
That's the only thing I have to complain in regards of Anet behavior. Stop being cheesy.
Stop making cheesy "events" and the like.
What's the point of creating an atmospheric environment full of epicness if then you fill it with cheese?
Say no to cheese. Ham all the way.

All it shows is that you happened to show up at the convention, it could have been happening on your doorstep, at the other side of the world or been a convention you were always planning to go to anyway. That either means there was next to no effort involved since it was so close, you're more than a bit sad for travelling across the world for an in-game item or it was just a happy by-product of your intended trip to the convention.
There's nothing prestigious about it, it's just a personal thing.

And i got realy suprised of the comments under it. The majority started to complain about how it is unfair because not everyone will get these "special in-game" items. That some people won't be able to appear at gamescom even if they want to.
It seems that nowdays it is just became normal that everyone complains over anything and everything.
Personaly my first thought was that how lucky those people will be who get these items. I doubt anything like "how unfair it is" would have come to my mind at all if i don't read the comments.
These items are "special" because not everyone will be able to obtain it. (Note: this is only a speculation as we don't know what are these items actualy) There is even a chance that we will be able to buy it later with gems/money or simply obtain it in late-game content.
In my opinion this is quite disrespectful towards Anet. With these little gestures they are showing us how they care and love their community.
I was just wondering what is your thoughts about this. Is this the mentality which will be most common in the future and in the game? Or do you think these people are only a minority who just simply give voice to their opinion?
Seeing these kind of comments make me realy sad to be honest, not even mentioning the comments under the "I've just met you, and this is crazy" post Anet posted a few weeks earlier on their FB page.
actually I find it perfectly understandable that someone would be angry that they can't get something because they live to far or have to work, I think it's unfair for some germans to get something I can't, I've been to germany (Its a dump) why can't the event be available for everyone and not just a select few?

Wouldn't this special in-game item be soulbound? (tied to your account and be unable to sell it)
I would agree it's a little shifty if it can just get sold off to make somebody an insta-millionaire just because they showed up at a convention.

You also see this a lot when a company holds a contest but for whatever legal reason can't give prizes to Canadian or Australian players or whatever. People having an absolute fit over it. It's like...Seriously?

Ya im gonna have to agree with you, people do suck. I myself am a jerk most of the time but I can live with that. But even I dont concern myself with a special item that gives no power advantage to the person recieving it.
And this isnt the first MMO ive seen this happen in. WoW has had many unique blizzcon items. like the polar bear mount and my favorite the murgol suit. Do I wish I had those items hell ya, Am I butt hurt about not being able to get them...nope not at all and this is coming from a HUGE D-Bag if you dont believe me ask my wife and my friends. I laugh at old people who fall down hahahaha
