ive played every single bwe and stress test on crystal desert and ill be playing on it when it comes out, i like the name and thought it was cool so i went with it and im glad cause we destroy in WvW, almost took stonemist for the 2nd time today before the test ended

Isn't Team Legacy mostly sPvP? Doesn't mean much for community.

I would expect Gate of Madness to be popular for WvW with that Titan Alliance and Reddit's Karma rolling there.

Well, I listen to the tales of Tyria podcast and I am pretty sure they have been very active in WvW, and also helping with PUGS and such so it seems like they will do both WvW and Spvp..

I actually picked crystal desert the first time around because I liked the name but realized it was super popular and a couple people I knew couldn't get in..so the next time I chose gates of madness but that one had another big alliance on it (and ended up being packed)  I am going to go with tarnished coast I think for launch because I figure the really pvp competitive players will go elsewhere.

Oh and Reddit just picked Isle of Janthir along with the Gates of madness for their official servers so they will be full also on release.

If its anything like Proudmore, it will have an above average IQ. I had my only alt on proudmore, lots of helpful nice people.

Agree - it was my favorite prophecies region and it had the best music in the entire series imo

Yep, my guild (Wolf Parade) is still on Proudmoore and we love it there (I haven't subbed to wow for nearly a year now, but it WAS great when i played).

I chose Crystal Desert because it sounded cool. Turns out, it had an active WvW community. However, that may change for launch. I'm not entirely sure I plan on switching for launch either.

Stonewall Vanguard is a great lgbt+ally guild if you are interested . stonewallvanguard.com  A lot of great people, no drama.

Since Crystal Desert is the "gay" server, it will very much be like Proudmoore. Stonewall and Taint will be the largest guilds on the server. So if you had a good experience with Proudmoore, I'd suggest going to crystal desert.

I loved the community on Proudmoore. I seriously want to have the same experience in GW2. the problem is Crystal Desert is really full looking

May I ask a probably stupid question, that I don't know the answer to.

Will we be choosing our world again on launch or are we stuck with what we choose in beta and tests?
I assume it's the former considering the wipe between BWE2 and BWE3.

If their priority is playing together they should probably pick another server. A lot of guilds will have to use the free transfer to move elsewhere or lose a lot of members when it reaches full in minutes, before all their dudes are there.

Someone still has to be the best and win a lot, conversely someone has to lose the most. I'm more worried about not being on the worst server, as long as that's fine I just want to be with my friends but a lot more people have bigger goals, if they can unpack to another server they should either do it now or make a plan in case things don't go as planned on launch.

The Ascension Alliance (500+ players) has moved from Crystal Desert to Northern Shiverpeaks, according to GW2Guilds.

This should open up some space to those who want to join like-minded guilds on Crystal Desert.

Worst server for WvW is most likely either going to the RP server or the smallest server.  I'm personally going to be on Tarnished Coast as it is the designated RP server, but I'm pretty worried about us always being at the bottom, always losing.  The only reason I'm sticking with it though is that we might do well just for the fact many people playing on the server probably won't know it's the unofficial RP server and will bring good PvP with them. (Not to say all RPers are bad, but if you've ever played on a RP server you know what I mean when it comes to the amount of highly skilled players.)

The problem with the RP server is that they can't chat with their enemies. So they can't RP with them. D= That's a huge nerf for them. u_u

I chose it because of the awesome name. ^^ I hope that some of the big communities go to other servers, since this one will be full.

I was wondering if someone could explain the appeal of LBGT guilds in gaming. I understand the potential sensitivity of the topic and absolutely am asking only out of curiosity.

Other than LGBT guilds, I can't think of any other type of gathering focus not directly applying to communication ability (languages spoken), direct play style (pvp, pve, hardcore, raiders, etc) legal considerations (restricting membership of minors) or geographical clustering (combining players of the same timezone).
Personally, I've never considered something like gender identification or sexual orientation when determining my peers for an online game. And honestly, neither topic has ever came up in 10+ years of playing mmos with all sorts of different people from all different walks of life from all over the world. Either people are cool with who you are, or they are probably crappy people.

Is it that these guilds are more respectful to you as a person than guilds who don't identify this way? Or does the topic of orientation or partner preference factor more heavily in to your playstyle or day-to-day play sessions?

As I said before, as someone not in this particular position, I am simply curious and hoping to have a better understanding.

From what I understand, people join guilds like LBGT or all female guilds so that they can be in a community where they don't get discriminated against or have to deal with people saying offensive things in guild chat.  In a LBGT guild you probably won't see people saying "faggot" as an insult, or in a female guild "What are you doing outside of the kitchen?".  This is just my best guess, as I've never been in a "special interests" guild before.
