I'm curious to see screenshots of the various races & genders in their town clothes, and in the fun outfits from the gem store! Since these outfits look different for every race, this should be interesting. Also, if your gender & race combination has already been posted, go ahead and post your screenshot anyways, I'm also curious to see how the outfits look on different face / hairstyle / skin color .... combinations ^^

I'm also interested to see what colors you used to dye your town clothes :)

I'll start with two pictures of my Asura in the preview section of the gem store:

Looks really good on an asura.

I hope we get more of these game related town clothes and see less (or preferably none) of the non game related sunglasses.

They did say they were going to make all of the normal NPC clothes wearable.

Thanks! Oh, that's great they said that.

Is there any info on more cultural / racial town clothes becoming available, especially non- gemstore related? Sort of like the cultural armor tiers?

It'd be really cool to have more town clothes specifically designed for each race. Make them as expensive as you want, but it'd be awesome for example to have an expensive evening gown for a human, or a ... well, whatever a Norn, Asura, Charr or Sylvari would wear when they want to dress up for a special occasion :P

Thanks. I wonder what those town clothes were actually like on a character. My asura warrior may have to take chef for crafting,.

I'm somewhat sad to see how few town clothes there are in the game. I remember an old interview in which ArenaNet mentioned that our characters would eventually be able to wear almost anything the NPCs wear. I'm guessing this was removed, which is a pity.

I personally won't be going for town clothing... it's kind of useless when you think about the fact that you won't be able to have everone check you out while you're in combat, wich will most likely be the place you'll be spending most of your time on.

But some of those do look rather nice.

Not me :P I spend so much of my time just hanging around cities, exploring, doing vistas and jumping puzzles, and roleplaying ... town clothes are awesome for all of this ^^

Yeah, i can see the appeal for some people, but it would be nice to have the option of adding these skins for normal gear so i could wear it in battle, i guess after having reached lvl 80 and collected alot of stuff alredy i'll be spending some time trying to get these clothes.

Here's the basic human female town clothes. Pretty much the exact same dress all the girls in DR are wearing. Hehe. If I dyed it blue and stood around I could totally pass for an NPC. I actually really like though, I think it's quite pretty, wouldn't mind having something like that to fight in. Short(ish) skirt ftw.

Ahaha, I love how the pirate hat looks on Asura with that huge feather!

Here are Sylvari town clothes, not the best shots though. And apologies these aren't behind a spoiler tag, this forum makes me feel like an idiot lol.

Wow the chef one doesn't even look like a chef. Maybe it's because you're missing pieces on the screenshot. May have to buy that for my sylvari because I am totally in love with the sylvari themed clothes and wish there were more. :(

I don't recall what the hat looked like, but the hand item is like a leafy looking oven mitt. Definitely looked cook-ish, which is why I wasn't wearing it. I just wanted something leafy.

I don't think so, I believe you will be able to purchase many clothes from NPC's around the towns, but they are not available yet, or not in beta. Think about it, they made a big issue of having two sets to appear on your character already, why not have clothing for the races throughout the game?

Thanks, I'll tell her the next time I'll see her ... she'll be very flattered ^_^
Your Ele looks awesome too, I LOVE those glasses, and I giggled at the /hairtoss ^^

Thanks for all the pictures so far, really interesting to see the various cooking and pirate outfits! I lol'ed at the description of a Norn "strutting her stuff", so true ^^

And now I finally know where to get those Sylvari clothes ... I've seen it before as concept art and on NPC's, but didn't know where it was from. It's the cooking clothes :)

It's funny because he's technically naked!

My asura's town clothes. I think I did a good job with the colours.

My charr's town clothing. Again, I like the colouring.

I, too, went with the pirate outfit. I think the dye I used was Pastel Pink but I don't remember for sure.

I won't buy costumes after launch because we can't wear them when we're out adventuring. If ANet changed the costumes to be like in GW1 where they were just a "skin" over our armor and we could use them while adventuring, I would definitely buy them!

Once you buy a costume can it be used by all characters on your account or do you have to buy one for each?

You get one set of clothing items - they're not soulbound, so you can bank them and use them across other characters, but you only get one set.
